I was hoping for a surprise review last year, for the last episode of *Gotham Knights* , just for Misha Collins' extra entertaining portrayal of Two-Face... but screw it, I'll take what I can!
Instead of trying so hard to re imagine well known rogues why didn't they use more forgotten/underrated actual golden age villains like Hugo Strange, The Mad Monk and Dr. Death.
They could give Onomatopoeia the ability to copy voices, speaking each onomatopoeia in a different yet dramatic voice, a bit unnaturally and mysteriously.
@@1001johny - Yep, he sounded happier than when he found out that they were using Onomatopoeia as one of the Big Bads for *Superman & Lois* season 3: _______ Well this is a huge surprise! Penguin and Harley were pretty much two sides of the same coin when it comes to changing a character in the wrong way: On the one side, changing Oswald didn't add anything new to the character of the Penguin that couldn’t also have been added to the og design and nothing actually interesting is done with the new design. Additionally, the reason for doing so is also stupid: Batman has few female rogues!? Seriously!??! Why not just pick from the plethora of female villains that Batman has had for nearly 100 years of existence and just go from there!? Give them an update!! There are more vixens than Ivy, Cat Woman, Harly, and Talia y'know... On the other side is Harley, who is now so drastically different from her original design as "the Joker's sidekick" that she might have as well have been a different character. Heck, if they turned her into a female Hugo Strange (considering that's what she already is functionally), a Helga Strange if you will, I think it would've been actually interesting. But no, instead, we have Harley who is just a checklist of _muh diversity_ boxes who, again, is so drastically different from her original design that she isn't even the same character.
One interesting thing they did add to the penguin was giving the character children. Unfortunately they didn’t really do much with it aside from just showing the audience how evil the character was but it could be an interesting thing other media could explore in the future
@motorwayt-s628 I feel like that's just there to reference that one comic where the Penguin _does_ have kids and is trying to survive their betrayal...

Penguin to me was basically the TV show Gotham’s version of Cobblepot flipped on its head, and then I remembered that she shares more in common with that show’s version of Fish Mooney… just something to think about
Number 9, nooooo *T_T* Seriously, I know that back in 2007, my man Kevin Smith once said that Ono wouldn't work in live action for the reasons you listed, but about 10 years after this original take, he changed his mind and gave his idea about how he could actually work. Lemme look for the exact quote... ... there it is! get ready for a long quote => “I’ve figured out a way to do it that is kinda bad-ass and also connects to comics more or less. So instead of just doing the actual sound - which to me, in the real world, would be like the dude from Police Academy making noises with his mouth - he’ll just have little cards. Business cards that have typewritten words of whatever the f---. So instead of him saying ‘blam’, you’d find this card on your desk and turn around and ‘blam’, he’d shoot you and stuff like that. It looks beautifully graphic, like, at the same time it creates an image of ‘this is weird’. But I don’t know if audibly making noises would ever work in the real world, so I think those cards would be bad-ass, man. So [you read] ‘slit’, and you’re like 'slit?', and then all of a sudden you turn around he cuts your f---ing throat and dude just cocks his head Michael Myers style and watches you go down."
@@randallflagg3700 The problem with this take is that this makes for a very limited usage of Onomatopoeia's gimmick. Like, how many times do you have the chance to have someone find a card (or anything else) written somewhere and then Ono surprise jump on them? It's also very divorced from Ono, since he is more of an action character, while this gives more the vibes of a secret serial killer. It would work for a Nolan-esque take on the character (I can imagine someone finding a card with the word "Boom", the realization setting in in their eyes, and the next shot being the building exploding), but I wouldn't want that for a recurring villain. Honestly, I think Kevin Smith is just flat out wrong on this one. He is so worried about how "silly" could Onomatopoeia possibly be portrayed outside comics that he ends up exaggerating it in his head and only imagining bad portrayals. Ono in CC, for example, is perfectly fine. His use of onomatopoeias makes his scenes really entertaining without making the character appear ridiculous (to the point that my biggest grip with it is that they actually hold back from Ono mimicking sounds during his fight with Batman, almost as if they were afraid that he would look too dumb, instead it just ends up feeling jarringly inconsistent in the use of his gimmick). Instead of coming off as silly, he comes off as just "a rogue with a gimmick" as fitting for a superhero cartoon, not any less silly than Ventriloquist having a puppet that bosses people around or Penguin using birds to commit his crimes.
Glad you’re back Mr. rogues and great ranking of Batman villains of Batman: Caped Crusader. For the show and the villains for my opinion, I can see why it was lacking some parts to it but not bad though I give a 8 out of 10 of the series and some of the villains, personality and design.
The Clayface episode was my favorite. That was the one they should kept as a blueprint for the rest of the show. I didn't dislike the res and was fine with the changes but, overall, it was pretty middle of the road too o me.
I’m had a feeling you would return just for the Clayface episode! Easily the best episode in the show and I wouldn’t mind seeing more Clayface adaptations like this one Definitely agree about the Nocturna episode being the most like BTAS. I think it has to do with Bruce Wayne acting more in line with his character and the carnival setting
Welcome back, Mr.Rogues! I personally enjoy Caped Crusader takes on the rogues. Some of them are not that complex compare to the BTAS but still were fun antagonists, having differences with the comics and other adaptations but still keeping some of their core aspects and feel some of them can still grow in the following seasons. One aspect I really like about the villains in this show is how, despite not being tragic figures we saw in BTAS, most them are still showed as dark reflections of Batman and his arc through the season. All them are flawed individuals driven by their personal desires (yes, Batman is a crimefighter but at the beginning he's cleary driven by desire of vengence than helping people). What separates Batman from his rogues is that Bruce learns from his mistakes and becomes more empathetic and a better person. Meanwhile the villains are sturbbon, refusing to change their ways until they suffer the consequences of their actions

