So what you're saying is it's okay to kill a baby if it suits your personal preferences, but it's not okay to choose whether you're going to wear something on your face? And this is supposed to be a form of freedom of choice? How many times did your parents slam you to the ground on your head?

One of the risks I was never told about with child birth is what it can do to your spine and pelvis. I have 4 bulging discs, thrown 3 discs, and my pelvis got shoved down and over 1/2 an inch. So tell me how safe it is again? Oh and when I had a c-section I almost died from infection, and a blown blood vessel made it look like I was bleeding to death. I had to pack my own stomach with gauze 3 times a day. Oh yeah, super duper safe. Oh and I had to almost die before I was "allowed" to get my tubes tied, because "I may regret not having children" though I was unmarried with no prospects of that changing any time soon at that time.
My mom was told the same thing 25+ years ago after having my brother. She was done with 2 kids and her doctor refused. She flat out told him if he didn't do it she would find a doctor who would. Both of my brother and I were unplanned pregnancies
Your experience mirrors a number of family members and friends of mine the fact that the dangers of childbirth are no mystery and have not been ever as far as people giving birth is concerned it's a wonder women consent to it at all . In all honesty if it was left up to me it would never happen so whether or not a woman chooses to go through it should be completely her choice not even the husband should have a say as far as I'm concerned input maybe but an actual decision making power no.
It was discovered during the pregnancy of my sister with her second child that she had endometriosis which we then discovered through communication with my mother failed to share that not only had she had it but our grandmother before her as well. My youngest sister thereafter also we came diagnosed with it after her second child. That what's the beginning of a long history of other family and friends having varied health issues brought on solely from their pregnancies before even having the children.
No abortion. No exception for rape or incest. No minimum age for marriage. No medical care before during or after. Prosecute miscarriages. Force stillbirths. No contraception. But it has NOTHING to do with controlling, and almost literally dehumanizing women. Nope. Its about the children the system cant handle, who may not survive the process, and who they vote against helping at every chance.
Think about the forced numbers of children who will have no basic education. The same numbers who will be forced to work as soon as able to help support their families with minimum wages. It's rebuilding a slave caste for the bourgoise aristocracy so that they will never have to work again (not like they hardly do already). This is just a means to an end.

If the law is changed and a foetus is lawfully a person from conception, and a woman dies either in childbirth or from complications (i.e. ectopic) then can the baby be charged with murder? Because the baby/foetus has been bestowed personhood as per the legal definition. I'm sure there are many other instances where a foetus being legally a person would make an ass of the law.
I wonder if the hospital can be accused of homicide if the mother dies. The law would imply that they also count as a life and as a person and you, the government and everyone involved has a duty to preserve life.
Would hospitals and Doctors and Nurses be held liable or better yet charged with aiding in said homicide and/or murder? Or even criminal neglect? Ooo or better yet the federal and state governments!?!? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Childbirth is no joke, it is traumatic, often disfiguring and very scary for many, many women. We don't just squat and poop them out. Complications are VERY VERY common, not to mention who pays for the birth. Even covered, it can be expensive, plus time off, possible hospital stay etc. The government should pay for it if it is going to force it on women.

I grew up in Connecticut and married in 1960. By May of 1965 had 4 children plus one miscarriage. Condoms were used but obviously didn't work. It was customary for men to go to a drug store(pharmacy), use a code with his hand to buy condoms. The purpose of the condoms was to prevent "the spread of disease" and just about any pharmacist was on board for that!. STD was what was meant. Antibiotics were available but you had to have a diagnosis. The PILL came out in those years, but because of the law, it wasn't easy to get it. My doctor in 1964 was the town health officer and his nurse advised me not to even broach the subject! So, I asked my friends and found a couple of doctors willing to discuss, and maybe prescribe, but a relationship had to be developed first. And you needed an additional reason besides birth control to use the PILL! Especially if the doctor was Catholic! And in another state as I found the next year when I was finally able to get the PILL. After having 4 children under 5 years of age. Add to all that my husband felt it was His Right to have sex anytime he wanted, as if the marriage license guarantees that. Young people nowadays have no idea!!
My mother was married to an abusive drunk, back then there was no help to get out. In 1973 my mother had to have my father's permission, an abusive drunks permission, to have her tubes tied to prevent bringing any more children into that home. This was after he beat the first fetus out of her, struggled to carry myself and later my baby brother. She still, in 1973, had to have that man's permission via an in person interview with HER doctor and my father and written consent given in person by my father. Plus another granddaughter married an African, and there are biracial great grandchildren. As you say, people have no idea.
Pregnancy isn't a black and white issue. It's a lot more advanced of an issue than people realize. The fetus invades and subjugates the pregnant person's organs and blood stream. It creates health issues that are deadly to the pregnant person because it behaves a lot like a parasite. It modifies the pregnant person's body to serve its purposes, it's why the chances of bleeding out after giving birth is so high because the fetus modifies the veins in such a way that they cannot close or constrict. They do this to increase the flow and nutrients from the pregnant person to itself, often endangering the life of the person carrying it. This is why access to contraception and abortion are important, because pregnancy damages the body far more than abortion ever will. Pregnancy leads to *LIFELONG* health issues and nobody should be forced to carry one against their will because that just removes the joy from pregnancy.
@@liberalinoklahoma1888 It sucks that these "Pro-lifers" have so much power when they're actually Pro-forcedbirthers. It's possible to be both 'Pro-life' and 'Pro-choice'. Birth is not that safe in the US. I delivered via emergency C-section after liver failure had gone undetected. My kidneys shut down, and many, many units of blood, plasma, and platelets were required in ICU to stop the bleeding from the C-section. Medical care for moms and babies is simply subpar, and the situation is dangerous.

