  • Reposted from the Southern Ukulele Store channel. I made this video in 2018 to explain the differences between Nylon, Fluorocarbon and Nylgut strings.
    Hope it helps...

    Hi Alex, can a worth browns CT-LG set be fitted on a baritone as a GCEA setup or do I need a baritone GCEA set?

      I used to have a customer who did that... He used to say it sounded great and worked great and yet he was always snapping strings. My gut feeling is that it works... For a little while.

      Ah well that’s not good. So which string set should I get for my Pono baritone?

      If you want GCEA then either Aquila 117u or our custom D'addario set of GCEA strings.
      Ken Middleton and his living water strings do a Bari GCEA set but we don't sell them at SUS.

    Alex, did you ever try the Italian brand GALLI fluorocarbon strings?

      Thanks. I will be making a new string video in Feb/March... Just need to find a couple more hours in the day. 😂
      I just get asked for this information so so much I wanted to reupload it from my channel so that people find this channel easier.

    Excellent video. Perhaps a dumb question, but if you have weak finger strength and numbness in the tips, would thicker or thinner strings make a difference in pressing down on the fingerboard?

    • @UkesWithAlex
      @UkesWithAlex  ปีที่แล้ว

      You want softer tension strings and ideally a thinner string. The trade off is less volume or sustain

      @@UkesWithAlex - Thanks. I'll rewatch the video because I know you mentioned at least one that is thin. I bought Martin M600's a while ago, but I haven't yet tried them.

    Alex, what's your take on Living Water strings?

    • @UkesWithAlex
      @UkesWithAlex  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are fine but they are basically Worth clears in different packaging.
