- I started as a pilot in the Swedish Airforce 1980 and for one of my first salaries I bought my Bianchi Rekord 748. This was 38 years ago so I thought it was time for an upgrade. (But I will not sell my old one ☺️).
I found exactly what I wanted and I found that the autumn is a very good time for buying a bike. A Bianchi Infinito XE Disc.

I’ve got a Bianchi as well. I bought it four years ago and still love riding it. It helps me stay in shape and gives me something to do between my trips.

Bjorn, thank you so much for the information regarding the saddle of your old Bianchi! I followed your suggestion and found an old Selle Italia Sprint saddle (in new condition) on eBay, at a great price. I cannot wait to put it on my newly acquired 1982 Nueva Racing and make it completely original again. Should you fly into Dallas Texas someday, let me know. I have several old vintage bikes (including a Gios Professional 1984) and Eddy Merckx has been my idol since 1969. Keep your heart celeste forever, as well as your great passion for cycling! Ahaaa! I’ve been following your channel for a few weeks now and enjoy every minute of your very informative videos. Today you touched upon my hobby which is vintage high end bikes. I happen to have a 1979 Bianchi Superleggera in celeste green just like your Rekord, just a few different components. The ride is superb!!! Glad to see you have an interest in bikes. Safe travels my friend!

bjorn pilot Very smooth ride especially with a nice set of tubulars. I agree with your statement about the brakes not providing the needed comfort. Of course a modern bike would be much more suitable for speedy downhill rides. I use my classic Bianchi for leisure rides at 25 Kohl’s at most

Disc brakes might not be necessary on the new one but suppose they are more efficient at least in the wet. 🌦
bjorn pilot You can certainly find them online, here in the US at least. How do you like your new bike? Did you get used to it yet? It takes me time to get used a new bike but after that it fits like a glove.

3:55 small world, Bjorn, huh?? Crazy! I had a Southwest Captain on one of MY flights that I was a passenger on that lived right next to a Community College's campus that I went to, I'm at a University now. He went to Elementary (lower) school there! It was pretty cool! After the flight, I visited him in the cockpit and he continued the conversation where we left off back in Orlando, Florida at the gate. He's a really sweet guy too!!! a bit energetic though lol! Small world!!! He's living in Chicago now. I've flown as an airline passenger 63 times spread through 9 airlines! I fly mostly domestic as a passenger. 65 flights in total for me, 1 was my discovery flight, and the other was a biplane flight at a flying circus near me.

I didn’t like the tires that came with the bike, so I switched to Continental Grand Prix 4 Season tires. Otherwise, no complaints.

Congratulations on the new Bianchi! Those full Campy Record steel bikes from the late 70s early 80s are classics and should always be in the stable somewhere, because, well, steel is real, right?

I had an old 2000 Bianchi. It was a great bike and I loved riding it but after two shoulder surgeries I switched to a comfort bike. Now I get laughed at but it's much easier on my body.

Awesome video, I too love my bikes and am looking to get a new one. It seems some bikes are more expensive and harder to get hold of because of corona virus, I've been waiting for a couple really good ones to come in stock but they sell out within an hour and I keep missing it. A quick suggestion, it would be nice if you filmed an outtro with you speaking, rather than showing the bike (just something to keep in mind for future I guess).

I love vintage bikes (I have 8) and own a 1982 Bianchi Nuovo Racing. Could you tell me the brand and model of your saddle? Ah Sweden, what a great country for cycling and... Rock n' Roll! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. The saddle Sprint was made by Selle Royal, it really classy and goes well with the Bianchi. I bought my Bianchi Nuova Racing 1982 with an Advocet saddle (not correct for the bike). So for now, I am using an old San Marco Concor Laser, but probably a 1986/87 model (not quite sure). I am looking for a time period correct saddle (1982). I am pretty sure the 1982 Bianchi Piaggio pro team bikes (Baronchelli, Contini, Prim) were equiped with a Selle Italia saddle (Superleggera?). Perhaps you can ask the great Tommy Prim, if you see him someday on a bike ride in your beautiful Sweden! ;-) Keep your fantastic passion for cycling and your heart color celeste! My record on flat ground was 65 kmph and 93 kmph on descent. I use Chromoly frame or otherwise steel. I love climbs and Chromoly frames, and Shimano parts are great!
Why do you think Chromemoly frames are so good?
@@bjornpilot I like chromoly frames because it is cheap, and very sturdy and light material. Not as light as carbon frames, but much cheaper and sturdy.

@@bjornpilot No problem. I love cycling too, especially uphill climbs. I discovered chromoly, and it does distribute vibrations through the body when changing gears. It won't do that as much on carbon frames, which is more for aggressive type of cycling.
