Gini! That colour looks so fab on you!!! So fresh and full of life...especially with the red lippy!! I am glad you want to make another, cos the piece in general is awesome! and the binding was totally worth it for the peeps you get when wearing with the zip open. Love it! x
I wish the poncho came down a little lower in the front and back. If I’d make it I’d make that alteration. And oh Gini! How many of us don’t read and follow the directions! You are so in tune with your viewers!! I’m so guilty! Really appreciate the tutorial on the zip insert! I agree, that is a cleaner and sharper finish! Looks very professional!
thanks Grace, I'm ok with the length but I could definitely see this as a longer piece and may do that on the next one. The only issue I have with the current length is that it swings out in an odd way if you look at it from the side. I think a few extra inches would cure that🤗
As usual, your tutorial rocks - I really like the finish inside. The binding choice is deliciously perfect - I'd always be flipping up that mitred corner to admire it.
Great tutorial on the zip but I am not a clean finish girl so I might need to thrift a zip that’s already finished to use. I am so gonna make one of these maybe using vintage chenille I hate to spend $$ on simple patterns so I think I will try making one by just pinning pieces up on my Manniquin wish me luck!
Loved your vlog and the Mimi g poncho looks great! 😍 Just wondering if it would be possible to extend the collar facing to come down on the front edge and go down the zip around the bottom of the zip and up the other side and back to the collar facing so it enclosed the zip on the inside.....don't know if I'm explaining that very well or even if it would work lol 🤣 you idea would probs be better just bind the edge of the zip first 😊
I chuckled at your mens pants upcycle. I bought jeans several sizes too large to turn them into a Magnolia Pearl style Miner jeans....seemed easy in my mind. Im afraid the reality is much different but I will work it out eventually. I liked the annodized zipper choice for this and since its a boiled wool I think leaving off snaps is a good idea. Personally, I think snaps can easily cheapen a look or make it look too casual. If this was in corduroy or moleskin snaps would look fine but not in this fabric. I usually prefer a facing for quarter zip tops because the inside always looks so tacky, your solution is a good one. Oh.....how about combining some old blue jeans for this! Snaps that resemble a button fly would be perfect for that
The top of your zipper looks so neat. How did you finish it? It is folded over? How would one fold it over without it getting in the way or making it bulky?
Gorgeous.
Good to see how you innovate and change up things to suit your sewing style and preferred design. Love the colour on you !
thanks Christine 🤗
Such a cute make! Thanx for the tutorial, will help if I get around to making this in the future 🤞🏻 Love the color!
thanks Patty!

thanks Faith, I'm a firm believer in lipstick, it makes a world of difference 😂

Did you mean came down longer..... If it was lower ... Then the finished piece would be shorter..... 🤷🏾♀️

It’s great thank you for the tutorial for the zipper. It’s definitely one of your colors! Fabulous!❤
thank you Debbie 🤗

😂
Really cute! The quarter zip insertion tutorial is much appreciated---good to be aware of interfacing width. Thx!!!!
🤗
What a neat job. Such patience with the binding. Fab poncho. 😊. Happy Sewing. Lynne
thanks Lynne!
The Mimi g poncho looks fantastic. Great job with the zipper! 🤩🤩
🤗
That color looks amazing on you!
🤗
You did a great job on your poncho.
🤗
What a beautiful pocho and love love the color! well done
thank you Helen, I wasn't sure about this color but it's growing on me.
Thank you, Gini! Super cute poncho! I might try a facing for the zipper. ❤
I didn't think of a facing but, now you mention it, I might try that too!
The yellow looks amazing on you!
thanks Sally, I love this color but don't wear it much , maybe I'll change that 🤗
Even tho there’s no stop at the upper edge of the zipper, I wonder why you didnt take the pull closer to the top st that there’s no jog when sewing.
Love the poncho! Looks gorgeous in the Yellow wool, I have this pattern and can’t wait to get it made up thank you for the review!!
@@sewsarahstyle thanks Sarah let me know how yours comes out!
Love the yellow on you, do you think you can put dibs on the poncho, for after 'display'....😊
thanks Kim, yes, they will give it to me when they are finished with it but that usually takes a pretty long time so I'll make another one 🤗
Yes you DEFINITELY need to make one of those for yourself though I love the yellow on you so bit of a bummer you don't get to keep that one. 🙋♀️
Ive never seen double sided sticky tape for sewing. Is it a common thing i can find in a fabric store with the notions?
I have an awesome red wool I think I'll use for mine. I do get to keep this when they're finished with it but that's usually MONTHS 😂
Gini, cute poncho! I love Know Me patterns because they lend themselves to a edgy look. I was curious if it might work in rainwear fabric?
totally agree about the Know Me patterns, I was TOTALLY thinking of trying this in rainwear fabric! Great minds...🤗

You won't have any trouble making this on your own Doris, It's two rectangles and a collar, oh and chenille sounds AMAZING!!
How much fabric did you actually have ( and what width). It looks great!
I had a little over 1.5 yards and it was 60" wide. There was a slice cut out of the center on one end so I didn't have a fold there.
@@thebigsewalong Thank you!... that is helpful as I want to make this with a remnant I have.

A few other viewers recommended a facing as well, not sure I could attach it to the collar facing but I'm going to give it a try on my next one. 🤗
@@thebigsewalong fabulous good luck, to be fair it looks great how you've done it as well 🥰

Now you have me worried about my upicycle 😂😂😂a friend had the same comment about the snaps so I'm glad I didn't use them. Old jeans would be so cool!
