Rafael Soriano for Horatio Ramirez...at the time of the trade I was so furious and frustrated I was almost ready to give up my fan card. I lived through all of these trades and MOST of them were terrible at the time and I was angry when they made them.
Spoljeric and timlin were part of the 92-93 world series champion blue jays so it sorta made sense, but in high sight, it didn't work, but the slocumb trade was the most dumbest trade by Woody Woodward. Luckily, he didn't trade Randy to the phillies in 93 for jim Eisenrich
As a 90s kid - the Jose Cruz trade felt right in the moment. It was the first time the team actually was in position to make moves at the deadline to improve the bullpen! A young player for two proven vets is a classic win now move and that made me like baseball more after understanding that. Timlin was a badass! As far as walk-up songs go - Haggerty and the Godfather needs to be mentioned. (I know that was 23)
Felt the same way dude. A lot of lists like these are in hindsight. I hated hated losing Cruz but was happy with the fact we tried to improve the awful bullpen because our offense was already amazing. Unfortunately the offense was stifled by the Orioles in the playoffs.
I'm probably the only person in the world who didn't hate the Bedard/Jones trade at the time, infact I was extremely happy. It sucked losing a nice prospect in Jones but I thought the Mariners were an Ace away at the time of going deep into the playoffs and I thought with the 1-2 punch of Bedard/Felix it could take them to that next level.
@@franklindcottrell Had 180+ innings in previous two seasons. Led the league in K's. Fifth in Cy Young. Adam Jones was setting records for strikeouts in Seattle. Someone fixed his swing in Baltimore.
The Geno trade last year should’ve definitely been an honorable mention: You salary dumped a GG caliber, club house leader, fan favorite, offensively productive 3B who LOVED playing here for two players who gave you nothing in 2023. Zavala was dogshit and Vargas is a flamethrower that can’t find the zone. On top of that, you don’t have a 3B NOW because of this trade and your replacements (Urias and Rojas) were non-tendered and terrible hitters. Meanwhile, the guy you thought was washed hit 28 HRs and 100+ RBIs
worst signing of all time. May be wrong but I remember hearing this. Jack Z's first signing was a reliever from Georgia that was drafted the year before but was holding out. Jack Z signed him a few days before the 1 year deadline that they had back then to sign draftee's. If he wouldn't have signed him, the Mariners would have gotten the pick back, but 1 pick later as per standard for not signing players. That would have given the Mariners the pick BEFORE the Angels drafted Mike Trout. Can't confirm but I think that's how I heard it. I hope I'm wrong.
I think it's funny that you guys don't remember Paul Spoljaric. I don't know why I remember him and Timlin so well. It might be because I really like Jose Cruz Jr. so much growing up and I was sad they traded him.
Honorable mention Mitch haniger with real mf G’s by easy E. But I understand it’s a family show and at the ballpark they only play the instrumental for obvious reasons
Ketel Marte,Walker trade for Segura, Mitch & Curtis set the M' s back into a death spiral bigtime.Segura was pure cancer & As much as I love Haniger, he's hurt so often that it set the franchise wayyy back. What trade set the franchise back the most???
Having varitek, Lowe and Cruz doesn’t mean they have the team in 2000-2001. Dynamics change. Ideologies change . With our ownership they don’t win anyways
A bill bavasi specialty 😅 gawd that guy was awful at his job. Erik Bedard also broke up Felix hernandez streak of being the Ms opening day starter. What a joke

Ahoy guys!! I know this was probably recorded before the draft lottery, but we got #3!!! Let’s go 😁💙💛
Holy sheit! we only had 0.5% for that lol

Agree. The guy was the best LH in the AL at the time.
He never had a fully healthy season. It was a massive overpay. It was also the fact that they chose to keep Brandon Morrow over Adam Jones.

Sad episode, but a fun presentation.
Yes, was wondering if you would bring up Cruz Jr. That one was awful.
Somebody didn't play enough Ken Griffey Jr. baseball on N64 because it's Paul 'Spole-jerick'
The name Heathcliff Slocumb will haunt me forever. And I remember being 11 yrs old legit crying at that Blue Jays trade. Thanks guys!
I loved Cruz and followed him in the minors. I hated that trade from Day 1.
Spoal (rhymes with the Col in Colby) - Jer (like Jerry) - Ick
Emphasis on the JER
If you're doing all time walk up songs for Mariners Bad to the Bone has got to be #1 and it's not even close.
Whatta Man should make the list too.

that 2001 team would win 130 games and you cant change my mind
Kevin Mitchell for half their pitching staff.
Calling it: Bedard for Jones, worst trade. I hate it more than the Varitek for Slocumb trade.

Too much recentcy bias. Didn't name our worst trade with Cleveland. Vizquel for Fermin and Jefferson.
I try not to give bad people too much airtime
FFF trade proposal:
Mariners receive: Royce Lewis
Twins recieve: Jared Sundstrom, Zach Deloach, Luis Suisbel
Can’t believe “More Energy” didn’t make it. It’s Dylan MOoRE!!! Get it?!?!? It’s funny!!!
I think it's funny that you guys don't remember Paul Spoljaric. I don't know why I remember him and Timlin so well. It might be because I really like Jose Cruz Jr. so much growing up and I was sad they traded him.
Well I (Ty) was literally 1 when Spoljaric was with the Mariners hahaha
did Colby mention Big papi trade?
Yes, under honorable mentions.
@@mikeobiwon WOW!!!! lol
Chris Taylor was really bad in some of those last chances he had with the Mariners. He also had zero power until 2017
Honorable mention Mitch haniger with real mf G’s by easy E. But I understand it’s a family show and at the ballpark they only play the instrumental for obvious reasons
Honestly, I didn't know he had that. Never heard it through the broadcast and didn't see it on the database I was looking at. That's dope, though.
Paul Spaul-Jerick

The biggest reason there are so many bad trades for the mariners is because the ownership never wants to sign free agents...
JP had a down year because he changed the walk up song
Omar Vizquel fer Felix Fermin stung the WORST!
Tino Martinez trade was awful. He went on to be elite.
Having varitek, Lowe and Cruz doesn’t mean they have the team in 2000-2001.

Hollins, NOT Hollis

Jonathan Clase for Yimi..... who's now a Blue Jay again. Giving clase away for absolutely free
Abraham Toro

Yeah, I was mad when they traded Moyer
