I have to say I think it’s mainly the style of the players that is causing that effect. The bassist is very good but he’s using about 25 percent of the power that bass has to offer, but the cellist is going all in.
@@Mars-mg7qx well basses have concertos and they also can be solo because in some songs like Paul hindemith syphmatic metomorphis there is one double bass and the rest is a brass and wood wind band I know I'm late but it's always nice to inform someone on the correct truth have a good day if see this
I’m an elementary school General Music teacher and I’ve been using this video to show kids how the instruments are played, how they sound and what practice looks like! Excellent job.
Honestly if anyone would give me a question about orchestra in my school I would be very surprised because everyone thinks the orchestra cases look like guitars
As someone who is “definitely not” a bassist, I have to give my vote to the bass. :) But the end is really where you see the beauty of these two instruments when they work together in the orchestra.
I always saw the violin family as being like dogs. The small ones (violin; like chihuahuas) are agressive, loud, and hyperactive. The medium ones (cello; like, say, golden retrievers) are also active but gentle at the same time and warm and friendly. The large ones (bass), the ones who look scariest and most intimidating, are actually the most gentle ones. Right?
This actually kinda fits with the people who play them, most of the violinists are hyperactive in my orchestra while just sitting there hoping to get a bigger part in the song besides being the beat (I’m a bassist) lol
@@iplayforfunsowhat9728 it means that the bassist was playing the same notes as the cellist, but one octave lower. When the cellist went too low, the double bass was not able to go any lower to double the cellist, or play one octave lower, so he kicked to make the illusion of that sound or something or maybe it was just for fun
You would never feel the true difference between these 2 as long as you watch and listen inside a Video .Bass cellos give you Goosebumps When played is like something overwhelming you entire body
I love these comments ! I was expecting everyone to choose cello because it sounds "beautiful", but the bass has such amazing ranges and ways of playing and takes a lot of work to play it. So glad people and non bass players understand that
Susan Howard it’s weird I play viola but I really love the sound of the cello and the bass. I’d say if I had to choose I would pick playing cello but unfortunately I didn’t have a choice. But hey, violas pretty good too 😄
@@velxcity07 although i love Cello the most but i love viola so much! It sounds perfect for me. Not hating on violin but violin is too scretchy and piercing. Viola sounds so balance!
My 2 fav instruments, even though they're all so beautiful and different in their own ways.... I play the piano for almost a decade now and it's my #1 fav for sure, but these 2 are really up there!! So gorgeous! Especially when they played them together!
Eliana Esther S you won't regret it! As a bassist, I have to tell you it's a lot of fun, and if you really love it, you'll devote a whole bunch of love and affection into playing! You can't stand a day without playing!
As a cello player I think the bass sounds smooth and classic so I'm on team bass and at the same time cello sounds classic and energitical as well so I cant really decide thier but wonderful
The Cello is like that cool middle aged cousin that everyone loves, and the Bass is like the old but humble grandpa that everyone also loves. I like the bass but the cello has a more resonating tone.
This. Both are beautiful sounds, but the warm tone and fuller resonance gives a certain intense and mournful character to the cello. Sort of like the duduk’s velvety sound compared to other similar instruments. The bass was great, but the notes felt less full. They’re correct, but flatter sounding-dryer, I guess you could say. In the end, that subtlety is intentional, I believe. It’s intended purpose is usually to compliment loads of other instruments rather than solos.
Sounds beautiful, the bass sounds softer with these notes cause its higher up on its range of notes, cello sounds more stronger cause they are playing lower on its range
I’m a cellist and I of course love the cello’s energetic sound but my dream is to also someday learn the double bass! I just love dramatic low instruments 😂❤
For me, it's not much to stand, but having to keep your arm in the right position is harder, in my opinion. As a bassist, it's really hard to press down on the strings, since the strings on the bass are so thick, so I don't really ever worry about my legs.
@@elitaniav1865 Yea. And I already easily broke my bro's violin A strings twice due to my so-used-to-press-on-double-bass-strings-strength 😂 And I was so scare when I press on cello strings 😂😂😂😂😂
Above all very talentetd guys! Very nice musical and virtuosic comparision of the two instruments. Played altoghether they reach the real power, depth and magic. Isn` t it quite bad to kick your bass that hard? Won` t that back plate crack from such a use?
The cello sounds powerful and energetic, and the bass sounds so smooth and gentle, so therefore I like both.
I have to say I think it’s mainly the style of the players that is causing that effect. The bassist is very good but he’s using about 25 percent of the power that bass has to offer, but the cellist is going all in.
God Christ Jesus bless you all my family, have a nice day today :" )
I own a bass
@BIIIRRRRDDDDDSS bass
Which one is which?
I’m team bass. But when the both played together it sounded amazing!
BoomBass same I love the bass I chose it for middle school its amazing
Bass isn’t bad but doesn’t have as pronounced sound as a cello, mostly because of how big it is
#teamcello
though they are both amazing instruments
#teamcello
As a bass player myself, I am inclined to think the bass was better. I really enjoyed the combination of the cello and bass in this piece.
Is it hard to play? I'm just starting to learn. It's intimating when the instrument is taller than you.
Kirstin The Deviant Ek2900 Not that hard, especially because you wont be solo ever.

I think I love the strings and sound of the Bass better. Much less scratchiness.
Cello all the way❤❤❤

I currently play bass, and there isn't a point to argue about which is better, in my opinion.

Nah cello always rocks bou
you can play all of the string in different styles

Bass: "HONK"
Cello: "Good heavens, in that case, a duel"
