MGE is a community gamemode found on plenty of servers where you can do a series of duels with someone to test or improve your combat skills

@ShroomTube I don't know man, I tried a lot of servers and I had a blast. They didn't laugh at me for being bad at the game, they didn't leave me because I was stupid etc.
In fact, what I like about TF2 is that no matter how much of a tryhard, competitive player, cheater you are, you still die.
The zoom by Tim Allen is a reference to another video by soundsmith called spy weapon stereotypes where when he did the big earner, Tim Allen had to do with it.

13:20 For a bit of insight from a viewer, that's on the nose. While it is interesting to see an expert in a field explain why something was done accurately in a game/movie/show, it is also interesting to see an expert react to and break down something ridiculous that descends from the field. Like, it's fun to watch a fighter pilot react to the absurdity of Project Wingman, or a certain keeper of firearms and artillery for the royal armory museum react to weird video game guns, like TF2.
Poor Jonathan, the TF2 video was hard for him but the one about COD vanguard absolutely broke the man.

The reference of "Zoom like Tim Allen" is a reference to a "TF2 Stereotypes" series that Soundsmith made, where he discusses about the different stereotypes in hats, misc cosmetics and weapons for all classes in their respective videos. For specifics, it's calling to a clip in the Spy Weapon Stereotypes involving a stereotype for the Big Earner.

For context, one of soundsmiths friends (I think it’s KJ) was talking about having a dream where he broke a kids toy, and then had to go into a drug compound to get another toy. The leader of the compound was Tim Allen. Quote from the video itself, “Tim Allen was a fucking Neanderthal drug dealer who spoke in grunts”
The Tim Allen joke is from the spy weapon stereotype soundsmith made and one of his friends had a big earner called zoomed by Tim Allen after having a dream about them

I die every second at spy so yeah the 25 health penalty for me is nothing, and the speed buff is SOO FUN to use, so yeah is my go to knife too.
The reason people want to see things other than you just breaking down military things is because you give a new perspective on so many things and even give advice and knowledge on a lot of real life topics, not to mention the fact that your reactions to things are often really fun.
Soundsmith is an audio engineer, he intentionally adds a muffled effect to the audio to create immersion in the environment. He's not actually bantering with his editor in a recording studio.
Tf2 is 14 years old .. and this game is still alive !

I've got 300 hours in SFM, compared to others i'm a complete newbie. but with a few tutorials and pain. it isn't that hard, just very long and grueling.

although, looking at the sidebar, the tf2 videos are somewhat average, save for a handful.
Also, I'm sorry if this seems rude. The TF2 content area has a long history of trapping people into TF2 content, and whenever I see someone get into TF2 content, I personally genuinely worry about content creators not enjoying TF2 and the info around it.
Regardless, it's been really nice seeing your videos! You're one of the only two reaction youtubers I've ever enjoyed, and frankly you're the higher quality of the two by a fairly large amount, with the info provided being a really interesting outlier among the usual lazy reaction content. Hell, sometimes I find myself rewatching the portions where you just give info, because it's genuinely interesting to just hear you talk about things in so much detail so casually.
Soundsmith is a Master at sound design. The idea behind manns guide is two complete idiots running a show with a high budget. Those are Soundsmith’s words, not mine.
Can't emphasize your statement enough about the old fun gaming days. We would play D&D (2nd edition of course) for hours during sleepovers and then play Goldeneye on N64 until we passed out from too much pizza.
Resident Evil 4 was my entire childhood. Those classic pizza party gaming marathons.

There's this one TH-camr/ streamer called Vargskelethor Joel (or just Vinesauce Joel) that made a whole over 20 minute film on 3d movie maker with custom models and it's just hilarious. He found 3D movie maker from doing one of his windows shareware streams. The film itself is called the Blue Shell Incident
I love this guy because his commentary almost always has nothing to do with what he's watching and usually forces me to learn something.

For me a big part of why i Like watching you just comes down to you being a pretty chill dude you respect the creators (partialy) respect timing and the information you put in is usualy quite nicely packaged easy to understand basicaly on a level as if i am talking to somebody that knows what he is talking about but other then that is just some friend or the like and not just repetetive or hyped up etc

The reason the audio sounds so well done is because the original reason he started his channel was to work on music and sound projects. He's actually really well versed in audio mixing and editing.

You should check out "Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45", this game, or more of a mod, is very realistic and game mechanics are very demanding with it's war tactics.

Edit: TF2 started as a hobby for Soundsmith as he was going to college for and his passion is being a sound engineer, hence his name.
He’s literally a sound smith.
Which is why his audibles have almost always been on point.
His big suggestion for newer people to get a good isolation for voice overs is to record under a heavy blanket.

Source Film Maker is hell to work with.
The thing about butterknives is kinda funny. The Ambassador revolver crits an enemy if it headshots. It actually puts them in the range of a melee hit, so you can headshot them, poke them, then run off with the speed boost.
It's actually nice hearing that you like reviewing this stuff and aren't doing it because it gets views, also listening to you explain tactical stuff after watching a spy die is really nice and I enjoy it.
MGE is essentially a player made plug in allowing 1v1 fights to improve with aim on custom servers.

MGE means My Gaming Edge
it is a custom game mode where tf2 players can choose their matchup going againts their opponents on a selected map for a 1v1 situation, selecting different class while the 1v1 is active will give your opponent 1 points, the first to reach 20 points wins the round, there are about 20 corners in a single map one of them being
cp_badlands middle
cp_proccess middle
and
cp_snakewater
there is also custom gamemode in the map, you are forced to use soldier and use the rocket jump mechanical to grab the intelligence and put it on your hoop, kinda like basketball, rockets do no damage but deals knockback
and there is also airshot MGE
MGE is a 1v1 gamemode where you fight other players on various maps.

Funny story on TF2 servers going weird, Me and my friend were on CTF Well, and we were both playing Engineer and managed to turn our entire team into Engineers and trapped the enemy team in their own base. Just one of many shenanigans me and my friends get up to.
if your wondering about Soundsmith's comment about manipulating the market its a reference to his Misc stereotypes on soldier where he highly praised the cosmetic called the Lone Survivor and because of that it nearly tripled in price on the steam market

The Joke about Tim Allen and zoom is that he was in a terrible old superhero movie called zoom. The main character his main ability was being able to move fast hence the name zoom

So a bit of background on Mann's Guide, this series, in it's universe, is run by character versions of SoundSmith and Clockwerk Smurf, where they're show runners with no real idea how to run it. In the Beggar's video, the two characters ended up arguing about the weapon, with character SoundSmith complaining about the Beggar's and Clockwerk wanting SoundSmith to talk about it (the irl SoundSmith loves the overloading mechanic and all the movement about it, only dislikes the rng)
