    We need to organize a proper show of masses at the CBD. We need to show and air our grievances.We cant afford to be voiceless. Good job Moses

    I think we as cyclist should form an association that can lobby for our interest, mainly safety on our roads for cyclist.

      So saddening! Nice to see that the cycling community is standing together in this. A lot is going to happen in the next week.

    I decided to give Thika Road a go this week and I am definitely not doing that any time soon, unless I develop a death wish. Cycling lanes end abruptly at the most dangerous spots.

      I totally agree with you Bernard. I have been avoiding Thika road like a plague. Perhaps if I'm in a group, but surely maybe not 😱.

      @@MosesAmira I was in shock at how bad it was. I live along Thika Rd and I've take to cycling during the pandemic and I decided to see whether I can do the commute when I stop working from home and one session on Thika Rd put an end to that. Is there any platform we can use to channel our concerns?

    That bus on the cycling lane is always there. Given their record of not caring for cyclists, am always hyper-aware when passing it.

    *With the vast increase of Bikes in Kenya, Its sad that government couldn't consider a cyclist path for us. A fellow cyclist loosing life, Its wrong!! Hard to let it sink in my mind but Rest In power sir Caleb. We must fight for your justice. **#CyclistLifeMatters**.*

    They had a huge opportunity to do these road bicycle lanes well but leaders don't often ensure their constituents participate in decision making when required. Why don't our leaders organize rallies to push for such things instead of these useless political gatherings we see on a daily basis?. On our side, we need to keep on highlighting these issues. Motorists also need to be involved to add impetus to the cause. NMT summits need to be started and regular meetings held bringing together all NMT stakeholders, Matatu association reps, Boda Boda association reps, motor vehicle association reps and even NTSA guys. All hands need to be on deck.

    for Thika road I'd rather cycle on the highway the sleeves are wide enough for a cyclist , the service lane is just a no no , two cars struggle to be side by side on the service lane

    • @MosesAmira
      @MosesAmira  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right David. The sleeve is even better than the service lane, except at junctions where the sleeve becomes quite small, otherwise it's better 🤦🏾‍♂️

    Thika road the few times I've had the DISPLEASURE of riding through it have been to say the least a scary adventure. The exits are the scariest of them all. One time I had a really close shave with a vehicle that was switching lanes bila indicating. Something's got to give bana. We can't continue like this.

    • @MosesAmira
      @MosesAmira  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pole sana for the incident you had Joan. I completely agree with you and empathise, I'm going to try to play my part in fighting! I feel tired of what we're having to go through on these Kenyan roads, i hope all cyclists will fight for our rights in whatever ways we all can. It is time! Glad you came out whole and well.

    • @jaru75

    Total chaos....the industry cartels thrive here. The local politicians are part of the cartels & that's why any effort to clean up is met with protests from industry players like nduthii guys, matatu guys, kiosk guys, hawkers. Eish, hiyo Nairobi yenu...!

  • @KingLosoh
    @KingLosoh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Moses, is the cycling lane made well enough for road bikes, it can really wear down tyres and cause damage to bikes? these guys make the cycling lanes so poorly, it's like the most substandard work is saved for the cycling lanes that are there

    • @MosesAmira
      @MosesAmira  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's true Joseph. It's not made in a way that road bikes can use it. It's bumpy, broken and encroached 🤦🏾‍♂️

      That place in front of DoD made me question my choices to cycle along Thika Rd this week. Absolutely scary place for the cycling lane to just disappear. 0/10 will not be doing that again
