Thank you for such a lovely comment. Here is something I did the first time I came to Slo (th-cam.com/video/WvDTxSZpo98/w-d-xo.html) - hopefully I can come back soon. Lep pozdrav iz Avstraljie!
Hi Phillip. Very nice playing. I've been seeing your videos for a number of years now. I know you play for yourself and by that I mean know one is making you practice and learn new songs. You have a love for the music and I think that shows in your talent. I wanted to say "thank you", as there are not that many people in the USA/Canada that are learning the accordion and the traditional European songs/style of music. I know there is a resurgence in Europe, but not in North America. Over the years, I had many older accordion players come up to me and say this to me, so now I say it to you. Thank you and the best to you and your family during the Holiday Season.
Hi Mark. Thank you for watching my videos over the years and for your lovely comment. It means a lot to me. Perhaps interest might slowly grow in our English speaking countries like US/Canada/Australia, over a longer period of time (check out what's happening in Japan for example). There is not much of the authentic stuff played where I live in Australia either. Unfortunately accordionists who perform at German/Austrian themed events such as Oktoberfests are in a bit of a time warp and play very cliche, low energy and stereotypical stuff, and haven't caught up on the evolution of this music over the last 50 or so years, and the terrific songs that have become popular and a staple of anyone's reportiore in the Alpine music genre within Europe. In US, Australia etc, they stick to the overplayed Beer Barrel Polka and Clarinet Polka (I'm personally tired of those and they are not really the sought after songs in Europe any more) and have never heard of Na Golici, Auf der autobahn, Dem land tirol die treue, Timple boarischer, and so on. Thank you again for your lovely comment of support and I hope you come back soon. Phill
This gave me goosebumps! Your expression, interpretation and style of playing is so beautiful- like the accordion is linked to your heart ❤️ Thank you my friend!
Wow, thank you. That means a lot to me. I try my best to put my heart into my playing, as much as possible. Perhaps so much so that I forget how to even remotely smile(?).
