As a true Bristolian, born and bred in Bristol, I can guarantee it's a beautiful city to live in with a history going back many, many centuries, but with al the facilities of a much bigger place, with all that you'd need in the modern world. You'll love it!
Joe, by commenting on clutter and bed linens, shows he isn't actually seeing the home. The clutter and bed linens are not coming with the house so don't waste your attention on them.
I do not agre whit it being wrong looking at propertys online as being serious. Maybe uk marked is different. When I wanted to buy a house in Spain i was in Norway and looking only on the internet for 2 years. And then when I knew i was getting the money I looked for 6 houers every day for 2 weeks. I had never been to the area where I was looking. I was recomended the area from a friend. So then the day after i arriwed I had the real estate agent show me around 5 houses i had picked out. And then I signed the contract for the house i asumed I would buy. I have had this house now for 9 years. And I am wery satisfied with it. I think that if i had just come her and started looking, I would have found it confusing and difficult. Never buy a house without looking at it first. But looking at internett can make you learn a lot about the marked and the prices. Internet is a good way for looking at homes.
Your situation is far different! Most people would be uncomfortable ordering a car online let alone a house. Generally speaking, house hunting can be researched but eventually you are going to want to be inside a house before you know you want to live in it!
Yes. Between the costs of down payments, closing costs, 7-8% interest rates and any updates or remodels etc. any "profit margin" that our parents once experienced is now eaten up. Sadly, those days are gone.....
But all of that existed back then though. The numbers are just higher now. Taxes and updates and closing costs and interest rates and down payments weren’t $0, lol.
A budget of 270k in the Cotswolds is a bit of a joke for what they’re asking for. My budget for my next house will be around that (only based on my salary, not including my partners) and I’m looking in the north west. You need a budget of about 500k to get something decent there.
I find it fascinating that so many people in this series turn down homes because the bedroom is too dark. That's the whole point, guys. You don't need a lot of light when sleeping. The less the light, the better for long term health actually. The "popular" road should be less impactful from the thick stone walls in the basement as well.
All these people who want space for dinner parties and entertaining. Do what the Japanese do: keep their houses for themselves and socialise with friends at restaurants. Although having said that, Japanese restaurants are much more reasonable than those in Britain.
@@joannaandroulaki4168 But still! Like...a mattress, headboard, wardrobe?! They just seem logistically impractical, counter to their occurrence in British houses.
When I was in England while stationed at R.A.F. Upper Heyford I also loved the out doors. The weather I might have to contend with whilst on a pub crawl.
Paul and Ellie...if the wall between the kitchen and sitting room isn't load bearing, they could open it up for a bigger room. Nab this flat! It's a bargain.
I wonder if they are still happy living in Bristol. It's not the best place, the shopping area is gone, and clean air zone charges will only worsen. Bus gates everywhere. Central area being moved to south Glos. It's not a nice place to live anymore.
The 1st house was kool! They had the walls cluttered with stuff, areas was cluttered with stuff they should've removed prior to marketing for selling. Their realtor failed them.
The original budget was already too optimistic that's why they daren't stretch to the last property. Joe is greedy, timid and unrealistic. Not the best character traits to build upon.
I don't feel that Joe is greedy. Buying a house, adding value, selling and moving up or simply along, has been a way of doing things for years. The message is that that type of opportunity is not as available as it once was so all that pre-programming that has gone on in Joe's entire upbringing with regard to how to handle real estate has to change if he is to be successful. If not, he should simply invest his income and rent and trust his wife will be happy with that. 🙂
gah not enough room for 4-6 pple round , cafes and pubs...good grief you wont be youngish forever, friends will move on have families etc and the cost o living will curtail cafe culture. what on earth are pple thinking?
I was thinking the same. So many say they want to be close to pubs and all the social scene, and entertain at home. But reality is that all cost a lot and with a mortgage and living costs isn't sustainable. And your fiends walk out of your place and go home, and you're the one with the expenses.
No one is saying they will have this flat forever. It’s difficult to plan for the long term. I say buy somewhere that will suit your needs for the next five or so years and plan to move to your next place for the next stage of your life, whatever that is. Don’t try to buy a place for the life you’re going to live 10 plus years from now.

I visited it before covid, because of Being Human. I thought the city was BEAUTIFUL, vibrant and not too big.
I'm from the US, FYI.
Thank you for posting these! They're my life's blood, my immunity against all the ills of the world. THANK YOU!!!
lol such drama
@@lugubrioz ...drama? What drama?? (I don't do drama!)
I love Paul and Kirstie 's personality with each other.
I do too' I prefer this couple to the American version!
What a great makeover. The young man comments at the end about the love of his family was beautiful 🤩

They just won’t looking at what is important! Stupid!😢
When I was a Realtor i had many buyers that needed a little chat about that. Even paint colors were an issue. Paint is cheap and easy fix!
Polished, entertaining, educational... time well spent watching!
Bristol countryside is so lovely, I want to move there, too ;)
Love kirsties dress sense. Really suits her.
The typical 1st time buyers: UNREALISTIC! Everything they want costs money they don’t have. You’ve got to start somewhere that you can afford!

Phil and the lady are very chic
Nice sense of humor
And very competent

@@thehungrygoldfishjust as salaries are also much much higher...people don't work for a pound a day any more...
In the case of the funky old bathroom, Joe is rejecting what he doesn't like while claiming he wants to change things.
I don’t see anything wrong with pointing out what he doesn’t like.

I was wondering how old this episode is because both couples’ budgets seem low!
@@BeckyPartridge1 It was May 2015, so almost 9 years ago. I bet the prices of those cottages is a lot higher now.
They’ve done so well to have found the properties there(Cotswolds) at their price range. I’m surprised

*How do people move bedrooms into spaces with spiral staircases*??!!! That's one of the things that boggles my mind.
Piece by piece .... ?
@@joannaandroulaki4168 But still! Like...a mattress, headboard, wardrobe?! They just seem logistically impractical, counter to their occurrence in British houses.
I'd be terrified of falling down those narrow steps.
It's a pain for exactly 2 days - move in, and move out. Given the apparent popularity, I think the movers will be able to handle it.
I’ve got 4 bedrooms full of stuff up a spiral staircase, plus a slimline washing machine and tumble dryer.
When I was in England while stationed at R.A.F. Upper Heyford I also loved the out doors. The weather I might have to contend with whilst on a pub crawl.
I like the hosts of the show. They’re snarky, but not in the normal British way.

285000 costing house was really nice, can't understand why Joe rejected it.
You're in England. They are not called bars. They are pubs!
Great episode, but what has Kirsty done to her eyebrows? She looks constantly surprised!
15 years with Phil on this show does that to her!? 😂
Help, anyone know the name of the music at 2:00? I've been trying to find it for ages
commercial after commercial featuring it
This show was filmed 9 years ago, I wonder how much real estate prices have gone up since then in these areas.
Park where???
It’s the UK…driveways and garages are not common because most houses are terraced.

(11:21) A refrigerator IN THE BEDROOM!!!! Oh sure...
