So...I made this last night with the added corn starch and baking powder, and the crispiness was PHENOMENAL. Ninja should add that mixture in their recipe book or give this young lady credit for such an amazing combination. 20 minutes is enough to cook the chicken thighs through completely. Next up...lemon pepper wings with the corn starch/powder mix.

Years ago, some nice person gave me a fry-baby, it's still unused in the box. I didn't want to deal with the huge mess and waste all that oil. Same for a Foreman grill. ...unused.
I used to fry chicken in cast iron, but the flour, egg and grease was still a big freaking mess to clean up, so I hadn't made fried chicken for a long time as a result.
Now I do everything imaginable in the air fryer. Amazingly easy, and clean-up is nominal.

Easy clean-up tip for all you air-fryer "Tubers":
When cooking breaded foods or seasoned chicken, line the lower pan with tin foil. Line the basket with foil too, poke some holes in it with a toothpick. Just make sure there's food sitting on the foil or the fan will blow it around.
You can capture and reuse the fat for other projects like soups and gravies. It's way better for you than vegetable oil. The "cracklins" from the basket foil makes for good gravy too.

@@sweetsavant at a pub in Toronto Ontario Canada. It’s a version of the famous NY Buffalo wings with extra butter. Wings are deep fried, sauced then grilled. I thought the Ninja Grill would be prefect to adapt the recipe to make the wings without deep frying. A combination of your basic recipe for crispy wings, then sauce them. NY Buffalo butter, then grill them for short time to add grill marks, dry the sauce without creating smoke. Good luck. I await your creation.

    Dear Sweet Savant
I made your thighs exactly and they were juicy as always, but definitely not crunchy like yours!
Mine were not air chilled, not sure if this made a difference, I let them sit uncovered for 6 hours,
I’ve been cooking for 55 years, wondering if 360 AC was hot enough to start.
Did not sizzle when they hit the pan, maybe not hot enough?

    • @sweetsavant

Hi Jack. I'm skeptical about a lot of things but I do see a difference between air chilled chicken and the general grocery store brands. The water content and soggy skin is evident. I don't always buy air chilled chicken but if my budget allows ill pick it up. It really does result in crisper skin on air fried chicken.
      Thanks for watching

I tried it with normal not air chilled chicken. I removed the chicken from the package cleaned it up then laid the thighs on a double thickness of paper towels then covered them with paper towels pressed down to make contact and refrigerated them unti it was time to season and cook them. Awesome crispy skin.
