I'm sure Build DaiOh could still combine with ToQOh without DieselOh in the mix. Or a better example would be EngineOh and SeikuOh from Go-Onger. Those two could easily combine without GunBirOh, but it was never shown.
Any guesses as to how this will combine with everything else? Aside from the weird butt hook, are there any other obvious pegs/ports/slots/tabs thus far unaccounted for?
I wouldn't mind that much if they didn't combine besides some part swapping/lending. I mean when was the last time we got a good mech combination? I can't think of a REAL one since toqger.
Though not a big deal, you can put Shovellow on the peg on the right shoulder to give it second shoulder-mounted arm. Maybe mount Mach onto the clip under the drill-arm.
Yeah, that's my main issue with this release. The other two had additional transformation and combination gimmicks that gave us multiple robot forms, but this is very much what-you-see-is-what-you-get. You can plug Shovellow or Jouki's head onto the right shoulder, but that's as far as "combination" goes on this guy unless we get another release that works with it. In the show, one of the villains uses a throwaway line that Express King is one of the "Four Titans of Crystalia," so it's possible we may get more than the four typical large releases we usually get with SS toys (if so, I hope all of them turn into animals like Jouki). We do also have the silhouetted V-chested release that was apparently pushed back.

From the silhouette they showed off, it's got an SR-Type horned head and treads on the underside of its forearms. It was shown off as "Coming Soon" next to in-store display copies of Express King.

Overhead is great for unboxing. Glad you went back to normal for transformation. Both ccamera positions together work very good. I'm still on the fence for buying these. Great review though. I enjoy your PR and Super Sentai reviews very much.

Magiking & Travelion didn’t combine with each other when Magiranger aired. I wasn’t surprised that Kiramazin don’t combine with Drijan since we had a lot of Sixth Ranger Mecha combine with the main mecha.
I'm gonna guess that Gigant Driller and Kiramazin won't combine, which wouldn't this be the first time where a 6th Ranger robot does not combine with the core team's robot (in one form or another) in like ages?

Look, I like a clusterf$%k ultrazord as much as the next guy, but I'm getting really tired of the idea that the combining is the be all end all, and that nothing else matters. We've gotten so use to seeing these mecha as nothing more than Lego pieces to stick onto something else that we've stopped seeing their value as individual toys. This thing looks like it has a neat little self-contained little play pattern with being able to carry the stone in its claw, light up the stone (which is actually a clever way of utilizing the clear nature of the stones) and even being able to push its own button to complete the transformation. But because none of those things require you to buy a ~different~ 70 dollar toy they don't count, and suddenly it becomes a toy that "doesn't do much".
I agree, I love the individual mechs of this series very much: each of them has something particular that makes it interesting, but it is also true that the final union in an ultrazord is the grand finale that everyone expects. A Super Sentai series, without the final combination, is like a good movie with the ending removed, would be a shame

Gigant Driller with its drill arm and massive claw arm reminds me of a bulky Getter-2 from the Getter Robo series.

This seems to be like Magiranger, where the mecha don't do super combinations.