Don't you think This is about keeping women "in their place". I remember in the past (Im`older than you) the first thing they asked in a job interview were questions about "your family", in other words were you likely to take time off to have children or care for your children. This is another excuse to pay women less. This obsession with "manhood" and the proper role of women is becoming more entrenched in the Republican Party
When I was a dependent on my parents insurance, I was required to have a letter of medical necessity for my birth control every year. By the end of gestational week 3, passive oxygen diffusion becomes insufficient to support metabolism of the developing embryo, and thus the fetal heart becomes vital for oxygen and nutrient distribution. Married men usually want kids so don’t care about those who don’t. And others can just walk away if they get someone pregnant. It’s extremely difficult to get child support if you’re not in a relationship with the sperm donor. If they are going to ban abortion, then they should be financially accountable from conception until 18 years old. You can do an amnio DNA test from the 10th week of pregnancy, then make them pay back pay. What all forced birthers don’t realise (not just men) is that everyone’s taxes are going to skyrocket to cover the rising costs of welfare and the failing foster system. So yes, it’s not a male/female issue but it would help if more men were fighting with the women.
This is a point I have not seen made this go-round with the whole abortion issue. When Roe v. Wade was passed, the vast majority of people were GLAD because it meant that young women wouldn't be dying needlessly, AND it meant that young women AND young men would not be stopped in their tracks, unable to fulfill their potential because of unwanted pregnancy and the requirement that they HAD TO get married. Back in those days, unwanted pregnancy destroyed lots of lives, including those of the resultant unwanted children. Safe, legal abortion, made available along with comprehensive sex ed in school and more open availability of contraceptives put an end to these terrible problems which held US back as a nation. BTW, after the passage of Roe v Wade, there were immediately FEWER abortions overall BECAUSE comprehensive sex ed in schools and the availability of birth control. Abortions have ONLY been on the rise since far right lunatic wing nuts started ranting against sex ed in schools and the availability of birth control.
And the land of the free.. unless you are a woman, a person of colour, non-Christian, homosexual, trans, etc. I didn't realise freedom contained so many terms and conditions (obviously there are natural conditions that restrict freedom, like murder, stealing, etc, but just being you and not harming anyone else in any way, how is that freedom?)
Contraception is used as a cure-all for all kinds of gynecological diseases from endometriosis to PCOS. Why? Because as a society, we don’t really place an emphasis on women’s healthcare. There’s plenty of funding to fund meds for erectile dysfunction symptoms. So, taking away contraception, not only forces women into pregnancy, but takes away limits healthcare. On top of that, contraception is the leading prevention of unwanted pregnancies.

By the logic of the right, sex is only for procreation. Thus, any woman that has had to have a hysterectomy should not be allowed to be married. Any man with erectile dysfunction should not be allowed to marry. If either partner becomes infertile within the marriage, the marriage should then be dissolved. And, of COURSE, when women go through menopause they should then allow their husbands to leave them to marry younger, fertile women. Failing these options, couples could only choose to be celibate within the marriage. But, who would believe them? If this makes sense to you, carry on! If it does not make sense to you, stand up and fight like your life depends on it! Remember this: They WILL NOT stop at abortion. They WILL come for you, no matter how "safe" you think you are. And they WILL decide who is and who is not Christian enough. Recognizing that the bridge is out and trying to stop the car is not hysteria. It is common sense.
"And, of COURSE, when women go through menopause they should then allow their husbands to leave them to marry younger, fertile women." That's the endgame, right there.
Expect republicans to push all they can into law since there is no way of holding them accountable, even in the case of bad law or laws against the will of their constituents.
Does this ban of contraception include condoms? What about condoms for gay men or couples trying to avoid STDs, like syphilis and HIV? Oh, I guess it'll be their fault that caught those because they're gay.
Maybe the solution is to not get pregnant in the first place. But...let's force every male adult and child 12 years old and older to get a mandatory, forced vasectomy. that would solve the problem. If not, then force the father of the baby to financially support the child by garnishing wages and income for the child's entire lifetime. Force State governments to support mother and child with healthcare, welfare, nutrition, education, childcare and more for the child's entire lifetime. How would that grab them?????..Lastly, what if their daughters or wives got raped then became pregnant, would they still feel this way, now that they have "skin in the game", or would they try to sneak them off somewhere to get a secret abortion? What do you think?????

