Great video! But who doesn't want to have 40 rods and reels?!?!?
Good point! Lol
Me lol I have trouble choosing 😂
Me I don't want 40 I want like 50 or 60
You cant do allaround fishing just 1 rod &reel ,sorry
Finally, someone answered my question. Thank you!
Ugly Stik Gx2 on a Shimano Sierra is a much better combo IMHO for a budget angler . . . as the differences between the $50 Nexave vs the $30 Sienna is unnoticeable from a quality/ feel standpoint.
That's a great setup!
Really informative and straight forward. I'm getting back into fishing after putting it down years ago and needed a good starting point. Thank you.
Great Video on rod and reel combo. I enjoyed the breakdown and the price range. I am planning on one more combo and you gave me good info to think about
I have 4 rods in less than 3 months lmao and I still want another one.
There’s never enough!
Midwest US, we target Bass (Smallies and Largemouth), Catfish, Carp and occasionally panfish. All we need are the 5’ - 6’ Ugly Stik combos, 8lb mono and either the combo reel or a replacement Trion, Ozark Trail, or Sienna, 1000-2000. Use the combo reel til it wears out (5yrs) then replace… Real anglers don’t need anything fancy.
My all around setups are a 1980 Mitchell 300A on a 6' medium bass pro carbon rod.
Spooled with 12 lb mono.
The other is a Daiwa BG 4000 on a 6' 6" ugly stick.
With 20 lb braid.
I can easily catch anything I fish for with either.
Cheers
I run 5 different sizes in the Sedona and love them. They have never given any trouble, but l always clean them after saltwater use and lube every 6months.
I got a 7' Kastking Cruxis spinning rod reel combo. It handles like a champ was able to land anything from crappie to carp so far.
STOP TALKING SHOW ME THE ROD
Yea! Show us your rod!
It’s not that I don’t want to have 40 rods
I just am broker than a homeless person😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks man, great video and recommendations; I appreciate the info and I went with the Pflueger President 30 reel with same brand rod combo at a 6'9" medium/light.... cause I only catch smaller fish mostly, lol! 🎣
Ugly stick, medium heavy, with a quality bait caster. Best combo ever.
looking for a recommendation for most sensitive 7' med power fast action do it all budget/budget-ish rod. Thanks (mostly will target bass/pike/steelhead with it, maybe walleye)
@@joejitsumusic The 13 fishing Omen Black is sensitive and comes at a good price point as well. I’d check it out!
@@humbugvideos awesome thank you!
Great Video! Thinking about Ugly stick elite medium heavy and a shimano Nasci 3000 targeting bass, pike and salmon. What are your thoughts?
@@omarrosado2481 That’s a good setup! Durable too
@@humbugvideos Thanks!
this was just what i was looking for. thanks
Long time angler and this is an Excellent and Informative video, I'd like to add for the pan fish rod that sometimes pan fishing takes places in shallow heavily wooded waters and farm and wood ponds are streams in wooded areas, so in those places where it gets tight I'd say a 5' rod, still limber you don't want a lot of spine.
So I check that shimano Sedona and there is many options on the for example 500, C2000s ,4000 what is the difference in those? I am looking for exactly what your talking about, a good all around rod and reel(mainly for under 10 pound catfish and the occasional 15-20
@@kalebthornton5205 I would do the 4000 size, that is best for all around catfishing and what your doing!
Thank you for this vid 😢
Recommending straight fluorocarbon line is not a good idea for beginners. 6lb monofilament is the way to go.
I have had less overall trouble fishing with Flourocarbon in terms of line twist and snapping off which is why I recommended it. I think both would be fine, but why would u recommend mono?
I've been fishing for over twenty five years and I use 6lb mono line for everything. Including inshore salt water.Unless im going exclusively for trout, then i will throw on some 2lb xxx. Im in a very highly pressured area in the country so you want to be as stealthy as possible.I have never lost a fish using it. If and when I do lose one I will think about upgrading👍😎
Great videos. Keep up the great content!!
Appreciate it, thank you!
so for the freshwater a 7ft medium and fast action
??
And also what about an all around inshore saltwater fishing/ surf fishing setup ?
All around saltwater do an 8 foot medium heavy and a 4000 size reel
I think for me my two rods are either Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0s or an Ugly Stick. Reels I’m playing around with.
@@ghilliemanreviews I have a video covering the best ones for different price points!
I like that, a jack of all trades and a master of none.
this was the best video I've seen on this topic! thanks for the info bro
I'm that guy, one pole for everything. I'm getting a VanFord reel, was wondering what two poles would you recommend under 200 for everyday fishing?
@@TwoBitTony 13 fishing Omen Black and Fenwick HMG would be great!
@@humbugvideos Awesome, thank you
@@humbugvideos How about under 300, best 3 casting rods. And have you ever fished for monster brown trout in the owyhee?
@@TwoBitTony I have a few videos on my top recommended rods. And no I haven’t, but I want to fish it someday!
@@humbugvideos Nows the time to fish it. That'd make a great video. Thanks again
thanks for simplifying this.
I’m thinking Okuma Ceymar 25 or 30 and Ugly Stick GX2 6’6 medium rod will be a great all around setup.
