This one of the first Christian Rap songs I jammed back in 2008. There's alot of great Christian Rap now, even back then, it just wasn't as popular/promoted as it is now. Lecrae and Flame broke alot of ground for more artists to get exposure. I know afew that I feel should be more famous than they are, but maybe because of the lack of marketing/promotion they aren't known to the masses/mainstream. Artists like Von Won and Tre9 for example. But as time goes on, with cross pollination of different artist features, I'm sure people will eventually find Von Won, he did have a song with Lecrae on Church Clothes mixtape called Welcome To HTown, but for some reason I guess people didn't think to acknowledge him or check him out beyond that one song to see the rest of his albums.
I loved Lecrae then and I love him even more now... he truly embodies what a prophet of God is all about. He loves people, invades culture, Preaches Christ, is mindful of racial reconciliation and uses his giftings in excellence to the Most High Keep going big bro... keep going :)

Why would flame be trying to get negative publicity for a song that is 6 years old? Katy Perry's audience is not the type of fan he is trying to attract. -The beats are similar if you go to about 20 seconds into each song and play them you will notice it. Also just because a few quick effects are added doesn't clear them of copyright infringement. Lawyers and experts clearly told them they had the rights to sue before the would go ahead and risk losing this.
I'm not a Katy Perry or Flame fan. However, I have followed these cases and read some of the judgements. A judge recently determined that even though a jury agreed the songs sounded similar, the 8-note sequence in question did not meet the burden to be covered by copyright. It literally doesn't matter if they sound similar because it's basically 8 quarter notes in a common descending minor scale with some notes repeated. You can't copyright scales or common chord progressions. They're the basic building blocks of music. And this is too small and common in origin to meet the standards of uniqueness to warrant protection. If something like this can be copyrighted, music would die.

Katy Perry won yet again in a copyright infringement case over "Dark Horse". The three judges ruled that the authors of the hip-hop song "Joyful Noise" had not provided sufficient evidence against Katy Perry's music.
That's a relief. The world would feel a bit too ridiculous if they could claim her song ripped off this one which sounds nothing like it and win that copywrite claim. Maybe a 5 percent similarity I don't know the right music words to describe, but the melody and lyrics have very clearly not been stolen. It's ironic that the musician I'm listening to sing about God and his faith right now is also trying to be a scammer. There's no way those guys genuinely believe their song was ripped.

Before you comment, take a second to read this:
-To all Christians and flame supporters, be respectful and take the high road, katy perry fans are going to be looking to be Internet tough guys.
-To people who say this way for publicity. Why would flame be trying to get negative publicity for a song that is 6 years old? Katy Perry's audience is not the type of fan he is trying to attract.
-The beats are similar if you go to about 20 seconds into each song and play them you will notice it. Also just because a few quick effects are added doesn't clear them of copyright infringement. Lawyers and experts clearly told them they had the rights to sue before the would go ahead and risk losing this.
I'm not a Katy Perry or Flame fan. However, I have followed these cases and read some of the judgements. A judge recently determined that even though a jury agreed the songs sounded similar, the 8-note sequence in question did not meet the burden to be covered by copyright. It literally doesn't matter if they sound similar because it's basically 8 quarter notes in a common descending minor scale with some notes repeated. You can't copyright scales or common chord progressions. They're the basic building blocks of music. And this is too small and common in origin to meet the standards of uniqueness to warrant protection. If something like this can be copyrighted, music would die.

Katy Perry won yet again in a copyright infringement case over "Dark Horse".
The three judges ruled that the authors of the hip-hop song "Joyful Noise" had not provided sufficient evidence against Katy Perry's music.
That's a relief. The world would feel a bit too ridiculous if they could claim her song ripped off this one which sounds nothing like it and win that copywrite claim. Maybe a 5 percent similarity I don't know the right music words to describe, but the melody and lyrics have very clearly not been stolen.
It's ironic that the musician I'm listening to sing about God and his faith right now is also trying to be a scammer. There's no way those guys genuinely believe their song was ripped.

It was proved stolen in a court of law, but your right, with enough money it seems they stole it back again with an our side had the most money court appeal, but that doesn't make it right. I am just being fair, they did it first, and they did it better. You have to choose not to hear it's a rip off. Didn't you ever think the song Dark Horse sounded unique? You know with all the elements of this song that came first? Or are you saying Katy did a basic song? Or are you picking favorites and not seeking the truth when it comes to being copied?
If she or others with her do feel it's stolen they will have to pay a higher court than the ones it's been through, if you know what I mean. You can't rip off those preaching about light and selflessness and steal it to preach about dark and being an only evil manipulative goddess instead. I can't even believe how much better THIS song is. Who knows, maybe someday Katy will be able to do a cover of it. I with both sides well. These songs have many people working on them, not just Katy, so I am not saying Katy meant to steal it, if it was stolen, the truth is the truth and some people know what it is even if we can't come to agreement even after it's gone to court. Katy used to be a Christian singer, but she couldn't make it till she started singing songs like, "I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It" and her song, "You're so gay." Honestly, I don't think she could make it because she was double minded, a foot in both worlds not sure what to do or how to do it. But I know one thing, don't do what's wrong, if she did, Christian or not, can we agree you repent, say sorry, and right the wrong?
@@SRose-vp6ew I did say the lyrics and melody didn't I? That's a lot of tangent for a mere part of what I said. Read my comment instead of telling me to listen to the song again. It sucked and I don't want to. And besides, I already covered a bit of what you talked about during the only listen and comparison I intend to do so I'd rather forget this one exists. And while I said they sounded nothing alike I also went on to say there was a tiny similarity which I didn't think was enough to call the other stolen. I was exaggerating to express just how different I thought the songs were. Certainly not enough to say they aren't just similar-sounding music at times.

@@IronDruidsso if you strip the song down layer by layer to its initial floor carrying beat the keys playing the initial melody that dark horse plays at the first intro of the song before it begins that carries THROUGH out the entire song was what was stolen it's the meat and potatoes of the song it's what makes the song it's the make up of the song which was proven to be stolen but they had more money to afford a better defense team just like o. J Simpson getting off for murder because he had the money to afford a great defense team so that doesn't make it right not does the facts change that it was stolen material this has happened for generations and generations.
