I love the dolphin episodes. this summer me, my dad, and my brother went to the keys and I used the advised you told me on your "dolphin and weehoo" episode, well we had one of our best trips...we caught a lot of schoolies but my dad caught a 35 pound bull and a 25 pound cow on the same grass mat using the tips you gave me! thank you for helping us out!
Nice video love mahi they are one of the funnedt fish to catch. They are all over the country too we get plenty in new jersey, sometimes right off the coast
Great episode mike! You and carlos know your stuff and I love how you don't mind giving your little tricks and tips. It's nice that your doing little min long rigging clips also. You guys are the best! Best show out there by far! Nothing comes close to yalls great show. I'm located out of ponce inlet in daytona beach and after watching your episodes makes me wanna run right offshore and catch some fish! Keep up the great work guys!
andrew taulbee Thank you, that really means a lot. We appreciate your support. Give me your complete contact info, i'd like to send you a t-shirt. Also, are you a subscriber to our magazine? - Capt Mike
Yes I am subscribed! It's a great magazine. Has tons of great fishing tips. 1000 3rd ave Deland Florida 32724. Keep up the great work and episodes mike! I laugh a lot at you and Carlos's little games you play with each other. Your rigging station clips are the best and you give great detail into everything your using. Never change what you guys are doing! Love it
Today we went dolphin fishing out of marathon and we got a nice bull on the troll but then decided to change it up and do some running and gunning looking for birds and debris. Under every bird we saw, and under every piece of debris we saw... Their were lots of schoolie dolphin, but we could only keep there attention to hook up on only 1 or 2 fish IF ANY. What should I do? I throw chunk ballyhoo and squid on hooks and throw free ones out. But like I saw they eat one or two chunks then leave, thanks!
Mogan Mafia Sounds like and it may be possible the fish were pretty beat up from recent boats/crews. Have you tried live bait like pilchards? Often times when they wont eat chunks, they'll compete for the live bait. Another option is bucktails, plastic shrimp or other artificials. Of course, not everyday is a gangbuster day and sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Love your vids, informative and entertaining. Question: what are some good tell tale signs to look for when pushing offshore looking for dolphin? I know birds = bait = bigger fish that eat bait, but what are some other strategies I could use? Thanks Capt. Mike!
Danny Gretter We did one last season on juvenile tarpon up in Coot Bay, in Everglades National Park. You can watch it here, Everglades Juvenile Tarpon It is definitely time for another one focused on slobs! - Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Great job on the dolphins they fight so hard on top water or on spoons you should try some bass lures like jerk baits or spinner baits I caught a them off of jerky and bacon
I'm dying to catch some mahi mahi and some snappers, cubera, yellotail. I caught two little black fin tunas by fowleys light and it was amazing. Thank you very much for replying thanks to your tips i have learn a lot.
So should I keep the first one in the water to keep the rest of the school around and can u take it out of the water and out it on a stringer or keep it on the line
Hey capt mike was gonna ask yall if yall could ever do a texas trip and get on our weedlines and oil rigs and our swordfishery we go out with a penn international 30vsw with 130lb braid we hook into stuff bout 80 miles out we cant even slow down they get us in the rig im assuming is a grouper any tips how to get him out away from the rig
nathan butler Maybe giant goliath grouper? Try socking down the drag and moving the boat away from the structure once you hook up. Maybe you can pull them into open water. - Capt Mike
Alan Sabourin Hi Alan, this show was filmed east of Deerfield Beach in about 1200-1500 feet if I remember right, however sometimes you can catch dolphin in 100 feet and sometimes 2100 feet, and everywhere in between. Everyday is different. Look for clean blue water and of course, well formed weed lines. Frigate birds are also an excellent sign. Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Alan Sabourin Right now there are lots of schools in 300-600 ft, small fish, I would recommend 15-20 miles out for quality fish right now. - Thanks again. - Capt Mike
Anywhere from 3-5 knots on the slow side when pulling rigged ballyhoo in bumpy conditions, to 10-12 knots on calm days with artificial lures. - Capt Mike
Squid is awesome especially mutton dolphins giant grunts and grouper even flags cant get enough inks kinda messy otherwise one of the best baits you can use
FreekickerzUSA Look for well formed weed lines, color changes, rips and most importantly, working birds. Sometimes dolphin will be feeding on the edge in 100-200 ft, especially during the winter, and sometimes you have to go 20+ miles offshore. Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
+Lighthouse point Fishing Lots of hard work, and being 100% dedicated to making things happen as best as possible. Call me one day and we'll discuss it in detail. - Capt Mike - 954.942.7261
When you guys go out are you charter captains do you have a different job and do this as a hobby or do you get paid to be a sportfishing team and if the sportfishing team how would that work?
Oducks58 We publish Florida Sport Fishing Magazine which takes up most of our time. Producing Florida Sport Fishing TV is an additional full time job. With that being said, we only have limited time to fish a few tournaments but to be clear, this is all of our jobs/careers. Fortunately we are able to do something that we are very passionate about. Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
Love your magazine and videos, subscriber to both. BUT (there's always a but), you mentioned you didn't find any big gaffers yet your video depicts you guys keeping every large fish you caught. I get it, three fishermen aren't going to put a dent in the dolphin ecosystem but you guys are producing videos seen by thousands of fishermen. Maybe you can keep some of the big fish and also show you are releasing some of the big fish. Just a thought, not being hypercritical. You guys are great.

Hey guys, I was wondering if you run the radar often while you're in the tower (1:35)? Any dangers in doing so?
***** Thanks for watching, I do run the radar on occasion when in the tower. Nothing coming out of my body is glowing in the dark yet. - Capt Mike
Love your vids, informative and entertaining. Question: what are some good tell tale signs to look for when pushing offshore looking for dolphin? I know birds = bait = bigger fish that eat bait, but what are some other strategies I could use? Thanks Capt. Mike!

Justin Richburg Best to just keep one hooked and in the water. Keeps all of his friends interested. Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike
Yup don't know how many times ive had a nice schooly hooked and a clone swimming with it keeps the school close by 👍
Think of a baton race. Once new fish is tired enough to keep next to boat. Pull the old fish left in and get another. Repeat.
do you guys fish with fans or other fishermans? cause i really want to fish with you guys but i live in california. :(
carlos rivera Stay in touch, you never know....- Capt Mike
Florida Sport Fishing im always in touch with you guys.
Great show, but I forgot that 70% of the episode is ads.
Old episode, we have since greatly reduced the number of commercials. - Capt Mike

We call them sprats
Remember Kids, Mullet is a bait fish, NOT, a hairstyle.....
John Stacy LOL- Capt Mike
+John Stacy I don't appreciate the sargassum.
They reach 50 lbs in 9 months
Yes, they can under growing conditions with unlimited food.
