I'm glad you're happy with your progress Alex. I'm with Macy that you could have cut your calorie intake too much and if that is the case, your body is going to drop your metabolic rate to hang on to as much fat as possible, because it's responding as if half the food in your area became unavailable. Did you cut too much? I'm not sure how you can know if you didn't count calories before starting. Look at itemised food receipts and see how much less you're buying every week/month? Not much help if you don't have them of course. I definitely think you guys should have a fitness TH-camr on, one that's actually lost significant weight themselves (NOT some enormous muscular guy whose never been significantly overweight).

38:22 Agree with both of your perspectives here: Hormozi’s methods will tell you exactly where you want to get someone and his advice for fitting snacking into your macros is spot on. That said, to Macy’s point, the best way to get someone on a caloric deficit is by stair stepping their calories down every 14 days or so. Track what they’re eating for 4 days, start there, and then decrease in increments of 200-300 calories until you hit whatever cut you’re trying to achieve. This also gives you the ability to adjust if their body reacts differently to the incremental deficit than you thought they would… it sounds strange but I’ve found my metabolism actually operates more efficiently about 250 calories above where the numbers say I should stop.

I couldn't agree more with what you said to Macy about her channel. I even said that myself, not that long ago. It is nice to see someone as sweet as she is, be successful on TH-cam.
This podcast was really great. At first I thought it was going to be boring, but I’m glad I reconsidered and gave it a full listen. Good on Jack for the questions he’s been asking this past month. Great interviewer!

I Love this channel/show because everyone is always so jovial and cheerful. Good vibes all around and I'm only 15 minutes in! It's therapeutic almost like catching up with friends🙂
Lol I’m from Mexico and I believe your financial content has helped me a lot! So Spanish content doesn’t sound too bad tbh. But sure, regulations and how many things work is pretty different.
I'm just at the 12 min mark and the show is talking about how the content doesn't really apply to Canada. I would argue that point. Most of the American ETFs that you recommend have Canadian counterparts that are both hedged and non hedged (REF XQQ, VUN, VFV). Also we have a number of similar saving programs. TFSA is very similar to a Roth IRA in that they are tax free savings accounts where any growth is not taxed (yes they do differ in a number of ways). I can't really comment on the housing market as I don't know much about the laws and regulations aside from what my real estate agent and lawyer has told me. Love the show, and Graham has been a big influence for me to start investing in the market. Great show, keep it up.
44 minutes in, real talk. Amusement parks, any event with seats etc. Bathroom stalls, etc. Keep it up man. Out of the whole podcast this hit me the hardest.
I watch from Canada. I appreciate the acknowledgment and agree you should add things like Canadian mortgage rates, savings rates, employment data. Even just a few times a month. Cheers
Proud of you Alex! Keep it up. As someone who has a degree in kinesiology and a personal finance entrepreneur, both of them come down to having a good mindset. I really like what Macy said and totally agree with periodization especially with nutrition. Even though it may take a little longer to lose weight, you will be able to keep it off. Same thing with personal finance. Focus in on one or two elements of personal finance at a time to grow your wealth (budgeting, investing in index funds, real estate, etc.).
if he doesnt WANT IT no matter how much you try and help IT WILL NOT WORK. I applaud you for even trying. I lost 140lbs 2 times in my life the first time I did it because it helped me find acceptance the second time was for me and its been 6 years now.
Graham, there’s definitely a market for your videos in Spanish. I’m not American, we don’t have Roth IRAs and I can’t get free stocks and of course I have a different stock market too. BUT there’s ALWAYS an equivalent and I have found the equivalent in my country. When you even talk about real estate and the market, there is knowledge there still and your videos has still helped me to understand the real estate market in my country more. (Basically I noticed that I can’t do what you do in my country at all because it wouldn’t make financial sense 😂) don’t sleep on it. You have people willing to help. Alex can reply to comments en español
I lost 70 lbs over covid and I believe in you. Some advice if I had to do it again... 1. Track your food on myfitnesspal to get an idea of the number of calories in your food. 2. Start exercising weight training/ sports/ cardio/ whatever you enjoy. 3. Consistancy over accuracy (1 bad day doesn't ruin your progress get back on track the next day) 4. High protein meals it will help keep you full 5. Find lower calorie recipes of your favorite foods (torilla pizza, loaded fries w/ lean ground beaf, literally everything. 6. Keep Going and Good Luck :)
I'd love to see you bring Ramit Sethi from I Will Teach You To Be Rich on to talk with Graham and Macy. He might be the one person in the world that can get Graham to hire out work, and go on his van life vacation trip. He digs into couples' money feelings and helps millionaires change their perspective on spending on what they love.
