- Here is a demo of my recently completed instrument commission. With similar dimensions to a lap Dulcimer, this instrument has been purpose-built for a gentleman in the US who is having physical issues fretting a regular guitar. I called it “The Promise” in part as it carried my commitment to aim to make an instrument that could hopefully open doors to him that may have seemed closed.
This instrument is a joy to handle and play, it's loud and has a bright, vibrant open tone. I’m really proud of this one.
The neck is PNG Rosewood with an Ipe fretboard. The horn is Cedar and the rest is aircraft-grade birch plywood, from 1.5mm to 3mm. The scale length is 570mm and the bridge is a cedar centre with Ipe outer.
