I need help with my new years resolution. I've figured out how to change the stars.
My idea for changing the stars includes Orion and Pleiades (Subaru). I figure it's time to put something up there that's relevant to us, don't you think? Take Orion's belt and Betelgeuse becomes the head with a baseball hat. Below the belt are two legs bending at the knee. The feet aligning perfectly under the bent knees. The 3 stars of Orion's belt align perfectly as the 3 fat belt loops on a baseball uniform. The spear pointing at "Subaru" is the bat being swung and "Pleiades" is the baseball flying away after being hit. Put it all together and you get, "THE ALL-STAR." In my case, I see a left-handed batter and I imagine a "7" on the jersey. Which makes him, "Mickey." (As it should be ;-) But you can put any number you want, making, "THE ALL-STAR," any player you want. It'd be wrong of me to not, at least, try. This is me, trying. Pass it on, please and thank you. Don't worry, where I come from, crazy is a compliment. ;-P

On the lucid dreaming topic: I once had a lucid dream in which I realized I was dreaming, and the dream was kind of creeping me out, so I wanted to wake myself up. When I woke up, it turned out that I didn't really wake up at all - I dreamt that I woke up, but was still actually asleep. That also broke the lucid dreaming effect, since I thought I was awake. I was super convinced that I was awake, too, until a few minutes later when I woke up for real.
    ....Or did I???

I’m currently 67 years old and I’ve been a lucid dreamer since early childhood. Recently, I’ve gained a new level of control over my ability to fly while in this dream state. For years, I would always wake myself up because I feared accidentally hitting the power lines. This was frustrating. Now, I’ve overcome this fear. I can jump from very high places and fly from there, whereas in the past, I didn’t have that level of confidence. I also was able to help someone (in the dream) learn to fly, simply by suggestion; instead of ‘teaching’ them to fly, I only needed to suggest they try it themselves. It’s an interesting time for me in my dreams, that’s for sure. -Love you guys. My favorite podcast!!

0:00: 🌌 Astrophysicist Tyson and physicist Brian Green discuss cosmic queries and their popular demand.
5:40: 😮 The speaker discusses their experiences with lucid dreaming and how they became aware that they were dreaming.
10:44: 🔬 The Plank length is a very specific number that represents the smallest possible length in the universe, and equations indicate that going smaller than this length is beyond the reach of today's equations.
15:49: 🌟 The concept of time passing for a photon traveling at the speed of light is explored in this video.
20:22: ! Theoretical physicists use mathematical aesthetics, observation, and experimentation to drive their ideas.
25:33: 🔬 We have a limit on how well we can understand the deep walls of the universe, just like dogs have a limit on how well they can understand quantum mechanics.
30:35: 🔬 Energy input increases the overall mass of an entity, such as a pot of water, as seen in the example of an electric car gaining weight on a full charge.
36:08: ! There is no geometric center of the universe, but if we include the time coordinate, the center would be back in time to T equals zero.
40:44: 🌌 The next major breakthrough in our understanding of the universe may involve a refined understanding of the Big Bang.

I dont get it. Do you mean how Greene said that we dont have free will and everything is preordained by the laws of physics?
So why arent the laws of physics completely capable of answering all our scientific questions? Wheres the "more powerful" laws of physics they talk about that combines quantum physics and einsteins relativity? And would that change their answers? Because if we have a law of physics thats not complete then how can we know if our every moment is predestined? And why dont our laws of physics work sometimes?
Also in the many worlds theory, and multiverse theories its possible that we live out every choice and combination of choices that we can possibly make so is that really predestined or just another universe?

I just had a thought about the center of the universe question: because time is integral to space-time, whenever we look across distances in space we are observing objects at various ages, so all of the objects occupy a different space time. In other words, we have no ability to see the present, except for things in our immediate vicinity. Even then, the speed of light means very close things we observe are not truly in the present, which means that none of what we observe is what’s happening in the present.

A singularity is anyplace where our mathematics (or any attempt to explain via physics) breaks down.
    This is an interesting concept.
The poets and prophets of old knew that an attempt to use language to name or describe the infinite was a futile effort.
The Daoist states "the Dao that can be told is not the Dao (eternal constant)."
And yet, the poets of old attempted to bend the meaning of words and "speak between the lines" to reach toward the infinite.
    This is interesting to me.

I would say that if you emerge from a black hole breaking the laws of physics, then we are insanely lucky to have you bring the information about the black hole, and we will have the exact knowledge, not just a theory. If we word it differently, you emerge from that black hole, and we learn more about the laws of physics than we know now. Appreciate Star Talks. Greetings from Dnipro, Ukraine.

This episode has the best and most sensitive descriptions of quantum theories that I have yet heard. I've listened to every single StarTalk episode for at least five years, and I love them all. But usually when it gets to string theory and quantum anything I just can't follow it. The concepts are too small and complicated for my mind to grasp anything they're saying. I try and try and try, and I just don't get it. And I'm O.K. with that, because it will never affect my life (apart from the sense that quantum mechanics affect every aspect of everyone's lives). But Brian Greene here somehow casually described complex theories in a way that finally made sense to me. I still can't say I "understand" them all, but at least I get where they came from and where they're trying to go. Before this episode, I never really understood the point of it all. We were always hearing a brief explanation of a deep theory and then piling on more ideas atop that theory which I never understood in the first place. But Brian here described the theories nonchalantly and just let them float freely without trying to add more hypotheses on top of them. He wasn't trying to force the ideas in order to get to his next point: he just let us see what they might mean. And that's exactly what I needed, so thank you. :)

There’s something very intriguing about the second question.
The photon, as soon as it is created, experiences no time
It’s eventual fate is to be converted to ‘some’ form of energy - electrical pulse in our eyes, or heat energy falling on the ocean surface.
So the photon, after an ‘infinite’ amount of time, gets converted to a different form of energy
This feels super weird from a photon’s perspective. It is both mortal and immortal.

the ability to stay in a lucid dream is a hard thing to do. in a lucid dream you are free to do everything infinitely possible all at once and when you become truly aware of this you become so overwhelmed with excitement you wake yourself up because its THAT overwhelming. its a very interesting thought process to be able to stay in there