Awesome setup for sure
I was hoping to get feedback from fishing folks about a 2-piece 7-foot medium-heavy spinning rod. I'd high prefer something with cork handles. Two piece is non-negotiable, but there is some wiggle room around the 7 foot length, but I don't want something 6'6". My budget is about $150. Any suggestions?
@@akoilngas1215 I believe Fenwick makes the HMG in a 2-piece MH for about $100. That would be a great choice!
@@humbugvideos Thanks. After seeing your suggestion, I did find a 2 piece HMG which would have been about perfect. It's out of stock everywhere I look.
I am having a hard time finding a 2-piece, medium-heavy spinning rod, and I can't find spare spools for my reel for anything less than about 70 dollars. They are out-of-stock everywhere. This is insane.
I got a 6'6" fenwick eagle medium travel rod and a shimano nasci 3000 for a first/general use rod to use wherever and whenever I find myself camping near rivers, lakes or the ocean in the PNW. Couple questions if you have the time!
I'm a little concerned about the all-plastic reel seat on the fenwick, will this be a durability concern over time? Also, could this rod/reel combo handle steelhead and small pink/coho salmon or should I plan on a second rod for that? Thinking 15 lb braid mainline and changing leaders from 6 - 12lb fluoro depending on what I'm targeting. Any concerns with this setup? Am I asking too much of a single rod?
Thanks, your channel has been really helpful!
@@brendankp The real seat will be fine, however that rod is a bit light for salmon. I’d recommend more of an 8-9 foot medium heavy for that type of fishing. 15lb braid will work for this setup but for the salmon setup I’d recommend 30 lb braid. Hope this helps!
@humbugvideos Thanks, sounds like a job for an ugly stik! Would I be better served getting a larger reel for the salmon/steelhead setup or put the nasci 3000 on the heavy setup and get a smaller reel for the fenwick? 3000 seems like it might be a little heavy for the fenwick if its just for smaller fish, but maybe too small for salmon.
@@brendankp Yah the 3000 is a weird size between the 2. I would keep the 3000 on your other setup for bass/other and then get a 4000 for salmon/steelhead
what about ugly stick gx2 with a pfleuger president
@@markandres8361 that would be a great combo!
Awesome vid. Thanks for giving my love a shoutout. Lol
😭why rapala is getting way too expensive now?
It's just the world man. Bring back the $5 footlongs from subway
@@humbugvideos I was trying to buy rapala countdown elite, it cost nearly $20🤣
So a couple ultra lite set ups. A few medium rods. A catfish set up. A few surf rods. some carp rods. And a few combos you dont use much but hang on to and collect dust. Got it.
@@ChillingwithMalc Don’t forget a fly rod, an Ugly Stik (we all have one just admit it), and a broken tip rod that u haven’t repaired but won’t throw away for sentimental reasons
@@humbugvideos lol I have an ugly stick that had a broken tip that I did repair but cant get rid of because of sentimental value. 😅👏👏👏
Have you tried the new version of the Sedona ? Vs the last gen…. I think they’re both very great reels from what I can tell… I have two in the 2500 size and both buttery smooth
It feels very smooth in hand, but haven’t got to fish with it yet
So for an all around set up you mentioned a medium power but what about the action? I was looking at a 7 ft medium power rod but it has alot of action options
@@julioromojr7847 for all around I would go fast action!
@@humbugvideos Thank you so much for this video I'm so excited to get started fishing but there is so much to learn. i am stuck between the ugly stick gx2 combo and the Ozark trail OTX combo the spec seem to be the same.
Thanks my guy this really helped me get 🤟🏽🤟🏽
What rod and reel and what size of reel would you suggest for Northern pike, walleye, perch trout and gold eye?
I’m not the greatest with the northern fish, but a 7’ medium heavy should handle those ok!
does the size of the reel really matter
@@markandres8361 it can!
What about action? Does fast or moderate make more sense when targeting panfish, bass, and trout?
@@Andrew-ho5fz I prefer a more moderate action for trout and panfish for sure. For bass however, a fast or extra fast is better
I'm targeting all 3 (my first rod), and planning to go with fast! Does mono make sense, given it has some stretch to it?
@@Andrew-ho5fz Mono would work, I’d go with flouro though!
@@humbugvideos I'm also debating going braided+fluoro leader. Is fast action + fluoro similar to moderate action + braid? Or should I still go with fast action?
@@Andrew-ho5fz do braid-flouro with fast action
What do you think about a 6' 6" gx2 over a 7' gx2 medium spinning rod
Both are fine, I like a longer rod when I have a choice though!
What would you recommend for bluegill white bass white perch and throwing 1/64th trout magnets
@@michaelapanasewicz9967 7’ Light 1000 size reel and 8 lb flouro👍🏽
Is 5’6 to short or fine
@@christopherjacob-cadeallen2553 for trout and panfish it’s fine!
Great work bro! 🔥
Thanks G!
You can't use one rod for everything
@@steelhead7704 I know, did u watch the video?
Well of course not, he said that in the video hater
Yeah you talk too much.
what about fishing in thailand where i live and go fishing
@@RobertHealey-k8h I haven’t fished there, so I’m not sure what you’ll need!
