    The guitarist with the "hair" is Sir Dr. Brian May (PhD Astrophysics) and he still has that same exact hair but now it is white and somewhat thinner but still his signature hair. This song was written by Freddie Mercury who is the lead singer and piano on this song. Al members of this band write songs and all have had multiple number 1 hits. This song is comprise of 3 songs Freddie had written but never completed all on a similar topic so he put them together as a rhapsody and this song was born. There are so many layers of multitracking on this song in order to create the sound of a choir from 3 voices that the tape it was recorded on was so thin you could literally see through it. I love this song, it is a masterpiece and this exact copy of the song has been number 1 in three different decades. Queen is outstanding, each member is at the top in their instrument and their writing skills are different with each of them so the variety of music from this band is wonderful. Recording this song was time consuming but making the video was quick only about 3 days from start to finish. Queen was going on tour and their song hit number 1. In the UK the only way to really advertist your song was through a TV show called Top Of The Pops and they would have the group responsible for the #1 song in studio each week that the song was number 1. They would have to lipsync to the recorded version but that was the deal. Well, Queen was on the road so they did this video, which was the first music video ever made for promotional purposes because this was long before MTv or any of those types of shows. TOTP was not happy about the video idea but they had to settle for it and this song stayed in the #1 position for 9 weeks. This song was done in pieces and other than Freddie, nobody in the band had any idea what the song was going to turn out as until it was completed. There were no rehearsals for this song, just piece by piece it was recorded. Thank you for our reaction. If you like switch ups, two other Queen songs that you will really like are March Of The Black Queen and Innuendo. Both switch up a lot and both are excellent songs.

    Queen is the real thing, and there is NO ONE that can compare with Freddie. The first time I heard Queen is when I was in high school on the late 70s. I’m sure you have heard Queen before but just didn’t know who were listening to. If you ever went to a sporting event, you probably heard We are the Champions or We will Rock You. You just didn’t know it was Queen. My favorite Queen song is Don’t Stop Me Now.

    Love Queen when Freddie was still with us. My favorite song is one he wrote for the original movie Highlander. Who Wants to Live Forever, but his absolute best live performance, in my heart, has got to be Somebody To Love, in Montreal, Nov 24 1981. He passed the same day in 1991.

    The onr thing that separates Queen from every other band is how versatile they were, you name the genre and Queen can do it brilliantly. We haven't even talked about the enormous talent of each individual of the band. For example, lead guitarist Brian May has his PhD in Astrophysics and was also Knighted a few years ago. His actual title is Sir Dr. Brian May PhD but the Queenies just call him Bri. We will forever love each and every one of then.💙🌈👑🫶

    No matter the style at the time, Freddie always preferred to wear white so that someone standing at the very back of the crowd could see him. He didn’t want any part of the audience to feel left out.

    There are no harmonies at the beginning it's just Freddie, only in the middle section will you hear Roger high voice, and this is 1975 so it's the fashion of the day, and everything Freddie is wearing and his piano plus lyrics sold last year for over 4 million pounds sterling, I first heard the group back when they started getting airplay which was a couple of years before this. All four write, play different instruments, and in Freddie own words he's just the lead singer as many think it's his group

    • @Pixelologist
      @Pixelologist หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Those absolutely are harmonies at the beginning. Whether it's four different singers together or one singer being overdubbed, those ARE harmonies. The middle section is also massively overdubbed, of course - but you DO get the different voices with the standout being Roger's falsetto.

    • @kathleenmayhorne3183
      @kathleenmayhorne3183 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Pixelologistyes harmonies, but all Freddie, singing with himself. IF it is the fashion of the day, it was stage fashion, his outfit was made by the fashion designer icon Zandra Rhodes.

    Freddie owned the stage and this is the most epic song ever! This came out in 1975 when I was 15. It was all over the radio. This video came out 6 years before MTV, it was before it's time creatively. Freddie had 4 extra teeth. He never had them removed because he didn't want to do anything that might affect his performance. The guitarist, Brian May, built that guitar with his father from materials they had at their house.