Graham Im from Sri Lanka and non of the stuff you say relates to me , but I still watch you cause it motivates me to do better in work and save more! So definietly co relation to your topic would be the least concern if they gain the overall knowledge in general. 😊
Macy actually knows her stuff with weight loss. Even if you are losing weight eating a certain way, you have to now keep doing that to keep the weight off and that’s why most ppl gain the weight back plus more. It’s best to start slow and your diet should be something you can eat for the rest of your life. No need to cut out all “junk” food and only eat “clean”.
What a great episode! I wish the best for Alex. I know the struggle myself. I was almost up to 400 lbs but now getting close to 300lb. Still going down further. Some helpful tips for him is to learn what his TDEE is (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) there are calculators out there that can help see around how many calories he should be eating. They aren't 100% correct but are fairly close, and you might need to adjust your calories by a small amount if you see no change. I'd also recommend looking into following Greg Doucette on youtube. He has a lot of good and correct information on nutrition and weight loss. I'm actually working towards becoming a nutritionist and a certified personal trainer so if Alex has any questions or wants help. I'd gladly speak with him. You got this Alex, I believe in you!
I agree with Alex. Some folks here in the US don't speak fluent English. Having alternative languages that folks can listen can reach all types of people in and out of the US.
@@AlexanderNava I did actually! I'm the @N2Th3Abyss account that followed like two months ago. Haha. Everytime you mention it though I'm reminded to go give it a look because I don't use insta much.
For what it’s worth (I have an undergrad in exercise science and have been training clients for some years now), the idea of “messing up your metabolism” isn’t really a thing overall. A rapid reduction in calories won’t hurt someone’s metabolism in a sense that it’s permanently damaged. Your metabolism is purely the amount of energy that your body needs to sustain life and activity throughout the day, and the amount of muscle mass someone has on their body plays a huge role in this. Taking away calories too fast can definitely cause hormonal problems with cortisol, leptin, and your ability to sleep so I would definitely say to do it slowly but eating clean foods, exercising, and focusing on good recovery and sleep are the main things you really need to be looking at. In your example of not being able to gain muscle mass, you should be adjusting your body to eating more clean foods despite the full feeling because as you add more muscle mass the hunger will carry along with it since your body is now demanding more energy and burning it faster. For Alex, I would suggest switching to a clean diet with some empty calories here and there, and working on gaining strength. Strength machines are good for beginners because you can adjust the intensity of the exercise to what feels appropriate, but as he begins to lose weights he should be doing more compound movements like body weight squats, lunges, etc. Also, while doing the exercise it’s important not to focus on the amount of weight that you’re doing but instead focus on actually getting tension on the muscle and not using momentum to do the work for you. With that, I’ll leave my insta handle @dbyelifts if you’re questioning whether or not I’m a credible person you can decide for yourself:) Best of luck, Alex! Consistency is the most important thing: Eat, sleep/recover, exercise. Keep it simple and only exercise the amount that your body can handle. This needs to be something that doesn’t crush your energy every time and you can do consistently and get better at
Bring it to Spanish to help underrepresented people. Tons of Spanish speakers I know who would love to be able to get this type of financial education.
I don't get why you wouldn't have a fitness TH-camr on, and work with them on a bit of a plan for Alex. That would be great content, encouraging for those of us who want to get healthier, and you could cover the financial angle. How much less money is Alex spending just by controlling his diet a little bit better? Is it not very much in the long run, or is he saving significant money that he can later invest in things he does actually want? By 'does actually want' I mean that most of the overweight people I've met (myself included) have invested an absolute tonne of money in fat that they didn't want. I never thought to myself, 'I wish I had fifty pounds of fat on my body.' I never wanted it. But I spent a lot of money on chocolate and the like that put it there and maintained it. Perhaps the extra food money Alex is eating is enough for him to go on a nice holiday, or get more stuff for the wedding, or a camera or make more investments for his married life/nest egg. It could be a lot of money, especially compared to something like a terrible coffee from a second rate company.

