I dont know if sth changed within the last week but I cant do the opener where we ask GB to get Beijing for us in exchange of a trade port anymore. It now shows -1000 modifier saying "GB doesnt think you can help capture the war goal". I'd never seen that before.

It helps if you create a navy (even w no ships), and it helps if they have intelligentsia and pb. I had to reroll quite a few times, maybe 3/15 worked including successful practice runs.

I suspect it might be that they need a particular strategy, but I’m not entirely sure why sometimes they are helpful and sometimes not

@@generalistgaming Hmm.. I had an empty navy to try and trigger whaling. But they had PB and Trade unions maybe it was that. I did it successfully before but I'm not entirely sure why it didnt work the other times. The only thing I didnt try was raising conscripts before inviting them. Maybe I just need to keep trying. Them following a strategy is very plausible. I'll keep testing and try to figure it out.

I swear that playing as Qing, rice farms only employed 8k pops with no labor saving pms. I remember thinking I'll build a bunch of rice to get some income taxes, and then being flooded by unemployment.

depeasanting is good and all but the output is rarely profitable
I always find myself building manufacturies over agriculture
great video anyways keep up the good work

Depeasaing is pointless if you don't capitalize by also building consumer goods.

@@ka1ock IKR? depeasanting is so overrated man like by the halfway point you're going to run out anyway
so what if I can empty the subsistence farms 10 years early but all of those pops are now woodcutters or rice farmers
I don't think it's worth spending 20.000+ construction points just to weaken the landowners there has to be a better way

@@ka1ock obviously but I prefer "natural and organic depeasanting"
      Forcing ricefields sounds counterintuitive

That's where I find the private construction queue most useful. I'll build just enough consumer industry to make sure there's proven profitability (usually just a single example of each type does the trick), and then let the investment pool do its thing. I focus on keeping government spending on goods as low as the market will allow, while ensuring that the private construction is able to use as high a percentage of my construction output as possible. I like micro-managing in general, so I don't queue a bunch of things ahead of time. I keep an eye on the construction usage number in the top-right UI, and just add to the government queue as necessary to keep things from going unused, and obviously increasing construction sectors as the economy supports. That allows me to get the public/private allocation awesomeness of laissez faire no matter what economic policy I have in the early game.
I suppose this approach really is just doing what you're saying by different means, but I find it helpful in that I can still keep the focus towards depeasanting in what *I* construct, without running into any issues you guys have identified. By letting the private queue do its thing, developing a consumer economy just sort of takes care of itself.

Is your rough 80% credit line an experience/vibe-based threshold, or did your dark magic spreadsheets inform your creditgoals? Honestly I i feel much more comfortable at around 33%-50% haha

Do unrealized taxes still get collected and then magically disappear? Or do they stay in the pops pockets? I'm seeing conflicting information about this. I'm also seeing that bureaucracy deficit tax waste is different to tax capacity deficit is different to turmoil tax waste in this regard.

    • @joe5342m
      @joe5342m 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

In both cases, the money is deleted. The difference is unrealized taxes cost much less to fix where the solution is generally to build more bureaucracy. Insufficient tax capacity is harder to justify, as generally, you have to spend alot in construction, paper, and wages, to get a small amount of tax income.
However, to answer the question directly yes, all forms of tax waste still come out of a pops pocket and get deleted
