The rest of us had finished eating, and he was opening the second Whopper when we chimed in and got him to put it away so we could get home. "Yeah, I guess I should save this for later" he says. Then we get back to the apartment building, get inside, and he's *_finished eating the second burger before we've even reached the damn apartment._* The Burger King was literally _five minutes away from the building. _*_Less if you didn't get any red lights._*
Part of the reason I did not care for that episode. It seemed out of character for both of them. Using this episode as an example for Jake. It would be odd for someone who doesn't want kids to use the word "yet" when referring to not having any unless they were trying to avoid an argument with a preachy parent, which Terry is not. Also, no way in Hell would Amy get married without making sure they are on the same page about kids, shit I am not nearly as mature as her and I won't enter any sort of committed relationship without making my stance on kids clear.

Some people's line in the sand really is having kids, so if that's really how Amy felt, then her ultimatum is fair. Demanding Jake air his extremely personal reasons on the spot, in the format she wanted, in front of an audience? That wasn't fair, or funny. I really wish they hadn't gone the stereotypical route here, and Jake had been able to convince Amy that they were better suited to fostering a teenager, or being active in groups for foster kids. It felt like his concerns were just blown off when those are real concerns a ton of people have about themselves.
I love how boyle tries to make jake not so worried about his possible death by telling that BLATANT lie that he would actually EVER get over jakes death.
The genius thing about it is that Rosa's character isn't affectionate in general yet somehow we can still tell how much Jake means to her and how much she respects him.
Brooklyn 99 may be a comedy but like scrubs it definitely knows how to hit on the emotional moments. Boyle getting shot, this entire episode, and multiple other moments are examples of that
I'd put Kaamelott up there with those. I mean we laugh for three seasons at a guy being the only sane man in a show full of idiots, and then we start to realize that he's been super depressed the whole time and is struggling to find a single meaningful accomplishment in his whole life.
We all know Rosa, she doesn't do hugs or emotions, but when she hugs you back, that means she really needed it and that she was scared for her life I can imagine :) I love her so much
This episode is just another amazing episode in the masterpiece that is Brooklyn 99, it perfectly captures how people, not just cops, react to their friend in a terrible situation like this, what’s better is that you can see Rosa still shaken by what happened, it’s subtle but there, which makes sense for her character, this was an amazing episode, one that we will never forget.

I've never been in a school shooting (yet) but I can only imagine the stress you're under when all your friends and classmates *aren't* right next to you the entire time. i mean y'all must be freaking out about each other like "holy shit I hope kate is okay. i really hope jackson isn't dead" like seriously, that shit must be beyond terrifying. and the relief you probably feel seeing them alive and the grief and ptsd you must go through after you heard someone was killed or watching someone bleed out after being shot. i have mad respect for all you survivors, stay strong.❤️
Gunman came into my HS campus my freshman year and I remember thinking of all that while we were barricaded in the classrooms for an hour. Thankfully the gunman just wanted (and got) a Suicide by cop but it was the most nerve wracking day of my life, and I can't imagine how the sole hostage felt.
Im so lucky that i go to a private school and security is very high there so i dont have to worry about that but it sucks that kids have to go though that

I love that the nurse, a single set single episode extra was still put in so well as to give a sense of life to the character. B99 really is on a different level.
This scene just hit different.. Like it's showed how real the line of duty is even though the show focused on the lighter side.. This show had it all ❤
1:42 honestly I've had a simaler thought. A show/movie/comic/whatever focused in a super hero world but the main character is a therapist for super hero's. Mainly so we can get a more humane side of hero's and such. Kinda lame but it could be a fun concept
The comic Heroes in Crisis tackled it Kinda. You get to see many heroes some most people know, others few people know. And you can get insight into them. The murde mystery main plot of the story is okay. But the best writing comes from the many flashbacks to the therapy.
I love how Boyle's voice tightens when talking to his mom. The agitation and the immediate movement of him standing upwards, the edge around him hoping that Rosa would be there. Then the resigned disappointment mixed in with annoyance that it wasn't the dispatch that Rosa's okay.
I love the friendship between Jake and Rosa, and even Jake and Gina. It's nice to see guy and girl characters be just friends without and romantic feelings for each other and how Jake could hang out with them without Amy being insecure about Jake's relationship with G&R.
There's nothing wrong that B99 can do. Whether it's showing LGBT tastefully and not making them only about their sexuality or holding that delicate balance between comedy and seriousness during a serious situation as this one, B99 does it all brilliantly. One of my fav shows, and Andy Samberg is defo one of my favs.
I lost count how many times I said during episodes: " This doesn't have to be this good." It could have just been funny and it was. But then it would hit times like this and really make the humor stand out even more.
I know it isn’t the same but there was this brandished gun incident at the store I worked at, a week after the El Paso Walmart shooting, like he tried to be a copycat on that or something. Working the registers, I didn’t know what was going on but a bunch of angry people. Three hours later, I found out. There are people there I was friends with for years that I would have lost and never known about it because of the lack of communication. If you had a walkie talkie, you’d at least know what was going on. I think the only thing I found on it was something like “the managers made sure everyone was out, employees included” like no, but alright. The managers asked the customers to either leave or checkout all at the same time immediately. In relation to this, time goes slow when it’s happening and even slower when you know that it’s happening. Idk if it’s slower when it’s someone else you cannot see in front of you. It is portrayed really well, trying to comfort each other without bringing it up, putting on a brave face in all the nervousness and uncertainty, and the wait. That silence not knowing someone’s okay is actually so loud and haunting. Even in a comedy, you see the coping mechanisms of trying to keep your cool, saying lighter things to keep your mind off. I don’t wish this for almost anyone ❤️
