Hi History Guy! First of all, LOVE your channel! My father was a history major and many of these videos you produce remind me of stories my father would tell my brother and myself about history. He used to say something similar to what you say in every video, "This story of history deserves to be remembered. For you can't move forward until you know where you've already been!". Great stuff Mr. History Guy! My question for you is this. I noticed at the end of this video a VERY attractive young lady with purple hair that matched your bowties, wishing us a VERY happy Valentine's Day. Is this your main squeeze? Maybe someday you can lay to rest all of the questions surrounding the 10/1/17 Las Vegas massacre. When the official story proved to be full of holes within hours of the event, I said that forensic ballistics would easily prove if there was more than one shooter if all bullets recovered from the dead, wounded, and concert venue did not match cartridge cases and firearms in Stephen Paddock's room in the Mandalay Bay Casino. I also publicly stated that if the ballistics evidence was not made available to journalists and researchers within a reasonable length of time, we were seeing a coverup. Claiming an "ongoing investigation" wouldn't work to keep ballistic evidence a secret because, according to the official story, the lone shooter was dead and there would be no trial. We have not seen this evidence as of 2/12/19, therefore there has been a coverup.
I've seen a copy of the Chicago police report with the "survivor's" last words to the police: 'FU'. There was no love between the mob and the cops that, or most, days.
Gusenberg's last words are a matter of speculation, but it is certain that he didn't reveal any names. I find Dean O'Banion's last words well illustrate how the mobsters saw the police. When asked who shot him, he replied "My mudder did it."

@J0e Biden I didn't say anything about regulation. I'm a collector so as a collector I don't want regulation but it really sucks just what people do being with firearms, cars, tools, etc.
According to both my Father and my Aunt, my family has a weird connection to the St. Valentines Day Massacre. That connection? A hat. Shortly after the event, their father was questioned by police about his possible involvement. One of the murdered men was found with a hat which had my Grandfather's name and address written on a label on the inside. When the police visited him, he retrieved his hat and discovered it was not actually his. The theory is they must have placed their hats on the same hat rack at the pool hall my Grandfather worked at, and the man grabbed the wrong hat when leaving. Since they were the same size and style, neither man noticed they had the wrong hat. My Grandfather was able to show he wasn't in Chicago at the time, but they still wanted to know what he knew about the man. Like the good Italian he was, he insisted he didn't know the man. This all took place long before my Dad or his sister were born, but they had both been told the same story by multiple older family members over the years. There's no way to know for sure if it really happened, but it is a fun story.
@ A P - Seems like an extremely plausible story to me, and I bet that it did happen. Thanks for sharing with us your family's connection to the historic event!
The Northern Illinois Crime Lab is still in operation. I was interviewed as a character reference when they hired a new administrator. This lab was able to solve the Brown's Fried Chicken murders because they preserved chicken half eaten by the killers for years until DNA science became a reality.
Thank you History Guy! This has quickly become my favorite channel on TH-cam. I was wondering if you would consider making a video about the hurricane of 1938. Thanks again!
"A massacre-free Valentine's Day" is what I'm shooting for. ;) Thanks, Ms. History Guy!! That's quite the hair color! My college French professor who was purple-obsessed would have been green with envy.
My grandfather lived in Chicago in 1929, his father walked him and his 2 brothers to this very place where he got to put his fingers in the bullet holes in the wall. I was told this quite often as a child, not knowing or caring much about the incident. But come to find out all of his remaining family confirmed his story. I look forward to taking my children to this Las Vegas museum and showing then this wall.
Someone who wears, pardon the term, "thick rimmed glasses", and a bow tie, is often considered, or called "straight laced". While this is often considered a derisive label, really it's not. It simply means that a person so attired is, usually, not someone who strays far from the conservative, "prim and proper". That is why I have to smile when I look at The History Gal, beloved wife of our bow tie wearing History Guy, and her purple hair. Nothing wrong with it. It is just one more of the unique aspects about our informative duo. As always, good to see you again History Gal. + /

I loved reading about all of these stories as a kid growing up. Born in 57, these stories fascinated me, I remember thinking I'd grow up to be a Gman lol. Thanks for another great video!
I think one of the things missed by this video was this massacre caused the National Firearms Act to be created in 1934. This was truely the first National Gun control act made by Congress.
I remember that right after WWII you could go to a surplus store downtown and for just $100.00, if you had it, could buy a 20mm antitank rifle and carry it home on the streetcar without anyone raising an eyebrow. Bolt action battle rifles were going for $20.00. Kids could safely play on the streets till all hours, and my friends and I were safe riding our bikes from the South side all the way to Indiana Dunes State Park in the summer. I could carry my .22 rifle out to a piece of unused land between some elevated train tracks and plink away without interference. So stupid of liberals to try to convince themselves and others that they want less violence. It's about control.
You're deluded if you think it can't happen now because of gun restrictions. One of the biggest reasons that crime is so bad in Chicago is because of gun restrictions.

