    Yes, Cure Dolly is great for explaining Japanese grammar that most of Japanese text books and teachers do not. A great channel.

    It's so sad that the person behind Cure Dolly recently passed away. I love her videos and she seemed to genuinely care about helping others. She will be missed.

    I really love Satou's Japanese Playground. She explains japanese sentence structure so well and make it easy to understand, and she also plays cute games which helps me to learn as well with a more fun way.

    Also check out ikuchaneru(いくちやねる, i think that’s correct) she also breaks down Japanese songs in Japanese , I love her stuff and しらスタ. Reading and listening have increased listening to them because I’m already into Japanese music and I’ve made my own lyric videos offline too which helps me improve my listening

    That's a great list. Misa is the top of the food chain, but I think Matt vs Japan is right there. My go to right now is "Comprehensible Japanese" She draws on a white board to create visuals for immersion while speaking only in Japanese. Should really check it out

    BENJIRO CHANNEL Top learning Japanese

  • @paulwalther5237
    @paulwalther5237 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Who is this Benjiro guy? It looks like he interviews cute Japanese girls XD. I love Matt's videos. I actually like them for his really good English (while talking about Japanese) - even though I'm an native English speakers. I don't agree with everything he says either but at the same time I wasn't able to reach his level of Japanese so maybe he's right. Dogen's videos are good but pitch accent is so simple (although hard to master lol) that really all you need is a dictionary that actually shows the pitch accent so you can start double checking words on your own. I think I've seen Akane sensei in my TH-cam feed some (she was wearing glasses but in the videos you're showing she isn't... ugh.. is it her?). Any channels all in Japanese about Japanese are good in my book.

    • @GermaineJapanese
      @GermaineJapanese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really attribute the bulk of how my listening skills improved to Benjiro's channel. It was really hard to find simple but engaging Japanese content at the time, but his channel was perfect for that. He's the inspiration for me putting up my videos now for others, because I know how helpful it was for me learning from other people's conversations.

    i’d like to recommend 三本塾 (Sanbon Juku) for n3~ish learners. he does straightforward and simple to understand lessons, particularly on more challenging grammar.

    • @GermaineJapanese
      @GermaineJapanese  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, he’s got some pretty good videos! The greatest thing about reaching the N3 level is that you can comfortably start learning Japanese in Japanese

  • @Meck197
    @Meck197 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I knew most of the channels and would also recommend them but some were new so I'll check them out, thank you^^ I seem to have a similar approach to language learning so I will keep looking forward to your content as well!
    One channel that wasn't on your list that I also think is helpful is "Onomappu". He makes short videos in full Japanese with CC subs explaining vocabulary (focus on Onomatopoeia), grammar and telling short stories.

    • @GermaineJapanese
      @GermaineJapanese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I’ve just recently started watching his stuff as well! Love it! Thanks for following, I’m looking forward to hearing more of your recommendations in the future too!

    Just listening to various Japanese input in the background is not a good thing to do in my opinion.
    I think the brain shuts off like this if you don't consciously try to understand what is being said.
    I think playing many different things is just too much for the brain and it will ignore it for the most part.
    Maybe it would be a different story if you would listen to the same 10 minute clip for 30 hours, then switch to the next one, etc.

    • @matt-san7
      @matt-san7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will try to learn Japanese without bothering with grammar or the N levels at all just by consciously listening and learning new words.

    • @GermaineJapanese
      @GermaineJapanese  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the brain may pick up more than we realise. When I leave it playing in the background, I believe it that I’m subconsciously getting used to pitch patterns and sounds of the language even if I’m not actively studying the words or grammar. I would say it’s a different aspect of the language. Of course, no one will be fluent just from that alone, but I think it’s a good way to improve on the “naturalness” of the target language.
      Also, I want to clarify that even when it’s in the background, I pay attention to it every now and then, and in those moments I’m actively revising the language. My take is that if it doesn’t require that much extra effort and it gives you some returns, why not.