    Thos groyp cannot be put into a box, they sing in all areas. This was the first music video. This song was written by Freddie Mercury the lead singer,they created until Freddie's death in 1991 from Aids. Their 20 year career was wonderful producing over 300 songs in 14 albums excluding greatest hit, live albums etc. All members were graduates,each member wrote a hit which was inducted to the Rock hall of fame.
    My journey began with them in 71 when they were formed, I was blown away by the song Liar written again by Freddie long before Queen. This song twists and turns with each member given a chance to showcase their talent. it's a band you havev to watch live,until 86 when they stopped touring because if Freddie's health,though they continued to write albums and make videos until a few months before Freddie died. He even sang vocals to he used on an album following his death,yhe other members finished off with the music etc.
    I recommend
    Liar live at the Rainbow 1974
    Father and son at the same concert
    Save me live at Montreal 1981
    Someone to love Milton Keynes live 1982
    Chat back live from the same concert
    Live aid set live Wembley 1985
    Just about any song from Wembley 1986
    Especially Now I'm here.
    If you're still awake well done. Great reaction this old lady's excited for what you find.
    Blessings from England xx

I knew Queen from their previous hit Killer Queen, but this blew my mind. Dutch national radio organises yearly a top 2000 since the year 2000, based upon voting by listeners and broadcast between Christmas and New Years Eve, and most time this song ends up on number one.

    "Liar" from the 1974 TV concert is excellent, as is "White Queen" written by the guitarist, Brian May 1975 TV performance. I enjoyed your commentary. Thank you, I hope you review more Queen including more from the 1970's. Their music changed in the 80's to a more pop, commercial vibe, which was also excellent. Their bassist wrote "Another One Bites the Dust" which you may be familiar with, and each member wrote at least one song for the Highlander film, which offers an interesting video.

    My close favourite to Bohemian Rhapsody - and the first Queen song/ video I ever consciously watched, though I'd probably seen them once or twice on TV back in the day - is
    White Queen - Live at Hammersmith Odeon, 1975.
    I'd met Freddie and Roger at the Kensington Market in London where they had a stall a couple of years before this came out (and just before their first album was released) but never followed the band. Only discovered them a few years ago and realised who those friendly guys all those years ago were!

    The first time I heard the song was in 1975 when it first came on the radio. It's not the group singing in the beginning. That is all Freddie doing all the parts and putting it all together himself. Queen is glam rock. I would like to see you do a reaction on Bohemian Rhapsody the movie. It is about the band and how they started and the progression of their rise to stardom. It gives you a lot of insight as to what the band is about even though there are things in the movie that aren't correct.

    One fact that may help in placing this song in the musical sprectrum, is that it comes from an Album released in 1975 that Freddy Mercury entitled "A Night At The Opera" 🙂🙂If you don't know Queen, you will find that, amongst other things, they were VERY operatic in style. Have you seen "Somebody to Love" live at Montreal in 1981? If not, you need to. Often called the greatest live video ever (with the possible exception of Led Zeppelin live at Madison Square Garden in 1973). Oh Dude, almost any band from the 70s and 80s can harmonize! New to the channel, so I don't know if you've ever seen or heard of Earth Wind and Fire? The Eagles? Journey? Van Halen, with one of THE best guitar players in the world!

    You need to check out more Led Zeppelin, I see you checked out Whole Lotta Love, they have so many great songs. Studio song try You Shook Me, 3 solos keyboards harmonica & guitar, with amazing vocals & drums. Great lives, Madison Square Gardens anything, but I love Since I’ve Been Loving You. Live at Earls Court, the May 25,1975 version of In My Time Of Dying, best date for visuals & audio. I hope you give them more chances, you won’t be disappointed, I promise.

    You really need to watch the TH-cam video "Green Day Crowd Singing Bohemian Rhapsody [Live in Hyde Park 2017]".

    There really is no "better" song - others might have a favorite, but this is the measuring stick by which all rock songs are judged.

    Putting all the credit to Freddie only is wrong. Brian "the brain" May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon were part of this group. The project of Bohemian Rapsody was complex. This song is not just a song, it is a vision of how music can built something that seems to be unbuiltedable.
    Find it out: Queen does it.
