This guy deserves an award I just replace my radio and it’s awesome so easy to install and sound quality is great. Now i have wireless Bluetooth,auxiliary,and HD radio and the whole interior changes with only this radio changes looks way modern
I just watched this last night and couldn't believe how easy you made it look, I went out side this morning to see if it was that easy to remove the center pieces and it was. I am going to do some cleaning etc. Thanks for the videos. I have a 2008 4Runner Limited and I like the system that came with it although I did add a 10" subwoofer.

John Shipps John Shipps Yes I used all of them. The two female ends of the Metra 40-UV43 connect to the antenna wires, and the male end connects to the PT546-00120 AD.

Dude I've just ordered exactly the same head unit form LKQ off of 2015 Toyota Yaris and it was only $120. I'm about to order wiring harnesses form Toyota. I was about to spend $350 on aftermarket radio and wiring harnesses. Sweet video dude, thanks.

rodrigo lobos Those aren’t from Toyota. You can find them either on EBay or Amazon! The harness adapters are the only parts directly from Toyota

Thanks for watching! Yes there is a mic input. As for the back up camera, I remember reading that you have to tap into one of the existing lines

You had added a unit with HD Radio. That makes all the difference having digital channels and subchannels with no advertising, Just go to HD radio website and with your zip code will tell you all the digital channels you have in your area. I am in Houston and I love my 80s and 90s subchannel, beat satellite radio! I have a 2019 corolla and I just added a pioneer unit with android auto and HD radio. I could not be more happy. Black Friday is coming... Get some new speakers too.
I have the Pioneer AVH-X2700BS it does not have the big buttons, that look outdated and got with the Microphone and also was able to add a backup cam. Kicker Subwoofer in the back and APM going to add Navigation next
What did that come out of? How much harder or easier was it to install than this one?

Where is your aux/usb input located on your 2006 4Runner? Does the new radio work with the existing connection?
I just did this install and I’m trying to figure out the best way to add a usb or aux to work for the new radio. My 05 doesn’t come with this connection installed.
Excellent explaination! I am currently considering replacing the JBL E7008 radio, CD, nav head unit in my 2007 Limited. This JBL system has 8 speakers but is not the top of the line Synthesis system. Unfortunately it has a sub-woofer which is blown . I'm looking for a modest system utilizing the existing front and back seat door speakers and plan on disabling the sub-woofer all togeather, if possible.
Your video used a couple of harnesses and so it was basically a plug and play. My question is did you have to deal with a sub-woofer and if so, did you use the sub or bypass it. thx

And I wanted to add a mic and I am having trouble finding how to in stall a mic for phone. Any help would be great. Just received the same radio as you and all cables. Hoping for a smooth install. rodrigo lobos I believe the navigation software can either be on an SD card, or on a CD. I plan on adding a mic so I will certainly make a video on that
The nav is actually separate on this Toyota head unit which you have to buy cause this head unit did not come with it.
Great video. Been wanting to this to my 2005 4runner. I found the same stereo on CL that came off of 2018 Yaris. Looks exactly the same as yours. Haven't bought it yet. Mo Azimi Hard to tell, but it might not work considering others have tried it on their 2003 - 2005 4Runners

Adam Powell Thank you! Someone else on the 4Runner forums added a 2013 Corolla Entune radio (Basically same exact one as this) in their 2006 4Runner. They listed everything necessary to make it work.

I did this with a Sony headunit last year and replaced all the speakers with kickers, and it’s been absolutely great. Looking at your truck though, I’m just now realizing how bad my seats look. Did you get slip covers for yours, or is that custom upholstery?

Would this work with a PT546-00140 scion stereo? I know scion and Toyota are similar but hate to buy it and it not work…
IT will fit, just with the scion log on the screen

Forty FourRobo Check to make sure the ports are the same as the ones on the 06 4Runner, as well as on the harness adaptors. If I’m not mistaken, the 2017 Yaris radio is the same as my 2015 radio? If so, it should work!
But if it’s a different radio, check the ports and connectors to make sure they match. Good luck!

Did the radio have an input for a back up cam? And if so would it be difficult to wire the camera to the head unit?
Barret Harper Yes there is a way to add a back-up cam. I would say the installation is about average. It requires a lot of wiring, routing through the tailgate and through the body, and pulling out a lot of plastic panels. Also you have to wire the back-up cam into a specific input behind the radio
i did this swap with the same yaris radio, but i have a 2003 4runner. the yaris radio bolts right up but does not look as flush as yours. i have a 1cm gap around the radio...maybe the bracket is different for your 4runner.....what year and model is your oem radio? my oem radio looks different than yours....i will try to find the same brackets as your original stereo to close the gaps around my radio. thanks!!

ehii89xDlb.0ca Radio was from eBay and I got it for $150 at the time. Harness adaptors range between $20 - $30, and the antenna adaptors are like $5 - $10 each
I saw the same head unit online but it had the scion boot up logo and not the Toyota logo like yours does. Do you know what the deal is there?

Arthur hana By the looks of it, yes. Though keep in mind you’d have extra open ports which are for the microphone and back up camera
Just installed a new Sony touch screen radio in my 4th G 4runner. Works great but now the back hatch door won't unlock! what happened?
Check your fuses, it sounds like maybe you blew a fuse when installing
fun fact, i installed a 2019 toyota 86 radio in my 05 tundra with the same harnesses. so it should work in the 4runners too. even added a front and rear camera that i can control with the steering controls! just another radio option that plugs right in like this one.

@@pli0utyer yea theres a little video on my channel about it. As of right now its not in the truck. the new radio i have is giving me issues with the backup camera. but hopefully get it all back up and working shortly.

@@pli0utyer the 2019 radio works like a charm. the 2020 radio is the issue. its a long process. but it's looking like the ONLY way to make that radio happy is a stock camera. i have yet to source one to test this.

kevin bertelson Thank you! It’s tough to say since the 03-05 radios are slightly different compared to the 06-09. The wiring harnesses shouldn’t be different, but the radio bezel is for sure. You’d have to get a bezel from an 06-09 model but other than that, I think it should work

BhoyOhBhoy It looks like it could fit based on the size. The only way to know for sure is to pull it apart and look at the ports and harnesses, and mounting brackets.
