Do not worry too much. As we write a lot of album reviews, we really don't think too much about "landmines", because it's always just our own personal opinon. But I guess it's much harder to review own stuff. ;-) But your early demos are much better than a lot of music that we receiving everyday in our mailbox. You are talented! :-)
Your music got me through my 20s and I've loved everything about your music ever since I discovered you guys in 2010. Also, I really love "Christ" on Angora as it's slower. Don't know why. Cheers!
Happy 15 years! Loved the video from you both - it's so amazing hearing you both together again. "I'm not in quarantine, I'm in self-isolation. I do that basically every day anyway." LOL! So glad you're both being careful especially with our hearing Sweden is pursuing the so-called herd immunity model (seems very German from nearly a century ago... sigh). As soon as we all can travel again, we're going to fly over for a performance in Europe since it's probably sooner than we'll see you here in the states. Sending all the love and support from Jamie (your 50th birthday greetings fan from the prior year) and daughter Lily. Top American fans.
You are great guys! I love the fact that you laugh and are open to self criticism. I am happy to see Yaz back. A big fan from Chile! I hope to see you live someday
Thank you so much for doing this - it's wonderful to hear how much things have changed, and how much things have stayed the same, along with an insight into how you made the demo. Stay safe both.
Huge Seabound, Covenant and VNV Nation fan. I remember coming across Ashbury Heights while looking for some new music. First song I listened to was Hope from Take Cair Paramour and instantly loved it. Ever since then I’ve eagerly awaited each new release. I didn’t know you guys lost all the files for your older work.... maybe a new remake of Hope and Crescendo?
I really enjoyed listening to your conversation. I really hope that you will one day re-issue your rare demo tracks on cd. Please stay safe through this horrible virus crisis we are having.
Decent Cancer was the 1st Ashbury Heights song I heard on Electronic Saviours 2. Went out and bought Origins immediately. I still listen to it! 13:51 I love this because that's how I make music now. In the 00's I made "computer music" with a near infinite amount of stereo channels and hated it. Now I have a minimalist, completely hardware set-up of a Tascam DP-24sd, Toraiz SP-16, modular synth, Volca Keys, MS-20 mini, Behringer Deepmind 6, Voicelive Touch 2 and that's pretty much it. I wouldn't have it any other way. Raw & (mostly) Analog.
Excellent video featuring some of your best songs. Great background stories with funny honest criticism. World Coming Down, Remote, and Makeshift are my top choices. Heathen Crossing could probably sound better in a newly reconstructed form, and I have to send my appreciation for Mad as a great studio track. I hope to also hear the original versions of Christ and Corsair, the latter might be your most traditional type of love song. Thanks for all the high quality memorable lyrics and music 🎧 💙🍷
I always thought of mad like people don't understand me, yes, i am mad and that's a good thing: I am glad to be different! :) Wooo this version of Angora overdrive sounds quite different. I like it!!!
I would say, you get many suggestions for cover songs. One, I feel would suit your wide rang of talents is a song by The Weekend, Blinding Lights. Cheers.
I enjoyed your video very much and it made me laugh that you find your own lyrics from today's perspective a little bit cheesy. I perceive your music and lyrics as exceptionally well-written and it has been accompanying me through bad and good times. Angora Overdrive actually became the theme song for my first relationship. So I guess it qualifies as a proper love song :)
Hey! Thank you for the review and the most clarifying grades of the songs. Do you have any plans to review Three Cheers as well? : ) When VNV Nation released the album Noire, I thought that the beginning of the song "God of All" sounded familiar. Now I know why. The first 40 seconds sounds rather familiar to the beginning of "Remote" (not the beginning of the cut version in this video). It's slower and not as hard but if you listen to it at x1,25 speed it matches a bit better I think (I'm not known for having a musiköra though 😅). Cheers! th-cam.com/video/1O4bY4IkY6g/w-d-xo.html
I've always loved the song 'Decent Cancer', so I'm really pleased to hear you're still fond of it. :)
Excellent band.. Been a fan since 2009.. Greetings from US 👍👍

love you guys since the first cd. You have no idea how special your music is
I found that album online a few years ago. Amazing jewel. Love you guys! 🇲🇽

No doubt, one of the best albums ever made.

Any news on that compilation album you were planning on releasing back in january?

Hey guys! I love your music! Any legal way to get Angora Overdrive and Parliament Of Rooks in High Quality MP3 format or FLAC?
We don't have them available for the public at the moment but we could look into it of course :)
