Dimash is considered by most professional singers, vocal coaches, and opera singers to be the best male vocalist in history. He has a 7 Octave range (B1-D8), he sings all genres of music from Kazakh folk, to rock, heavy metal, ballads, rap, classical (see his videos with Placido Domingo and the one with Aida Garafulina and Lara), and has created his own form of fusion music. He is from Kazakhstan, he is 6’3” tall, plays 7 instruments, sings in 13 languages, but only speaks 4. He is a Black Belt in Karate. His mother is an opera singer, and his father a pop singer. He has 2 master degrees in music, voice and is working on a PhD in music composition. He is truly a prodigy and marvel. He is humble, respectful, and loves his family.

I've already commented on one or two reaction-videos a long time ago that I personally don't like this video that much, also because Dimash almost always has his eyes closed. But also because I think for me, it's too polished. The range is amazing, but I also think it's much more intense with an audience. I was almost torn apart by other Dears over these comments😂.

Absolutely! Actually Slavic Bazaar is closest to his Singer 2017 performance, which imo is his purest performance of SOS. No additional sound effects, no fantastic staging, just pure focus on a great, phenomenal, voice. Every note is carefully thought out and superbly placed, every intonation is just perfection for his phrasing. Even up to the last note, he surprises us, - opens up his vocal cords and then closes up again to arrive at the perfect ending. There was never another performance like that and it is definitely one for the history books.
If anyone listens to Slavic Bazaar, which I also love, they should also listen to Singer 2017, because that is the essence of Dimash. Everything from him stems from that age - 23 years old. It’s like he burst onto the world differently from his previous singing. I think we watched him grow up from there on.
At any rate, the Digital performance was definitely not his best. Thank you for your honesty. I got berated quite a bit for expressing that same sentiment at the time. 😂

He sang this song on his digital concert in January 2021 during the pandemic. He had to cancel his tour and did this concert for his Dears/fans. That’s why there was no audience to be seen or heard.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.

What fascinates me most is that he sang this song in his concert, where he had already been on stage for almost two hours. Simply incredible🤯.
And there is another great version of Diva Dance. It's called Drunken Concubine and it's from the Shanghai Spring Festival Gala in China. He sings with Li Yugang, a great Chinese opera singer who usually plays a woman in classical Peking opera. He is a very famous singer in China. The two harmonize so well together. It's really fantastic. I love it and I'm sure you will like it too.
You can play these two songs together because the Bastau version is really short (1.42 minutes). Some other reactors do this. There are also other little vocal surprises in this second video.

Yes, he does do the blue alien song, The Diva Dance from The Fifth Element. My favourite performance is from Dimash’s solo concert, in Bastau 2017. He sings this song better than the blue alien which of course does use computers in parts because it was considered not possible for a human to sing. Dimash sings it live, 1 3/4 hours in, to a solo concert which lasted nearly 4 hours.

OK, so Blair mentioned the Diva Dance from The Fifth Element, which was produced with digital help. Well, yes, Dimash can sing it, and has done so multiple times. Three of my favorite versions: 1. At Singer 2017, where he replaced the infamous 11-note bar with a string of high staccato notes. 2. At the Bastau concert, where he sang that bar as is, and 3. In a duet with traditional Chinese opera singer Li YuGang, where he replaced it with a whistle note. There’s another version from probable 2015 or 2016, a blurry fancam, where he starts with the same aria as in the movie, Il dolce suono.

One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.
