I just purchased Two Years Before the Mast not knowing about Heritage Press, but I thought it was a beautiful book and I had been looking for that title. Thanks for the video, I'll be looking for more!!
Thank you!! I’m a graphic designer, so it’s fantastic to see the amount of detail that was included in the book, and cheers for highlighting the joy and difference a font can make to the reading experience. I don’t have access to these here, but it’s always great to see books include things like this. Ps love the little lit up diorama on your bookshelf! Perhaps a bookshelf tour at some point? 😉
I have tons of respect for graphic designers! They make a huge difference. Heritage Press really cared about the details of bookmaking. The diorama was a Christmas gift. Took me longer than I'd like to admit to glue the darn thing together! It was fun time, well spent, and I love the look of it. I have to figure out the best way to do the bookshelf tour. Probably a multi part series!
@@greatbooksbigideas haha! Yes I’ve done a few kits like that, good fun! btw were the illustrations done by linocut? They have that kind of quality to them, wonder if it mentioned that in the insert?
Wonderful overview of a quality made real book.
Awesome books and really informative video.
Thanks for watching!

I haven't read that one. There are plenty of Heritage Press's out there in the wild. I'm always keeping an eye out for them.
I have some heritage press editions, they're all really nice
Yes, if you can find one in good condition, they're a great value.

It doesn't mention linocut. All it says is he did 39 wood engravings. There's a Reynolds Stone wikipedia page that says he was self-taught.
@@greatbooksbigideas ah, wood, yes they give a similar look to linocut. Thanks for indulging me! ☺️