It can be done. I was 380lbs in 2017, got down to 200lbs and gained 60lbs back around Covid when all the gyms closed, plus my work was physically taxing and during Covid that ended. Trying to get back down to 200 but atlest im not back to my starting point. My method was calorie watching, cardio and a small amount of weights.
Alex: 1st: See your MD, get labs, Vitals, get objective information on your health and gastric bypass. 2. Surround yourself with kind positive people. 3. Create Habits: ie Walk 15minutes daily for 2 weeks then build-start small. As a nurse I’ve worked with patients and fellow nurses who have had gastric bypass and they are doing great. Many have loose skin, but having loose skin is less risk for cardiac problems, metabolic disorders and other morbidities. As for imposter syndrome-huge problem in healthcare, in fact there was a chapter in one of my nursing books on it and it was even a test question. Lastly, Alex: You deserve better health for you and your family-be objective and get your health data from your MD. Wishing you the best 🎉

I got a bypass, I was 250bs, went all the way to 100, then 150 stable for 10 years, then 200, now 150 again. It works but for about 10 years - then I do fasting. It's a tricky one, I would not recommend. You will lose hair the first 2-3 years, because yes, if you ate 2000cal now you are eating 200. And you puke a lot, need to chew, because everything is small. Need b12 shots, but then you get fine after 5 years, your body gets used to it, and you become "healthy normal" but then you might go back to weight, like happened to me and my aunt/mother, it's a tricky one. I do fasting now and I keep my weifht
Sooo technical, this is not rocket science (for most, like Alex). 1-Most people over eat due to boredom. 2-Technical talk ("your metabolical" blah blah) doesn't help the person that is struggling, they generally can't repeat all that stuff back, so make it lamen, nobody cares how smart you sound if you don't actually help fix the problem. 3-lets get to the solution. I was fat (a long time ago), 1st--I was body shamed and cried, I luckily realized i didn't have an "active" activity/hobby that i enjoyed doing instead of eating. So, find a "moving" activity that you can do everyday of the year (but don't do everyday) and make sure you do it with your favorite songs/music everytime. 2nd--Change clothes twice a day & shower twice of course 3rd--Find good foods (but just for the quick junk stuff) like healthy chips & cereal. Keep eating the meats, but less beef/steak, smaller portions and more liquids (Water, OJ, Pineapple juice *Never grape juice*) That's mostly it and have someone you trust "be real" with you after a month on your progression in a month and thank me later or hire me, i'll get you thin the right way.
Let’s go!!! 🎉🎉 thank you all for the support! Excited to provide updates!

I watch from Canada. I appreciate the acknowledgment and agree you should add things like Canadian mortgage rates, savings rates, employment data. Even just a few times a month. Cheers
I love this!!! You guys are amazing! Great dynamics. Keep it up guys!
Thank you! Will do!
Loved this episode ...all the best Alex for your weightloss ..sure u gonna do well... especially with the support of the Stefamily 😝
I lost 140lbs 2 times in my life the first time I did it because it helped me find acceptance the second time was for me and its been 6 years now.
damn no matter the podcast topic, always something else super interesting added in! Did not expect the facebook and snapchat info haha
28:00 Graham spaced out just like they said 😅
Graham, there’s definitely a market for your videos in Spanish.
3. Consistancy over accuracy (1 bad day doesn't ruin your progress get back on track the next day)
4. High protein meals it will help keep you full
Dang Macy looking on point with the new hairstyle
Hell yeah keep pushing Alex. You got it!
Great job, Alex!
Big fan from Alberta, Canada! Keep up the good content guys!
I’m so proud of Alex’s initiative on his weight loss journey and making healthy habits!!
I love this filmed work meeting. This was entertaining. Alex's ig plugs, have me dying everytime.
But have you actually followed me on IG 👀
With that, I’ll leave my insta handle @dbyelifts if you’re questioning whether or not I’m a credible person you can decide for yourself:)
Best of luck, Alex! Consistency is the most important thing: Eat, sleep/recover, exercise. Keep it simple and only exercise the amount that your body can handle. This needs to be something that doesn’t crush your energy every time and you can do consistently and get better at
My buddy from HS is in Toronto and he’s a huge long time fan of your channel. He will probably reply to this comment haha.
Bring it to Spanish to help underrepresented people. Tons of Spanish speakers I know who would love to be able to get this type of financial education.