By the end of gestational week 3, passive oxygen diffusion becomes insufficient to support metabolism of the developing embryo, and thus the fetal heart becomes vital for oxygen and nutrient distribution. I didn't realise freedom contained so many terms and conditions (obviously there are natural conditions that restrict freedom, like murder, stealing, etc, but just being you and not harming anyone else in any way, how is that freedom?)
Try to fit a few more category groups in there XD Tell me what right a christian has that a non-christian does not.
And even worse abortion DOES harm someone else so how does your comment make any sense...
@Kathryn Elizabeth Ohh sorry your right, killing a baby thats just about to be born is acceptable... AS LONG as it hasn't left the body. My mistake..
So Republicans wants us to pull out? That’s it I’m voting blue. Lol
So sick of the country… I have to ask myself if I want to raise my child in a country like this. I’m not sure anymore.
Why can't women claim fetuses as dependents on their tax returns? Shouldn't a fetus have a social security number? /s
Forget the sarcasm, people should do this
Well, looks like women may be able to take out a life insurance policy upon conception instead of birth. Let's see.
Now That's an idea!
How sad is the US ?
we are not happy at all
I’m from Louisiana and I can say for a fact that our government officials along w/law enforcement are a total failure to anything in the right direction. It’s a shame
This is truly frightening. Handmaid’s Tale was supposed to be a novel of fiction not a foreshadow. I’m so glad I’m in Canada.
Proud Canadian as well. I do not understand the appeal of living south of our border
Luckyyyy.
If they wanna live like the Amish go and do that but leave us the hell alone
and americans thought that Handmaid's Tale was just TV. it's actually evangelicals' manual
Handmaids Tale is Republicans go to book! It was suppose to be a horror series, and it is!
The party of small government, ladies and gentlemen
Small enough to fit in a uterus.
The idea that you can pass a law to punish people for doing something in a different state completely legally that is illegal in your state is idiotic. I think we should start passing ridiculous laws to keep right wingers out of our states if they do this shit.
I suspect the "right-wingers" would be perfectly happy to stay out of your state, so long as you agree to also stay out of theirs.
Yes. And institute reciprocal bounty systems
@@nathanaelculver5308 oh no. You drive out Republicans who already live in our states. And if they enter to see sports events, protest, or whatever, arrest them for the perfectly legal things they did outside the state
That’s just it Ana; bottom line is privacy, let alone medical privacy, which has traditionally been Ultra protected. All those who oppose are warned to gird their loins because nothing would be protected. All justices and all people of this nation would be subject to, not only ‘show us your papers’ but also more specifically, ‘show us your medical history’, judge Allito, what is wrong with you, that you have ever discussed with a doctor, or anyone else?’
Same argument the wife beater used, his privacy in his house.
The zygote gets rights but if the baby is a girl she loses them at birth? Or do we wait to care about her safety until she gets to her fortress kindergarten and is issued her backpack, pistol and Kevlar notebook?
come now, republicans aren't animals! she doesn't lose her rights the second she's born, she loses her rights at puberty... if she makes it that far.
What they seem to forget is birth control is used for more than just birth control. There's a variety of health conditions which are helped by them. For me, birth control was nothing more than a side effect!
Contraception is not always just to prevent pregnancy....women need it to actually regulate their hormones....
This! This this this, so much. My girlfriend literally got a version of the pill as a hormone treatment. We would be screwed in some of these christian taliban red states.
@@Jukantos sad...
Stay strong people who do live there need our help.
Sad but true. Greetings bibia.
Same! I have to take hormonal birth control for medical reasons, not to prevent pregnancy. FFS.
I fear for the future of the young women of America. Being able to choose when we wanted to have our children was vital. We were able to establish ourselves, own a home and give them a great foundation. We were married young and had our children in our 30's, mature enough to handle the expense and challenges of being a parent.
@@jasonhines4378 the video is not Virginia Schott dumbass
@@jasonhines4378 what? I thumbs down yours though.
You just outlined all the achievements they are wishing to end.
This is all about getting back the control they lost when birth control was made accessible to all.
@Virginia Schott I agree, so the best thing to do now is to make sure these young women get out and vote in all elections for the foreseeable future, to use their voting power to help kick these troglodytes out of office.
Under that law, they could lock you up for having a miscarriage
