I live in Scotland and only "found" Jon a few months back. This was the first song I heard him sing and I LOVE it. I'll always remember it as the song that took me into the world of lovely Jon. ❤
I’m 33 and my friends call me old man because of my love to classics. I’m actually proud to be called that way. And Jon I am not just in love with your songs but I’m addicted. Thank you ever so much
Aussie music of this time was littered with forgotten gems sadly.......This is one of those....Jon English a very underrated performer in all spheres..
I was 13yrs old when I first saw him when he toured in New Zealand 1978. I was so shy to even shake his HUGE hand but I got the BIGGEST smile from him at the end of the day and never saw him again. R.I.P Jon.
JON WAS ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS of a wide range of genres. He was the King of musical theatre as well. Australians loved him and he loved us. His memory will live forever. RIP Jon
Many great times driving to this song while working as a taxi driver in Sydney, Australia. Such an uplifting tune, many happy passengers. Tanx Jon : ) ❤️❤️❤️🤠🐎🍻
THIS FEEL GOOD SONG CAN TURN ANY SOCIAL GATHERING IN2 A LIFE TIME OF THE BEST MEMORIES2 RECALL. JON ENGLISH FOREVER GRATEFUL2 YOU FOR THIS !!!!: MISS YOU HEAPS
I watched Jon play Judas at the capitol theatre in sydney when I was 8 years old, must have been about 1972. I used to play the whole JCS album every day at home during my simple life of 1970's Pendle Hill, a suburb of Sydney. I fell in love with the whole play. I begged my parents to take me back to see it again, they got more tickets and I saw him the next night..with marcia hines, trevor white and so much more talent.. I knew the whole album word for word. I even tried to grow my hair like Jon. Then years later - in about 2015 I had a small pub and managed to book Jon as a featured artist. We got a new digital PA system, I got my son to mix as he was turning into an impressive musician himself and knew way more than me about sound. Turned out the sound desk was faulty. There was so much feedback and we just couldn't get it right.. my son was trying so hard but was so distressed. BUT! Jon English was the perfect gentleman! He wore the sound issues! told the crowd not to blame the sound guys and that they were working hard! At the end of the gig he sat quietly at a table after the crowd had gone. I wanted to tell him how much I adored him but my son was so stressed from the experience that we slipped away embarrassed that we'd let this great guy down. He died not long after. I so much regret not telling Jon what he meant to me.
I just discovered this song. Cannot get enough of it. After watching some interviews I've seen how much of an intelligent and sensitive human being Jon was. Rest in peace and thanks for the music man!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,,,
In the early 80's I lived in Bergen, Norway. This was around the time Norwegian TV showed "Against the Wind". My brother and I convinced our mother to take us to see John English in concert, in the famous Grieghallen, the venue of the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest. This was my favourite song of his.
Thanks to "Australian Music History" for featuring this track on facebook today. Another great song for my iPod! RIP Jon. Always remember your live concert with Brian Cadd at Masters Games in Alice Springs. Pure Gold!