I'm just reading the title and I mean this with all the best intend, but it's about time. Good on you Alex! You got this.
So cute how Jack started saying YES YES YES! before Graham was even done asking! So awesome 😁
Damn alex! Proud of u bro! All da way from round lake Illinois! ;)
Damn what a throwback haha
@@AlexanderNava LOL dude I saw ur face in the thumbnail and I was like NO FUCKIN WAY!!!
I must’ve been like 12-13 when u were hanging w Marty n Felix n Rick n co
😱 I been thinking about the Spanish market for your main channel for a while now
I even told my wife I wanted to dub your videos if it’s ok with you guys I can send you a sample
Keep it up Alex!💪💪
Has a Canadian living in Montreal a lot of stuff you talk about is valid even for Canada. I just have to do my research after to find the Canadian equivalent. Good thing is our economy is link to the US a lot.
I think Macy and Alex should collab and do a documented weight loss journey in her TH-cam channel.
I love these podcasts! Good luck Alex!
gooooo Alex!! we're all rooting for you
Keep it up bro remember it’s a long journey there’s gonna be ups and downs just keep it going
Ummm....hello!!! I'm a huge fan of both Graham and Macy and I'm a proud Canadian! I just missed you both in Toronto and would be happy to take you guys out on the town when you're here next time.
Next episode: A Serious Talk With My Boxing Coach | Gaining Weight
I love how stephan is shy when he gives critic. he is so humble and polite
Thanks for the great content. You guys (and girl) always draw me in with your discussions.
Good luck with your journey man!
I will never forget Alex Hormozis face, when Alex, your assistent brought up a point about happiness which made no sense to anyone but... Alex your assistent LOL
so excited for you Alex. Hey Graham, a healthier employee is a more productive employee. How about a $200/month bonus if he can lose 5 lbs a month?
I loved this episode, amazing guys!
Love these conversations!
I have Jack’s exact hairstyle and love how it looks with a hat. It def looks funny without a hat tho 💀😭
Intermediate fasting.
Alex, read “Fast, Feast, Repeat” It’s a great read
Amazing podcast as always. I loved the cool and relaxing vibe. I’ll box Jack lol seriously. But I’m not a big creator. Either way keep up the great work guys!
Throwing Macy in the mix is a nice addition because she balances out the masculine energy from the guys with a dash of her femininity😙
Health is the Ultimate Goal, Take your Time. Exercise, Take your Time.
Quick question. does selby have a new instagram? bc he followed me and same post as what he had.
Love that y’all are doing more solo podcasts
Love these casual episodes and conversation
I also feel like there’s a heavy noise gate on the mics on this episode that I haven’t heard in other episodes?
Gaffe your floor with markers so the camera is always in the same spot. Come on boys! 😁
I'm in Canada and I listen to all your content.
You guys should reach out to Bernardo García Finanzas. He’s a great Spanish creator, kind of creates content like Kevin and he speaks English.
I’ve been thinking in translating your content because Alex has a point, you have a big audience that would benefit, I can make the translations and I would make the VO
You should talk about how you would approach real estate investing in Canada where there is only 5 year fixed or variable. Maybe not a whole video but it would be interesting to hear your opinion
The towel thing is Macy acting like a normal human. Grahm is not a normal human
yeah, it was a good an example of her being super caring.
I'm from outside the USA, and I find the Iced Coffee hour more attractive than Graham's first channel, mainly because the guests give some amazing value in the form of business strategies and ideas that they have, which I guess transcends geographical boundaries
I was fat (a long time ago),
1st--I was body shamed and cried,
I luckily realized i didn't have an "active" activity/hobby that i enjoyed doing instead of eating.
So, find a "moving" activity that you can do everyday of the year (but don't do everyday) and make sure you do it with your favorite songs/music everytime.
2nd--Change clothes twice a day & shower twice of course
3rd--Find good foods (but just for the quick junk stuff) like healthy chips & cereal. Keep eating the meats, but less beef/steak, smaller portions and more liquids (Water, OJ, Pineapple juice *Never grape juice*)
That's mostly it
and have someone you trust "be real" with you after a month on your progression in a month and thank me later or hire me, i'll get you thin the right way.
My Guy your Guy , hearded through the grapevin, stittin om te top of the bay, where is he icecoffe?
Macy, I take it back, I’m not willing to fight you! Spit flying out of your opponent’s face?!?!