Don't be a moron your whole life.
Absolute madness!!!
I seriously hope they're not that stupid. In the event that they are, I urge the American Military and the Public Law Enforcement Agencies to stand down and not interfere with the American People in their fight for their Rights. It will cause an escalation, unless it's to assist the American People, and believe me, they will fight for their Rights.
Looking forward to it
@@ComradCyborg the world is watching
Handmaid's Tale is coming true. Surreal.
Anna, thank you for staying on topic.
What's additionally scary is how do they enforce these laws? every woman of childbearing age can't leave the state w/o passing a pregnancy test??? by the roadside??? who enforces this, the cops??? this is scary handmaiden stuff. ☮
What about the women who have had abortions in the past?
Could they be outed as criminals now, and face murder charges.
IS THAT LAW GOING TO APPLY TO RICH WHITE WOMEN TOO?
Nope. They can afford to go out of state to get an abortion. Ridiculous...💯
@@Trump-For-Prison_2025_Now OR TO EUROPE...
No just nope
Fetuses should pay taxes.
So by saying these fertilized eggs are fully people with rights, does that mean the woman carrying them can demand child support from the moment they conceived? How about claiming the fertilized egg as a dependent on taxes? Obviously we can't have fetuses paying taxes, but what about flipping the script so that the woman being forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy is getting child support and having to pay less in taxes?
Can your family sue the state if you die from an ectopic pregnancy?🙄😤
Ectopic pregnancies are not hand in hand with birth control.
@@rdp1240 Noted thanks 😊
I'm from Canada, our MMR (maternal death rate) is half of America's. Shocking. How can the situation be so different from our closest neighbour?
We have one of the highest rates in any developed country. They've put so much money and energy into strategies to take care of infants but very little into maternal knowledge and care. It's clear America already barely cares about women, this is just more of it.
Because healthcare in this country is shit unless you're rich. There's a lot of rural places that have to drive like 2 hrs for a hospital because hospitals aren't profitable in less populated areas.
Because we don't care about our citizens. Health care is a commodity, not a right. We worship guns and the almighty $$$
I live in South Carolina and have two teenage daughters. One of them has an IUD already for her periods. Right now I'm doing everything I can to get my family out of here. We're going to New York, but I know how many women and girls here aren't so lucky as to have options.
Margaret Atwood almost gave up finishing Handmaids Tale, she thought it was too far fetched and could never happen.
I love watching the show with my gay husband
Go Ana! Get them!
Why this was never put into rock solid law I will never understand.
Before you understand anything about it. You need to understand why it was put into effect.
It seems like men should get mad -because NO SEX FOR THEM
I live in the UK and am horrified with what is happening to you guys. This is so awful. It makes no sense to van abortion even less to also van contraception. What on earth is wrong with these people and the system which lets this happen. Thank goodness for your voice. Sending you all hugs and strength 💪
Geeze you’re a serious conspiracy loon
"And, of COURSE, when women go through menopause they should then allow their husbands to leave them to marry younger, fertile women."
That's the endgame, right there.
@@Jenifer_R_ I believe you are correct.
Expect republicans to push all they can into law since there is no way of holding them accountable, even in the case of bad law or laws against the will of their constituents.
Are they also going to ban condoms for men?
Or Viagra?
There are actually plenty of forced birthers who want to ban condoms.
Many of these states don't allow abortion for rape or incest
You know, a woman’s body knows how to shut that whole thing down, so nothing to worry about 🙄
I hope that sarcastic
You know, people see this kind of thing, and they believe it. Sarcasm only works on the intelligent.

I asked a crusty old Australian once while visiting there why they chose the kangaroo and the emu as national icons. He said: "Because neither animal can go backwards which was to mean Australia will always be a forward-moving country, mate." I believe Australian women are allowed birth control and the choice to terminate an unwanted pregnancy as of this date.
We can access BC and system is pro-choice... ..no religious nuts allowed to interfer... No protesting within 500 metres of a clinic
Maybe if we didn't get paid lower than the minimum wage we'd be able to AFFORD all these kids. I'm still waiting for the legislation that forces men to step up and help pay for them. It's a joke trying to get any kind of support even when you take them to court a zillion times.
Zero contraception means zero Viagara. I think that’s fair.
Yup. If their god intends for young teen girls to bear incest children, then their god intends for them to have limp twigs.
