    Clear and concise instructions. After 20 minutes of struggling with the pilot light, saw your video and had gas heat a minute later! Thank you!!

    This video is fantastic! I had my fireplace pilot off for 2 years and even with the manual was unable to get it lit. Looked at countless videos before I found this one. I had the pilot on within a minute! Thanks so much!

    For three years I have been struggling to light my pilot. The instructions are totally confusing. So, THANK YOU! Took me two minutes to have a nice warm fire going on our first day of snow.

    Thanks so much for this tutorial. I had turned off the pilot hoping it will reduce my gas bill but after a couple of warm spring-like days, the temperature dropped again. This helped me turn on the pilot quickly.

    This video is very helpful and clearly explains how to turn ON your Pilot light! Other videos have a different pilot lighting system, or the instructions are not clear! Thanks for the help!! Recommend highly! Cleaning instructions for glass not so good, my glass would not clean easily. Had to use Iron Out or Rust Cleaner to clean it, don't know why!

    what is the difference between a "Vent Free" valve and a non vent free
    valve. Can a valve for a fireplace like the one here with just a
    thermocouple be used instead of of using a valve with a thermocouple and
    a pilot generator ? Thank you

    i have a Earth fireplace insert. I set the valve to Pilot but the pilot
    will not lite at all, No gas is going to it. The gas is on feeding into
    it. Why do you think no gas is getting to the pilot? thank you

    My pilot light went out by itself a long time ago, I dont' even know when. I turned it back on now, it seems to turn on and off ok and for 20 min the pilot light haven't shut off by itself yet. but is there anythign I should watch out or anything? bedroom is right next to it.

    Thanks, we got it lite, but it seems to go out after a little while, does that have anything to do with our thermostat setting?

    • @FogoFox
      @FogoFox  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jody Bradshaw What goes out after a little while? The burners? Or the pilot light? And how long is a little while? And are you running your gas to the fireplace from a tank or from a line straight from your utility? If from a tank, are you sure you have sufficient gas pressure?

    • @h2dfives799
      @h2dfives799 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe on average it's about 5 bucks a month. The pilot uses very little gas

  • @LadyGoza
    @LadyGoza 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I followed everything, and the pilot light finally turned on. But when I let the knob go, the pilot turned off. I tried it again two more times, but the pilot keeps turning off before I have a chance of turning the knob to On.

  • @MRrwmac

    Should the pilot flame touch the thermocouple? I ask because my natural gas fireplace pilot won't stay lit and when I removed the logs to trouble shoo, the igniter does begin the flame from the pilot gas ruble but is an inch away and burns up away from the thermocouple. So I don't think it is heating the thermocouple in order to engage the thermocouple to keep the pilot lit. It's a Rasmussen chill buster UO24 and the thermocouple tip is only 1 inch long. How to turn the pilot gas up to touch the thermocouple? Will a lighter produce enough heat to test the thermocouple with a multimeter 18 - 22 mv (I saw online)?

    • @FogoFox
      @FogoFox  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      MRrwmac Hey there - sorry to hear of your troubles. I'm not familiar with that model, and I'm a little leary of providing diagnosis over the internet, but my thoughts are that, if it works like the Heatilator, you should be able to troubleshoot the thermocouple quite easily. If the pilot light lights up while you are physically pushing the knob in, but it goes out as soon as you release the knob, then I would suspect the thermocouple may be malfunctioning.

    My problem is when I turn my fireplace off I notice it does not go all the way off. There is atiny flame yet. Can you help me with this

    • @annatang1978
      @annatang1978 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That tiny flame is the pilot light. You can rotate the round switch that has the words "on", "pilot", "off" underneath the fireplace from on to off, and also shut off the gas valve by turning the lever perpendicular to the gas line.

    Well, the fireplace shown in the video is not equipped with a blower...so, if your fireplace is the same model, it may not have a blower either. In that case, it would be completely normal that it does not blow hot air. The fireplace shown in the video uses the physical property in which warmer air rises. The cool air comes in through the vent below the fireplace, is warmed as it goes under and behind the fireplace, then that warmed air slowly flows out the top vent above the fireplace.
