- వరి సాగులో నేరుగా విత్తే వెద పద్ధతికి ఆదరణ పెరుగుతోంది. డ్రమ్సీడర్, సీడ్ డ్రిల్తోపాటు నేరుగా విత్తనాలు చల్లుకొని నాటే విధానం విస్తరిస్తోంది. రాష్ట్రంలో 3 లక్షల హెక్టార్లలో రైతులు నేరుగా వరిని విత్తుకుంటున్నారు. ఖర్చు, సాగు కాలం కలిసి రావడమేకాకుండా పంట బాగా పెరిగి మంచి దిగుబడులు వస్తున్నందువల్ల అధికారులు కూడా పెద్ద ఎత్తున ప్రోత్సహిస్తున్నారు. ముఖ్యంగా గుంటూరు, కృష్ణా జిల్లాల్లో వెద సాగుపై రైతులు ఆసక్తి చూపుతున్నారు. ఐదారు వేలు ఖర్చులు తగ్గి... దిగుబడులు పెరుగుతున్నాయని హర్షం వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. అయితే కలుపు సమస్య ఒక్కటే వేధిస్తోందని...దీనికి పరిష్కారం చూపితే చాలంటున్నారు.

Watch out farmer friends: my observation....... Direct seeding undoubtedly saves time and money. But during/after the seed filling stage if there is an adverse weather condition coupled with high speed winds then there is every chance that the crop gets grounded and then becomes susceptible to aphid attack. Production drops drastically leading production loss . So act with caution.

Drum seeding is better than direct seed broadcast . But in adverse wind conditions it is next in line to the seed broadcasted crop. That is it can sustain a little longer to the direct seed broadcasted crop.
