My all time favourite organist, looked up to this amazing guy from when I was 11 yrs old listening to him on the Organist Entertains with Robin Richmond (of the red red robin fame :-) I met him al a concert he did in North Wales, there was an organ on stage covered with a cloth loaned by a local organ shop. So out comes Bryan, pulls off the cover and says... where the hells the rest of it!! They only had the base model Hammond EX700 with no external amps/leslie etc. But the show was amazing!
Thank you, Peter for posting these videos. I'm not sure of the last time I met Bryan, either at Southampton or Harrow. On both occasions we were treated to something special. Bryan was always good to chat with, there was always plenty of laughter, too.
@JamesMorganLondon You are very welcome. It is my pleasure and privilege to share these exhibitions of pure musical genius from my friend, Bryan Rodwell.
Hi Jason. Bryan certainly was a musical genius, with his incredible harmonies and clever key changes... not to mention his brilliant fingerwork, which all seemed so 'effortless' but took so much skill to perform. Thanks for the video response link to another brilliant player, Mr.Keith Beckingham, whom I also had the pleasure of working alongside on many occasions, during the former 'glory days' of 'real' organs and 'real' organ players. Best wishes from Sweden - Peter :)
@phil3561 Hello Phil, really good to hear from you and I am pleased you enjoyed the clip of Bryan. He really was a brilliant musican, and a nice bloke as well. Kathy and I are well, thanks, and really enjoying our new life here in Sweden. Best wishes from us both.
Just to add... he said to me in the interval, theres no such thing as a wrong chord if its played in the right place! I had a C3/147 leslie at the time, and he said you couldnt go fetch em for me could you? haha! Thanks for posting this, its very rare to actually see footage of him and his humour. His 'trolley song' will live in my mind forever I think.
@rotosphere2000 Bryan was indeed a superb player... and a really nice person both on and off stage. As was John Holland, who was indeed the 'in house' composer for Organ and Keyboard Cavalcade, until his untimely death in a road accident in August 2005. It was my friend John who took the video footage included in this clip, during Bryan Rodwell's visit to our former home town of Bridport, Dorset.
@duncfair41 Hello Duncan, I certainly do remember my visits to Millers Music in Cambridge, either for concerts or for 'in-store' demonstrations. We had a really great time. Sounds like you too are having a good musical time playing your Hammond Concorde... a real 'classic' model. Thanks for tuning in to my channel, and best wishes to you from us in Sweden - Kathy & Peter.
Absolutely phenonemal. What a gifted player and nice with it too. Saw him in Llandudno demonstrating for Hammond Organs in the 70's. He wasn't phased even when one of the keys on the new organ flew into the air after some vigorous playing.... : ))) I noticed in the credits the name John Holland. Would he be the creative comnposer who wrote pieces for keyboard Cavalcade? Thanks for posting the clip.
Wow! What nostalgia!.... Bryan used to teach me when I was a teenager. Still playing now. In fact I was playing half an hour ago! Now in my 40s!

@phil3561 Ah! Alec Leader. Now, there's another name well remembered and much missed, too. Both wonderful musicians.
