Listening to these selected guitar parts and solos just reminds me what a great melodic guitar player Mark Knopfler is and that is why I have to say he is probably my number one influence when it comes to my own guitar playing and guitar tone. Recently I was playing in front of someone who I had met for the first time that night, they commented on my playing saying that they could hear so much Mark Knopfler in it, I took that as a tremendous compliment.
Ruud, don't mind the haters, you just made me cry, no one except Mark has done that for me... I've just been amazed... you left me speechless, that's how good you are....