I’d love to see Maxie Zeus and Riddler and Black Mask on this show. What I want the most though is for Nocturna to return with Scarecrow as her doctor/mentor in an adaptation of “Mistress of Fear”.
I have a theory that Black Mask will be one of the main villains in season 2, with him being one who takes Thorne's place as Gotham new crime boss (representing the fall of the mobsters and the rise of the masked villains). From that point, the show could do an adaptation of Bruce Wayne Murderer?, with season 2 ending with Black Mask framing Bruce for a murder and causing the billionaire to be arrest. Then season 3 could adapt Bruce Wayne Fugitive storyline, with Bruce escaping from prision. Much like in the comic, Bruce wouldn't try to clean his name, choosing to no longer be Bruce Wayne, beliving that it was this identity that caused his so much trouble and that he should go back to be the dark brooding vigilante he was at the beginning of this season. However, as he meets people he helped as Bruce Wayne in season 2, seeing that he did made a difference in their lifes, he comes to find a new value in his other identity, accepting that being Bruce Wayne matters just as much as being Batman. They are both key parts of who he is. This could build to a big showdown between Batman and the Black Mask gang, with the dark knight winning by taking off the villain's mask, causing Sionis to freak out (kind like Rorschach from Watchmen), showing how Sionis has become addicted to the use of mask to make him feel powerful (basically turning him into a reflection of what Batman could become he didn't find the balance between his two identities).
It is great to see you back, Mr Rogues. I have only watched 2 episodes and a few clips from the other episodes, and personally, I think the series is ok. The best villain, in my opinion, is Clayface. He was faithful to the golden age version, and I love how his design is a mix of o his classic design and the shadow. However, most of the changes just felt like changes for the sake of it, and most of the rogues were underdeveloped.
Huzzah! I’m so happy you made this video and have missed watching your channel! Great hearing your voice again. I pretty much agree with your take on the series. Clayface, and Catwoman were probably my favorite villain depictions in this. I hope you’ll do more videos. That new HBO Penguin series is coming. I’m not big into the Tony Soprano-esque take on him, but I will definitely be checking it out.
Gentleman ghost is the villain I've given the most thought upon in this series. Like on one hand I agree that it will likely not have any real impact on how media will portray him going forward, and I don't think it should as GG's more comic accurate mannerisms and design are absolutely superior. On the other hand I am rather intrigued with the alternate route they took. Like it'd never wanna see proper gentlemen ghost be lowly enough to have these bigoted habits, but seeing a racist classist villain that isn't just taken man handled for a positive message and can legitimately Kill you on a flip of his ill tempered mood is something I don't see as often. It makes it feel all more wrong that Bruce/batman is given leeway for all the wrong reasons due to Craddocks twisted personal code. Him not having a general scheme in mind does remind me of how ghost stories usually work, they're creatures of habit often too stubborn to stop doing what they did in life, and being spiteful with those trying to change things until someone puts the haunting to an end.
when the world needed him most… he returned

I have only watched 2 episodes and a few clips from the other episodes, and personally, I think the series is ok. The best villain, in my opinion, is Clayface. He was faithful to the golden age version, and I love how his design is a mix of o his classic design and the shadow. However, most of the changes just felt like changes for the sake of it, and most of the rogues were underdeveloped.
Glad to have you back! 👍
Nice to See Ya Back Boss

Return of the King
Please do more videos! They are much needed!
Holy crap welcome back man!
Great to have you back man! Hope to hear your thoughts on the Penguin show when its out!
The legend!!!!! Has returned
RETURN OF THE KING!!! Hope you are doing well :)
Glad Having You Back Rogues, Be The Man
Gentleman ghost is the villain I've given the most thought upon in this series.
THE LEGEND!!!!!
He's back... HE'S BACK!
The great man has returned!
I missed you I'm glad you returned Plus I like your voice😊
When the entire world needed him the most, he was there
Yay! You're back
Welcome back sir
I haven't gotten all the way through but I have a feeling you're not gonna like what they did with your favorite villain.....
Finally! I hope you stick around.
