2 years ago, rg6 was the move in a completely drawn position that clenched the victory for Ding. Now it was rf2 in again, a completely drawn position that ultimately lead to gukesh's victory.
@snide1574 you're right, but it still can be argued that these two moves were the turning points of the game in drawn positions, which no one expected.
Just for everyone: Please let's still give respect to the former world champion Ding, remember few months ago, everyone said Gukesh would demolish him and today, we saw how close it actually was. Ding smiled during the press but it's still worrying what might happen later on, as Gukesh said, we knew that he's not feeling well but he still considered as a true champion. Let's congratulate Gukesh without humiliating the opponent, Ding fought well.
He deserves respect. But also, he was negative. He played not to lose, Gukesh played to win. And, but for a couple of moment, Gukesh wins comfortably before this match. Put Ding in Chess960 and he'll struggle against the elite.
This!!! I fully agree. Ding fought sooooo well! He is an amazing fighter and so inspiring. Of course, congratulations to Gukesh! Both of them had a simply stunning performance! My support goes for both of them, and I hope people can acknowledge the former and current world champion! Amazing players!!!
I still remember Gukesh’s video with Sagar where he said he wants to be the youngest world chess champion, and today the mad lad actually did it! Incredibly heart warming to see! Huge congratulations to Gukesh ❤
@zambot264 I just don't get how this mentality is real. It's giving cringe primary school vibes. Yes magnus is the best and gukesh is the current champ. Grow up.
22:03 Bro wanted to talk more and open his heart on the camera but remembered that he is recording a recap and doing his job, and it has to be kinda short, and he wants to post it fast..
Ding's inconsistent switch between being shaky and absolute clutch put his opponent out of whack. I think Gukesh underperformed here, like Magnus did against Karjakin.
Karajakin played better than Gukesh did. And to be fair to Magnus, Karajakin is a very good tournament player. He's got some of the most decisive wins against magnus out there.
The reason why gukesh win because he was continuously taking risk in every match, where ding was trying to be solid didn't taking much risk and playing passive at most times, today as well ding was trying for draw while gukesh was pushing with black, let's go Gukesh, Proud moment of India 🇮🇳
That wasn't the reason he won . Dings strategy was working pretty well and the game would have gone to tie breaks if ding hadn't blundered under time pressure .
@@Just_a_30he got lucky multiple times if we're being honest, and he wasnt pressing when he had an advantage, im a huge Ding fan but Ding had a streak of good luck in this match until the very last game
People are so quick to throw around the world blunder in these hight level matches, but this time it is really justified. That was legitimately a move I would not expect even a club player to miss.
Yeah, it's honestly kind of shocking how things ended, even if Gukesh winning wasn't surprising in the end. Was curious how the tiebreaks would have gone.
Wow, this is incredible! I wasn’t expecting the World Championship to be decided in Game 14. I had very low hopes for Gukesh, especially since Ding was showing such brilliance. By the end of the game, I had almost given up on Gukesh. And then this 18-year-old pulls off an amazing comeback in the last World Cup classic game to become the youngest World Champion!
As a indian also i wanted to see Gukesh win but as a chess fan more i feel bad whenever someone loose with a blunder . We indian chess fans never hated you Ding , You are trully a former World Chess Champion .
That's insane. Massive props to Gukesh for continuing to put pressure at every chance, not letting Ding go for a strategy of maximum rest, continuing to get Ding into time trouble, and in the very last game, in the final few minutes of Ding's clock, with the last few pieces on the board, it finally paid off.
Totally deserved! Gukesh was the only one playing to win the whole match in every game. and Ding was just looking for quick draws in 20 moves. Congratulations Gukesh, you are worthy World Champion!
Being a Gukesh fan, my heartiest congratulations to him and his flighting spirit 🎉 Also respect for Ding Now apart from Hikaru, Nepo and Fabi, I WANT MAGNUS, AJUN & NODIRBEK TO PLAY THE NEXT CANDIDATES 😍
I was still for the last 5 minutes..... I couldn't believe what was happening in front of our eyes.... Very unfortunate from Ding's part, but he played like a true champion in these last 14 games even though he was not in his best shape physically and mentally. Hearty Congratulations to Gukesh and his team..... Gukesh stood his stand till the very end .... Also, a huge thanks to Vishy Anand for making all this possible.... Without him, India would not be where it is now in Chess .... Congratulations 👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉
its hard to know what depression can do to someone who hasnt lived it, props to ding and I wish him the best, he’ll forever be my favourite chess player
