One hidden (stupid) benefit with R7 C3PO is actually that it beefs him up even more for CLS squad, which means that your R5ish CLS will definitely be the weakest guy on the team for Chewie's Guard. That, in turn, allows you to maybe be more lenient with the modding, since you won't have to worry as much about C3PO at R7 not being the weakest character on the squad (which means that you can actually beef up CLS more through mods)
My CLS is already weaker, I just gave 3PO protection where I could with a lot of potency. My eventual goal is to have that whole squad R7 but obviously very far down the road
