  • In this video, potatoes are hilled up using a 1986 Troy-Bilt Horse model rototiller with the hiller/furrower attachment.
    An update on the gardens is also presented, including the strawberries and the bare root apple trees that were planted 2 months ago.

    Electric fence does a great job at keeping deer out and fairly inexpensive.

      Based on my neighbors’ experiences, electric isn’t a golden ticket for deer exclusion here. My understanding is you have to bait it so they get zapped and then learn to avoid the area. Results seem mixed. We may try it, but I’m reluctant to invest effort in something that might not be effective in our area. The best success I’ve seen here is with 8ft tall fences or double barriers/fences to confuse their depth perception so they don’t think they can jump it.
