Great video! Just adding for the families out there. For a family of 4, we spend an average of $1300 USD/month in the southern state of Santa Catarina. I do cook for my family, and we only eat out once every 2 weeks. We are so grateful because it allows me to be home full time with our boys. I enjoy your content! 😊
Thanks Brandi ! Yes not having to constantly worry about expenses is one of the best things about living here. You get to do so much more valuable things like spending time with family, enjoying nature, hobbies etc. I saw how my parents worked for the "American dream" and decided thats not what I wanted. Best decision I've ever made !
Family of 4, I guess there are kids in there. Do they go to a public school? I found that school is the biggest expense here in Brazil when you have kids. And public schools have such a bad reputation, I don't know if that's deserved or not.
@TechDaddyFr hi! My eldest attends public school. We've found it's best for him learning the language. We supplement with homeschooling curriculum. Just subscribed to your channel. Fellow techie here!😊
Thanks for watching!! Yeah London is crazy lol. I remember paying £1200 for a 2 bedroom flat in Colindale North London back in 2008. It’s still cheaper to live in Brazil 16 years later 😦
Great video again how can I an american with a cpf live in brazil I'm married to a brazilian we live in America but she has no plans of moving to Brazil her family is also here?
@@paulfonseca1389 You would need to go to your local Brazilian embassy with your passport and wedding certificate and try to get permanent residency status through your marriage. They may honor it, it’s best to go there and ask them
Yes it's soooo cheap! They've actually built a new more sanitary structure near the ferry boats that they're migrating the merchants to. They have their own booths and freezers and there a re rows of shops with labelled booth numbers. Much safer, cleaner and I'd definitely buy meat there instead of the older location
Thank you for the information. How about people with wife and kids. How is private school in Salvador compared to other city? Also, which neighborhood is safe because a lot was written about Bahia online. Thank you.
This is a loaded question, but check out this article that details the best private schools in Salvador. Among them that I would choose is Pan American School of Bahia. But it ask depends on what you actually want in a private school. There’s several factors that you should consider when weighing schools in Bahia against schools in other cities like curriculum, foreign college prep, price, classroom size etc but it depends on what you want. As for neighborhoods, the safest would be Barra, Ondina, Vitória, Laura de Freitas, Graça and Canela. www.quintoandar.com.br/guias/escolas-particulares-em-salvador/
I am also in Salvador and I would add that it's possible if you have no kid and no car. But if you have a child, good schools are insanely expensive here in Salvador. The one my daughter goes to is already close to $1000. I had to choose this one because it's the only one aligned on the European calendar but a good school starts around $300 per month. Then if you want a car, even the most basic Citroën C3, it costs you R$2200 ($425) per month. And gasoline is expensive also. It really depends on your family structure. With a kid, difficult to go without a good school and a car.
Yeah very true! My wife and I don't have any kids yet and most viewers are alone and want to stay extended periods of time or live here. I mentioned in the video that I'm basing calculations as a single person. But we looked into Maple Bear and Pan American School of Bahia to start planning early and its about that price or more
Wow ! That's amazing! Congratulations to the two of you brother. We just got married last month ourselves and we look forward to those days where we can say we've been with each other that long. Thanks so much or watching !
Bro Rocky, just finished this vid too! Pleaseee don’t tell me Brazil got a Sam’s Club!!! 😮 My goodness all Americans would love this news. Bro Rocky do they have a Sephora or Ulta in Brazil?? It’s women’s Makeup place. South Africa don’t have it but I think a saw Brazil maybe?? Any other American Stores that you know of there? Bro Rocky ready to come!!!
Hey, thanks for watching! I don’t think they have an Ulta but they definitely have a Sephora here in Salvador Shopping mall. So they probably have one in Rio and São Paulo. There are a bunch of other American stores and equivalents that are just as good, it just depends on what you’re looking for exactly

Feira de São Joaquim is amazing for fruits, vegetables and some seafood. You still have to get your meat elsewhere but it's worth the trip.
