    Randomly - and I haven’t finished the video yet - but one of the easier ways to depot this kind of palette if you know you don’t want to keep the palette is to soak the cardboard palette in water. Gotta expose the cardboard a bit, and you don’t want to get they shadows wet, but it makes things SO easy.

    Rubbing alcohol is very helpful to remove the glue on the back. You don't want to leave them too sticky with glue, because then when you go to lift them out of your palette later, it can crack the shadow. Hope this helps! 😊💜🌷

    I love the alcohol mist method for preventing the matte from cracking!!! That's new to me.
    I'm a heat method depotter, I'm experienced too with Juvia's place palettes, although I learned it the hard way, with a lot of sacrifices 😅 namely my actual 1st palette to depot : Bh cosmetics the weekend festival palette, that I still regret to this day because it was so unique ❤
    I did depot 4 Juvia's palettes, 1 Ace beauty palette, 1 nabla cutie palette, and the only nomad palette I have & I killed so many mattes from it , it's the Tokyo Harajuku Palette 😢 the mattes were so soft & fragile 😢
    I always depot the shimmers because they're easy to pluck, then I keep the heat on each matte until I see the pan raising & loose , I go nudging it from the sides & voila 🎉
    I'll say personally since I depotted palettes I started to buy less palettes and singles & I duped so many new & old palettes & created so many different palettes!
    Slowly, my collection became just singles & limited edition palettes 😅❤❤ which I like for my minimum vanity, my whole makeup collection fits in one bag & the palettes are grouped like books on the vanity, but then when I travel, I'll have to bring none because the singles are fragile & the LE palettes are so precious 😅😢😢 now I'm in a dilemma and I need to pick at least 2 mini versatile palettes that fits in the bag 😆 😅

    So excited for you that this worked! I personally get a small spray bottle (I purchased mine at the dollar tree) and keep it filled with alcohol. I do that for first aid purposes (Then I don’t have to use a cotton round). I also use to sanitize my powder makeup or when I have to repress makeup. I use “goo gone” or another adhesive remover from the dollar tree to get rid of the glue on the back.

    I’ve depotted every non luxury palette I own! It keeps me accountable on duplicating shades when they’re all next to each other, and also more likely to play with more colors since I only need one magnetic palette for all my favorite shades! Too many repeats or shades I don’t use gets donated to friends!ove keeping my collected curated this way ♥ I have about 20 singles plus two ND palettes, which means all my shadows are magnetic and can be rearranged :)) love it !

    I do depotting all the time! I depotted the Colourpop Stone Cold Fox palette and kept the shades I wanted for my neutral singles palette. I also like that those small circle pans fit in other palettes because I took out a crappy light teal from the High Tide palette and replaced it with a cream matte from SCF! I pretty much use singles and have 3 bigger magnetic palettes and one small one. I combine singles and depotted shadows in them. I always have isopropyl alcohol on hand!

    Here’s a tip for the glue. Use a q-tip and apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to the glue. After a minute the glue will start to break down. Then you can remove it with a baby wipe or your fingers (I just don’t like the feeling of it on my fingers).

    I'm more like Kendra, I try to keep the packaging intact and turn it into a magnetic palette, but sometimes the glue is so stubborn you have to take everything apart in the end 😅
    I've been thinking to film my next depotting without destroying since last Xmas but haven't had the time yet...
    A trick to get rid of the glue that remains on the back of the pans is to use a normal rubber, it's usually quite easy to rub it away 😊

    So to get the glue off of the backside of the pans - I pour rubbing alcohol into something (I use a flat lid to a container), pour just enough so it is a shallow pool & put the the pans in the shallow pool. So that the alcohol does not go over the tops and into the eyeshadow, but covers the bottoms. I let them sit for about 15-20 minutes. And then take a paper towel to wipe off the glue. The alcohol completely breaks down the glue.

    I don’t know if I am able to do so with my palettes, because I feel like I might lose inspiration 😢 I have 40 singles scattered in 4 magnetic palettes and I usually keep them arranged by family shade (blues with greens, yellows with oranges and so on), but I’ve got to admit that this arrangement makes me lose inspiration for makeup looks, plus now I see better that I have so many similar shades and I feel overwhelmed, which to use and so on 😢

  • @jennawar13
    @jennawar13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to depot all the time
    But I quickly learned I only like deporting magnetic shadows
    Now I am happy with my singles collection & some of my palettes with magnetic pans like colourpop are custom because I’ve rearranged the insides
    If you want to get rid of the sticky bottom I think you can wipe it with rubbing alcohol

    Makeup depotting aka makeup violence is very therapeutic. When I have the time and the urge to declutter makeup I do some depotting there is always that one or two eyeshadow pallets that has one to two eyeshadows that I love and the rest can go bye bye so depotting is like therapy and decluttering all at once 😂 tfs

      I’ve depoted like 5-6 colourpop palettes (I don’t own any colourpop shadows anymore but this made me realize everyone I’ve ever had has gone the way of the knife lol) but they are super super easy to depot (even the plastic ones!) I would recommend getting like a metal makeup spatula or actual deporting tool just because it’s more precise but it’s super duper easy

    • @Chana_does_stuff
      @Chana_does_stuff ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t know if I’d agree with double waste. Whatever packaging is being disposed of through this method is still going to be disposed at the end of the palettes life anyway. For me the palettes I’ve depotted are ones where I like the shades but not the order or I want to incorporate them with other palettes for travel or creative purposes. I think it’s truly a to each their own situation though.

    • @imaginarycosmetics
      @imaginarycosmetics ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's about getting more use out of what you already have. If a palette is already in your collection I don't see how it could be wasteful. It would only be wasteful to me if you buy a brandnew palette with the intention of depotting it.
