Difference is the wah is used tastefully on these bends and not overdone like Hammett always does. They did this same exact technique in Shogun (both in the title track and Callisto I believe) and its just so awesome they brought it back in The Sin and the Sentence!!!

The melodic death metal influence is definitely there. They closed the album strong with this one.
The Tri from trivium is them combining melodic death metal, metalcore, and thrash. I know they were much more metalcore earlier, but this album and shogun are really more prog, thrash, and melodeath. But this album has a lot of black and death metal influences on it. Trivium just does it all I guess.

Two songs are enough for me to conclude that this new drummer opened up tons of new possibilities for Trivium. I haven't felt so happy listening to Trivium in a while. I'm totally glad that they're now in better form than ever.

I absolutely love the black/death metal influence in this song and that is spread out thru the album. Matt Heafy is such an underrated song writer and doesn’t get the credit he deserves

Feeling the same. I'm into the 20th listen through and still hear new things to digest. I have no favorite track, every single song is a classic and has their own vibe. My favorite is the whole album. Absolute masterpiece, perhaps the most fun I ever had with a metal album.

Slowbro They’ve got their work cut out for them following TSATS, but Alex is really going to lay down some crazy ass shit on the next few albums and I can’t fucking wait. It’d be sick to hear some more darker melodies like from this song in the next album, building off of TSATS. Everything on this album just catches my attention. Hoping to hear some black metal-esque writing to pair with Bent’s blasts, because the dude has an INCREDIBLE attention to detail.

I guess that's why we have differing opinions :) I myself see the album as an 8.5 or 9 but don't feel the need to tell other people they are wrong.
Album is a 9.5, song is a 10, video is like a 7. Lol It's just a bit simple and unimaginative. Still the first two are the most important. I am glad they did a video for this song though.
I do agree with you to some extent, the singles were definitely the weakest part of the album in my opinion. A few of the songs felt like they may have been slightly drawn out as well, but in my opinion this is the best album trivium has come out with in a long time and I think that is where the "fan girl" mentality is coming from; either way I can see how people give this album a 10 out of 10 and for me that is what makes music so great is that we are entitled to our own opinions and there is such a variety, heck if we all had the same opinion music would be pretty boring wouldn't it? And thank you for the suggestions always interested in checking out some new bands just listened to Swim Beneath My Skin by counterparts and it seems pretty good so far.

His double bass work is precise and clean..just the way anyone would ideally expect to be...I guess only other fellow drummers could understand how hard it is? Anyways, awesome song and a freakin awesome album fellas keep it up!!
Rahul Barigidad don't forget his single stroke hands work is powerfull yet very fast. My jaw is still dropped by his talent, absolutely outstanding performance. I love Nick Augusto and i love how he bring triplets bass drum pattern into Trivium, but Alex Bent killed all of Trivium ex -drummer
What makes Alex stand out are his intricate fills imo. Plenty of drummers can play double bass but don't get too creative outside of that. Bent is great on the cymbals and toms

Watched them and Arch Enemy at a concert. Definitely made me go and give this album a listen. It's now one of my all time favourites. It being my first concert made me want to branch out more and listen to more music from incredible artists. While She Sleeps and Fit for an Autopsy were also both incredible. Can't wait for my next concert.

Coming from someone who is not really the biggest Trivium fan I have to say he really is a good drummer. And to be honest I enjoy this whole album.

Jason LovesABR I'd say it's definitely heaviest off the album. Calling it the best is obviously subjective; I meant it's my personal favorite. I agree that the song lacks the variety present in the other tracks in the album but it just makes up for it (for me) by being really dark and atmospheric.

I just discovered this band today I'm late as fuck. I've listened to a couple of their songs and can't finish them cause I gotta get to the next one cause every time I hear the beginning of their songs I already like it and I'm excited to hear their other songs lol.