EXACTLY TRY PLAYING A GAME OF MIND WITH MENTAL ISSUES NOT SO EASY HELL IMPOSSIBLE THE FACT THAT HE DIDN'T GET BLOWN OVER THE BOARD LONG BACK IS MINDBOGGLING. This guy is very dangerous kudos for playing this long sad that he wasn't in peak form would have been a much better match this was just ding fighting against 2 opponents one his opponent and the other himself .Hope the former champ gets well soon and win with whatever demons he's fighting.
Congratulations gukesh 🎉🎉 Also please everyone stop hating this two player I saw how some people are hating gukesh and some are hating ding liren I just wanna say Even if you take Multiple birth you won't be able to reach what they did
Absolutely heartbreaking. I was cheering for Ding all along precisely because I didn't want to see it end like this. Ding deserves so much more than to be a footnote in the history of the World Championship because personal issues got in the way of him being his best self. Having said that, Gukesh is amazing and also absolutely deserves to be world champion. I'm looking forward to his first defense already.
@Just_a_30 wtf.... No... If anything it is prolly a political statement which only Indians can understand... Or maybe it's not even that, just a harmless appreciation of gukesh
i did expect gukesh to win but not like this 😢 It felt like Ding lost to himself. Ironic that when last world champion, Ding risked it all with rg6 and won, now he tried to play it safe and lost it all
Ding defended his title with more skill than I think was expected of him given the last year or so that he has had. Gukesh played with notable poise for such a young man. It is fitting though that the title was won on what was essentially a blunder. Ding had not been in top form for quite a while, and this ending showed it. I hope he does not get demoralized by this and devotes himself to a more rigorous regimen of play in the future because when he is at his best, he truly is world champion calibre. Gukesh, on the other hand, is ushering in what I think may be the Indian era for chess, akin to the Soviet dominance of the post war era. Very interested to see where we go from here ....
Theres a certain poetic irony to Ding’s plan of killing the game and trading down trying to get a draw, figuring he’s better in faster time controls, losing due to all those factors.
Gukesh deserved it. He played with more ambition and hunger for victory throughout the entire match. With the same attitude I always have when I play chess.
The game ended 25 mins ago, and we already have 22 min long video of Levi already, inpressive, he was watching while recording, inpressive! Rooting for Levi now, to become GM, go Levi goo.....
Congrats Gukesh. I’m sad for Ding, he is really good and sadly lost to one blunder. He is an incredible player and proved so many people wrong, who thought he would get thrashed. Gukesh said such lovely words about him. What amazing sportsmanship❤️
Gukesh means black hair which is associated with Lord shiva but these westerners don't know it and many indians dont so i think it's fine although the word gukesh has much better meaning than any chad
All things said, I think Ding did a great job in this World Championship. There were definitely games that showed that he deserves to be in that seat, all while dealing some mental health troubles. Congrats to Gukesh too!
I started following Ding LiRen in 2020. Your chess game against baijinshi really surprised me. You can always calculate the most accurate move and the riskiest move. Every time I watch you play chess I feel like you are walking on a tightrope high in the sky. The saddest thing for me is when everyone is saying that you don't deserve to be a world champion, even you yourself say that I may lose to gukesh badly, but you have done very well, although it is not like your peak. But in the 12th game, I seemed to see you back then. Finally, I want to say pls don't not retire. I still want to continue to watch you play chess.I believe you will come back next year with a more confident, happier and stronger version of yoirself DingLiren🔥. But congratulations to the youngest world champion in history- Gukesh D!!
It was by far the worst match ever, ding blundering like a 500 elo player for no reason, no wonder why magnus stopped playing this nonsense, ding is a disgrace for chess
I want to congradulate Ding for letting Gukesh win. He already had the chance to become world champion and that was very kind and humble of him to give someone else a chance.
This also means Ding will finally have the weight off his shoulders and could focus on his mental health without the pressure of being the World Champion.
I usually get scolded by my parents for celebrating loudly when my team wins in Cricket/Football. This is the first time I got scolded for loudly celebrating a win (more specifically a move) in a chess match 😂!!
The fact that he was up on so much time that late in the game really is the X factor. Say what you want to, but that is an overwhelming advantage. Ding always wastes time, but he almost never leaves himself with this much of a time disparity. Especially this late in the game. Time advantage *is* a winning factor in chess. Specifically on the world stage.
I checked the broadcast for the first time about 90 minutes ago, saw that Gukesh had an extra pawn but everything was on the same side of the board and assumed it would be a draw and tuned out. Then I checked back in an hour later and RIGHT as I started watching Ding resigned. Bruh

