Hi! I would say that you should really pack what you really need. Your first year can get quite overwhelming so get yourself in a rhythm as quick as you can. Make sure you find things on campus to do for enjoyment, there’s plenty of opportunities. People at UB can be tricky & messy, so be wary but be social. Oh and perfect your study habits from now so it’ll be easier when you start.
Hi, thank you for making this video it was very helpful. I transferred in for the Spring Semester but I was completely online. I’m from Brooklyn, NY. So MY QUESTION: What’s the best or easiest way of travel; train, plane or car? To get to UB.
Each way has different things you have to consider. If you’re moving in with a lot of stuff, I would suggest the bus/train or a car. If you have a car and would like to use it while you’re at UB (parking is free) then I would suggest coming in the car to just have it however the drive can be treacherous if you’re not used to driving 6-8 hours. Typically if traveling light, students like to take the train or bus because those tickets tend to be way cheaper than the plane. If you travel by plane be aware of the weight limit for your suitcase because they won’t let you pass due to the fact those planes are very small. Also getting plane tickets in advance is key because it can easily be $200 for a one way ticket back to the city whereas a calm $90. My personal favorite is by car or by plane.
I’m thinking of transferring my senior year, i’m currently stuck between going to NYC for college or to Buffalo. Problem is, I don’t know anyone in Buffalo and I feel like it’s gonna be hard to make friends especially with this pandemic and the fact that I’ve heard campus is empty asf. But how is the campus right now? Do you think it’s gonna be packed in the fall ?
At UB there are so many opportunities and events to meet people but you can meet people by accident just chilling in a line for food. Despite the pandemic, there are going to be in person classes in the fall which will give you the opportunity to befriend classmates. On top of the classes being in person, clubs and organizations on campus should be allowed to host interactive/in-person events. Even during the pandemic, campus was packed from an outsiders pov. Even for me personally, I would walk into SU & be like why are there so many bodies.

Hey soy, great video 👍.. I wanted to ask something regarding UB. I have been admitted to UB for fall 2021 undergraduate, and I also have received scholarship. But I wanted to know whether, do we have any additional scholarship opportunities, once we get into the University based on our activities, academic, etc ? Also, do we get any tuition waiver, if I manage to get any research, teaching etc assistance ship ?
Hi! If you already have an academic scholarship, you can still apply for more scholarship opportunities. If the school has nothing more to offer there are websites such as fastweb.com which has a lot of other scholarship opportunities. Once in the university, you can work on campus but that money won’t go straight to your tuition, it’ll go to your own bank account.
Hey I'm planning on going to ub but I'm scared of how big classes can be since it's such a big university I was wondering are all classes very big or some?
Hi! For your first year, your classes sizes are going to be big for general subjects that everyone has to take. If you do end up in a large class, I do recommend using office hours for your professors and your ta’s (teaching assistants) in order to learn the material more intimately. As you get through the required courses for your major, they tend to get smaller and smaller.
Fitting into a PWI described school seems to be almost everyone’s top concern, but I’m positive that you’ll fit in fine. The black community really & honestly sticks together and we’re all over campus. There are also clubs like CSA, BSU & ASA that you can join to find more people that you can click with. Stop by any CSA events & I’ll be there! UB is a difficult school academically but socially? Yeah I like it here!
The apartments on campus and nearby campus vary in price. The ones surrounding campus range from to the high $600’s to $900 per month. It is important to note what utilities are included in the rent because it would be an extra payment. There are typically high numbers of availability for the most part however it’s a limited amount.
Hi! On my channel there is a video titled University at Buffalo South Campus dorm and it’s an example of Clement dorms. It is where I lived my first year and I absolutely loved it, wouldn’t have chosen another dorm at all.
Hey is it weird for an upcoming freshman to be dorming at Fargo? I know some other freshman at Fargo but I heard it’s mostly upperclassmen so I was wondering if there’s barely gonna be any freshman living at Fargo or even Red Jacket
It is not weird at all for incoming freshmen to be dorming in Fargo. It occasionally happens that freshmen don’t typically live where they usually do. For example, Goodyear Hall was an upperclassmen dorm during my freshman year but I knew a bunch of freshmen that lived in there.
UB is honestly a great school. The dorms are usually clean but there are honestly occasionally issues with ants that I have heard of. It really depends on which dorm you are at. The beds are okay to sleep on but no matter what I always tell people to buy a foam mattress pad for extra comfort!

Sorry for such a last response! During my first semester, I wish that actually went out and went to parties and stuff. I am not very knowledgeable on the academics for the graduate programs at UB however I am aware that there are several options for graduate school. Academics at UB whether it’s undergraduate or graduate are typically quite demanding and require a lot of focus. Reaching out to the School of Management Office inquiring about the program curriculum or looking at the program curriculum for your desired degree will help a lot.
Yes! Freshmen are allowed to have cars on campus, there are designated parking lots for students. You just have to apply for a parking pass which are also free to undergraduate students.
Typically to find internships, you have to do a lot of research and reaching out on your own so it’s not always easy. Depending on the way your major department is handled, there can be emails of internship or research opportunities being consistently sent out.

The rooms look exactly the same all the way around, with a couple of adjustments depending on which side you live on. Someone’s cost of attendance will vary based on financial aid, any other grants they’ve been given and whether or not they are an EOP student. Paying completely out of pocket, I would imagine COA to be around $23,000 per year.