Yet another excellent video. Thank you. Be well.
I always watch the History Guy. He's a straight shooter.
As is often the case with your videos there is a goldmine of extra info in addition to the stated subject. Good job!
I also have a fascination with firearms. Historically interested some of them and the modern ones show progress with technology. It's a shame some people do misuse firearms.
@J0e Biden I didn't say anything about regulation. I'm a collector so as a collector I don't want regulation but it really sucks just what people do being with firearms, cars, tools, etc.
This format is incredibly simple for you because of study and intellectual prowess....thanks to you.
Bravo Dr. Goddard, and to the History guy for keeping us interested in obscure history...thank you sir.
Dr. Goddard's evidence did clear the police of any complicity.
Well, it cleared their tommy guns of any complicity. More than that...?
@jec1ny - I agree with your conclusion. Anyone who couldn't find a Thompson in Chicagoland at the time wasn't looking.
What makes you think police going to commit mass murder would use their service weapon
Thanks another good one! All the best to you two as well.
The Northern Illinois Crime Lab is still in operation. I was interviewed as a character reference when they hired a new administrator. This lab was able to solve the Brown's Fried Chicken murders because they preserved chicken half eaten by the killers for years until DNA science became a reality.
The History Guy needs to see this
I just wikipedia’d that. Amazing! I’m gonna go on & read the entire Wikipedia page now.
@JohnP538 - That is astounding!
WOW! I didn't even know it was solved. I, too, am going to read up on it.....Thanks!
JohnP538
so the DNA evidence led them to the arrest of the chicken?
Absolutely fascinating segment. Love this channel!
Have you considered the 1946 Battle of Athens(TN)? It would make a great video, THG.
As always, good to see you again History Gal.

james crowe Nonetheless, we all stereotype all the time, we have evolved to do so and for very good reason: survival. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, you can't complain when it's considered a duck.
@james crowe please expand your life experience.
@james crowe yes they are already dead. But they taught me how to deal with idiots like you when I was a child.Your simplistic arguement is laughable.Keep striving douche.
douches. Spank your pussy ass.
Great channel. Seem to be good people. But I got a franklin says they are a couple of freaks in the sheets.😳😂
Excellent video History guy! I love the ending with you and your wife wishing everyone a massacre free Valentines Day! I married my wife on Valentines Day! Luckily, she is still happy with me!
I loved reading about all of these stories as a kid growing up. Born in 57, these stories fascinated me, I remember thinking I'd grow up to be a Gman lol. Thanks for another great video!
Judging by the news, the massacre in Chicago never ends.
The Mob Museum is worth a visit.
I think one of the things missed by this video was this massacre caused the National Firearms Act to be created in 1934. This was truely the first National Gun control act made by Congress.
Daddy Tsette The first major infringement upon America's second amendment rights.
All Democratic Congress and White House. No surprise here
IMHO, this is one of the best channels on TH-cam.
Gruesome times for many. Have a healthy Valentine's Day.👍
Your videos are always such a fun, educational ride! Thanks HG!
I guess it's good they have all those gun restrictions in Chicago today. That could never happen now!
Not at 2am in the middle of winter....unless you get paid.
Thanks to gun restrictions, Chicago is one of the safest cities in the nation with a proud record of zero gun deaths. 😁 yes I am being sarcastic...
Anonymous Libertarian I’m quite sure you’re not. As I’m quite sure that no gun died in Chicago in the last 30, 40 years.
Thank you Sir.
Mrs. History Guy sure loves the hair dye!
It's always a surprise to see what color she's wearing!
True story. it always surprises me too!
@@TheHistoryGuyChannel My daughter's hair was that color for a while, then pink, but she had to stop because her grandmother couldn't afford to keep getting it dyed so often!
I find purple hair on a lady to be very pretty. You have a lovely lady there History Guy. Enjoyed your video and the two of you have a happy Valentine's Day.
You wouldn’t miss her in a crowd. 😊
i actually enjoy youre programs, very interesting stuff, but...i have noticed you like to bash the usa on occasion. and while you are accurate in what you say and subtle with the criticism it is a pattern that cant be missed. @@TheHistoryGuyChannel
Love your channel
*The dog's name was "Highball".* He was the family dog of the mechanic. After the shooting, the dog acted very erratic, and was shot by the cops. *"Highball lost his life, because of the massacre. He was a victim of the massacre. "Highball's own story is, **_"History, that deserves to be remembered"._*
@ A Florida Son - Poor "Highball"! :-(
Ah man, here I was thinking the dog made it through alright. That’s does make it a bad day after all.
I like what you tried to do there, but it's just a dog. We've gotten a bit crazy in this nuclear arms race of who can claim to care the most and spend more money on their pet. Instead of getting a new Cayenne GTS to replace the last one she got new, my girlfriend decided to take a dog off the street for her 50th birthday... That's how much she thinks it cost to properly care for a dog. Don't think it's not lost on me. We've lost our minds.
Thx History Guy :) and, thank History Girl there too :)
Al Capone was the only person who truly knew how to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day.
Well, he did say, "You can accomplish more with a kind word and a gun than with a kind word alone," right?
once again, great work history guy!!
Good job, you hit all the bullet points.
@ Allen Atkins - You hit the mark with that pun!
You are so concise and in depth about this subject that you made it interesting and informative to listen to and view ; keep up the good work.
A piece of the action
maps., wasn't that the title of an episode of the original Star Trek TV show? Liked your comment
Definitely one of the best channels on TH-cam... always interesting, informative, and entertaining! What more could you ask? Thanks, History Guy!