We could see the sadness on Ding's Face in the Post interview, even as a Indian I felt bad. Respect to the man😔♥️♥️
Just for everyone: Please let's still give respect to the former world champion Ding, remember few months ago, everyone said Gukesh would demolish him and today, we saw how close it actually was.
I hope ding get his mental health better
@@karlhandley9375 Before the match, both players had their own ups and downs. Chess960 has nothing to do with any of this.
@@karlhandley9375 Before the match, both players had their own ups and downs. Chess960 has nothing to do with any of this.
I still remember Gukesh’s video with Sagar where he said he wants to be the youngest world chess champion, and today the mad lad actually did it! Incredibly heart warming to see! Huge congratulations to Gukesh ❤
Congrats but we all know who is the champ
@zambot264 I just don't get how this mentality is real. It's giving cringe primary school vibes.
Yes magnus is the best and gukesh is the current champ. Grow up.
22:03 Bro wanted to talk more and open his heart on the camera but remembered that he is recording a recap and doing his job, and it has to be kinda short, and he wants to post it fast..
After 13 years it’s coming home where the game was born

We love ding also , he his most humble chess player 😊. Love from india
@@WeAre-p3usorry we indian never love china 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
We love Ding in India too, most of us relate to him well.
Tbh I was rooting for ding but congratulations to Gukesh 🥳🎉
now no hate to gukesh gg ding gukesh
Ding's inconsistent switch between being shaky and absolute clutch put his opponent out of whack. I think Gukesh underperformed here, like Magnus did against Karjakin.
Experience should make him better
Karajakin played better than Gukesh did. And to be fair to Magnus, Karajakin is a very good tournament player. He's got some of the most decisive wins against magnus out there.
The reason why gukesh win because he was continuously taking risk in every match, where ding was trying to be solid didn't taking much risk and playing passive at most times, today as well ding was trying for draw while gukesh was pushing with black, let's go Gukesh, Proud moment of India 🇮🇳
🎯🎯🎯
Ding had poor time management too
That wasn't the reason he won .
@@maximussaktish how can you have luck in chess game
People are so quick to throw around the world blunder in these hight level matches, but this time it is really justified. That was legitimately a move I would not expect even a club player to miss.
Yeah, it's honestly kind of shocking how things ended, even if Gukesh winning wasn't surprising in the end. Was curious how the tiebreaks would have gone.
LITERALLYY CRYINGG!! I JUST GOT INTO CHESS DURING THE CANDIDATES AND TO SEE GUKESHS' JOURNEY THIS FAR IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA
We indian chess fans never hated you Ding , You are trully a former World Chess Champion .

yes congrats to Gukesh!
Great summary of the games. No wonder I'm rinsed! It's been epic!!
A very sad ending for Ding but congrats to Gukesh. Both defied expectations and gave us a wonderful series. Love them both
That's insane. Massive props to Gukesh for continuing to put pressure at every chance, not letting Ding go for a strategy of maximum rest, continuing to get Ding into time trouble, and in the very last game, in the final few minutes of Ding's clock, with the last few pieces on the board, it finally paid off.
Next Chess Championship Matchups should be either of the following:
1)Gukesh vs Magnus
2)Gukesh vs Arjun E
3)Gukesh vs Ding 2.0
Yeah Ding with perfect condition
@SarpinpoTeron-s4h Nah, dont insult Ding.
I want to see Gukesh vs Magnus to see who the real world champion is!!!
Ist one is quite unlikely sadly
Yea that’s only if ding can find his old form
Totally deserved! Gukesh was the only one playing to win the whole match in every game. and Ding was just looking for quick draws in 20 moves. Congratulations Gukesh, you are worthy World Champion!
Being a Gukesh fan, my heartiest congratulations to him and his flighting spirit 🎉
Also respect for Ding
Now apart from Hikaru, Nepo and Fabi, I WANT MAGNUS, AJUN & NODIRBEK TO PLAY THE NEXT CANDIDATES 😍
Ding chilled until he froze 🥶
Heart... Break. Not how I want any champion lose their title. Congratulations to Gukesh, a deserving champion, heart of a lion
Congratulations gukesh 🎉🎉
Also please everyone stop hating this two player
I saw how some people are hating gukesh and some are hating ding liren

Even if you take Multiple birth you won't be able to reach what they did

Hey FCB 😍 you here!!!
I'm looking forward to his first defense already.

i did expect gukesh to win but not like this 😢 It felt like Ding lost to himself.
With the same attitude I always have when I play chess.
and also prepared way better.
And also you are a glazer

This World Championship had so many fun moments. GGs all around.
True man.
I usually get scolded by my parents for celebrating loudly when my team wins in Cricket/Football. This is the first time I got scolded for loudly celebrating a win (more specifically a move) in a chess match 😂!!
Ding is a very happy person, finally he can forget about chess and all the pressure on him.
RESPECT FOR DING FROM INDIA
When he was 11 said I wish to become the youngest world chess champion and at 18 he did it. GUKESH DOMMARAJU THE NEW LEGEND
Bruh
Yup same here lol
