Another point - female cane inter-node length is longer than male for a given diameter (e.g. 23mm), and, female cane is less hard, less dense than male cane. The supplier might have some comment on what they are selecting.
Andrew, do you know of a place that sells Utku Suna tube cane? Especially for those of us outside of Europe? Can you share, publicly or privately, any observations of reeds made from this cane?
Hi You have to order directly from him. You can find him in Insta and Facebook. I made some really nice reeds from these tubes, and I passed on a lot of the cane I processed from a Kg of this to colleagues who also really liked what they got. Just as with every supplier, you have to do quite a bit of selection once receiving the tubes.
Hi Richard, sorry, I did not see your comment before. I did make some reeds with this cane and was very happy with them. I didn’t have any surprise cracking, or bizarre features in the fibers below the bark. I didn’t make more than 10 (although I profiled about 50 pieces total), however, as I gave most of the cane away to colleagues for them to try as well.

Hi Andrew, and Happy New Year! Just wondering if you have built any reeds with this cane and if so, what are you finding? Cheers!
