This guy is in shape, with a fit upper body. It helps quite a bit to strengthen the parts of the body that still work, to help move the parts that no longer work...

Smooth stuff, waiting on my lightweight wheelchair so I can do this myself too!

When transferring like this, which arm is doing the heavy lifting? The seat hand or the roof hand? Is it about hand dominance or is it the same when transferring on the passenger side?

The hand on the roof is doing most of the work

      Haha
I usually have it in my EDC bag ready to go

I just realized I misread your comment. I just put the belt straps off the the side

@@WheelchairDNA I should’ve asked you if you tuck it behind the back rest,
I have the same frame as you, but I have just the regular backrest that folds down. I generally keep my seatbelt tucked behind the flap, and I have it secured in place with the little green Velcro straps that came with my hand controls

@@WheelchairDNA Last week I was showing my scout troop how to go down a set of stairs in a wheelchair:
I have to physically get out of the chair, take off the Velcro, put it back around the front, then transfer in, then put it on.

@@WheelchairDNA they thought it was the coolest thing, but they grew impatient because of the time it took for me to get the seatbelt ready.
I was 25 when I started using a wheelchair. I did my rehab at Walter Reed, so everybody was very young. Walter Reed was sort of like being in college but everybody is either using a wheelchair or missing an appendage. Naturally, social clicks formed, and there was one particular group who did not use brakes or seatbelts. They were very much into WC MX, and they use Walter Reed as their own personal skate park.
The occupational therapist and the physical therapist are very strict about wearing seatbelts during official sessions, so we all sort of rebelled the rest of the time.
I think at one point there was a memo that went out that breaks were mandatory on wheelchairs on post (campus)
