This is the real deal. No drama, just good information. Slim has come a long way with his camera skills. I was professional photographer for 25 years back in the film days. He puts many people to shame with the quality. I love his use of early morning light and late afternoon lighting.
Slim, I subscribed a while back after watching the ammo can stove. So, I thought of you as a clever repurposer. Now I find out you're giving Nat. Geo. a run for their money in well filmed and narrated videos. You are a man of many talents . I find your videos entertaining, interesting, and informative. Keep 'em comming!!
You're in California, you go out exploring, you come back and your car, trailer and bike are still there??? Wonders never cease to amaze me! Beautiful desert scenery, Mr. Slim.
Mr. Potatohead, you are an artist, you put out some of the best landscape shots out there, truly beautiful, you know how to enjoy and appreciate nature in all its glory. Keep it up. I'll keep watching. 👏
Can't beat the sunrise or sunsets in the desert. I loved them when I lived out in Tucson and still have the memories of those wonderful days and nights. Thanks for allowing us to share on your adventures!
The Joshua tree at 17:53. That brilliant green against the black night sky is absolutely stunning. Greetings from Manitoba and thanks for sharing this marvelous video.
There's a stillness and peacefulness in your videos that let us (the viewers) actually experience nature from her tiniest creations to her most grand and spectacular. Thank you.
This video has it all: humor, beauty, history... love the quintet/kazoo comment, and the dust swirling in the light shafts, oh my... and of course your creativity expressed in so many ways. Thank you Slim!
I love the grandeur of the desert, especially when it's been it's been rained on and there's so many colors from the flowers and from the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. I was stationed at 29 Palms with the Marines and actually got to drive a generals wife and an ambassadors wife on a tour of the Joshua tree national monument. I was driving an olive drab 1974 Ford LTD and I was the duty driver for the day at the motor pool and was glad that I was, for once! I love the desert!
I remember many things from living in the Mojave as a child, you showed me things that I never saw before in this video, thanks for another outstanding tour.
Great scenery and photography! Thank you. We don’t know if we will ever get there so thanks for letting us experience the Mojave through your video. Judy and Guy
I am grateful to you. You take me to places I may never get to, make me feel tje beauty of it, the dangers, pleasantness and serenity. All the while, you educate and yes, even entertain. You are an excellent photographerb editor and copy writer. I have enjoyed many of your videos more than once. Thanks. You are appreciated.
Super video Slim. I was at the Sand Dunes NP last spring and yes, the sand an be brutal in the wind. Superb photography and story telling. Trolls, ghouls and ogres - and Potatoheads!
We really enjoyed this. I spent 18 years trucking from southern Alberta down through Baker. I always wondered what it was like off the beaten path around Baker. Thank you for showing us the beauty that I missed. Travel safe and keep the videos coming.
Very nice capture of those Black-throated Sparrows at 3:38! Who says the desert is drab, I think Black-throateds are the most attractive sparrows to be seen.
Wow! What a great video! I am following you since a couple of months now and you are great inspiration for me. Thanks to make us knowing you and sharing your person with us. Gaétan from Québec.
There are so many college kids wasting their money on degrees in cinematography and film studies. All they need to do is watch videos like yours and so many bushcraft TH-camrs. Well done, sir.
I was beginning to exhibit withdrawal symptoms I'm so addicted to your videos; it seems so long since your last video. Loved the music & your hat when you wandered around the cars @Devil's playground. Slim, consider wearing a think pair of gloves when out hiking, something to protect the palms & fingers of your hands if you trip & fall. I sincerely hope you will visit the nearby Bristlecone Pine Forest North of Bishop, CA. These Bristlecone Pines grow in only 2 places, the other is in the Great Basin National Forest in Eastern Nevada.
My husband and I enjoy every single video. They're all so informative and this one especially is filled with amazing color and photography. You're so talented you make it look easy, yet I know each shot takes much time figuring angles and camera placements etc. Thanks so much for the hard work it's greatly appreciated!
Great video; something special about this one; the quality, clarity, and richness of the colors are amazing. 'National Geographic' and 'Nature' film producers are probably watching your videos. Great content and narration.
Greetings Slim from the desert boondocking heaven SW of Yuma! I look forward to each of your incredible videos since I am following your journey in my little camper van. Thank you for the inspiration! I am currently up trail from a newfound friend’s campsite. Larry is a 66 year old solo traveler who has an Aframe trailer. He really struggles with setting up his roof so we’re building a “Slim Potatohead raise the roof cantilever” tool. Gracious amigo from Larry and me!
Hi Slim, leaving the political, doom and gloom you tubes and having one of your videos to watch is refreshing. I really enjoy the different sceneries that you provide. You have some very ingenious ideas too. Really enjoy the dessert south west pictures. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
As a Brit who has only so far visited the area outside Mesa AZ, the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley, your videos are showing me so many other places to visit next time. Thank you for being so informative. I fell in love with the deserts and can’t wait to get back again!
28cruzin well said. Agreed, Slim your photography details and views are getting better. It allows my family to enjoy places I might not be able to go with my hubby . We wait for your videos like a little kids.
Wow! Awesome video captures. All of it. I was most impressed with the sand dunes (thanks for bearing it so we could see it). The wrap up was beautiful night photography too! I lived on the Mojave for almost a year at Edwards AFB. Did a little exploring, like going out an easement road, stopping and turning lights off and calling coyotes with a varmit call. When you hear the nearby bushes rustling, turn on the lights a e surrounded! And going out on a dry lake bed at night is surreal like a moonscape. Hey, I’m glad I subscribed!
Videography was brilliantly clear and colourful, certainly glad I've got a big phone screen to see something I'm unlikely to visit. Hope to see more effects from your DIY camera slider too.
