Nothing says casual friendly like staring blankly at a manual group finder interface for thirty minutes clicking a refresh button

I dunno I might not fully understand it but i thought the issue with auto group finder was the lack of social interaction and isn’t this new system the same thing just more toxic because now you have to just sit and manually wait and refresh to try and find a team that will take you I just still feel like the social aspect will be the same as auto finding

@@2ballisticgaming846 yeah manual group finder just means people can more readily pick over players like market produce, meaning if you are not up to _their_ standards, good luck finding a group. At least with auto grouping you had a better chance to get a dungeon since the only requirement was having the gear to queue up. I find it hilarious when people use excuses like "make your own group" when in reality making your group is just as stupid as the manual group finder, people will just not join your group if they think you are not up to snuff. At the end of the day is social fallacy that if there was no auto queue system people would be more social is about false as people saying if LFR didnt exist suddenly everyone would be raiding normals when in reality they would just not raid. good luck finding dungeon groups, its one step above spamming LFG in trade chat and anyone who thinks that was a load of fun is delusional.

@@2ballisticgaming846 You’re right. There isnt more social interactions now than with lfd. Its just less convenient and you have to walk there. People just wanna pretend like they have a lot of fun saying « hi how are you ? » while on their mount to the dungeon 😅

The thing is that classic is pointed to players that plays wow before, not to new players.
So rDF had to be implemented if they want to keep it alive.
Wotlk classic players will be 25+ yo players that are not teenagers anymore and have families and not a lot of time to play, so only time for casual gaming,

    Short answer: yes.
Would it be more casual friendly with RDF? Yes. Though I don't mind if they leave it out for a while - but really for the Classic experience it should come out in a later patch just like it did originally.
Now are the raids casual friendly? Nope. Sure, Naxx is easy - but long. Otherwise its really quite challenging (and also long) with the most pugs back in the day would do is VoA and the first three bosses in ICC (or ideally, just Lootship if someone had a lockout saved).
Eventually you will run out of casual content to do, but if you only play a few hours a week then that's not going to be a problem. Its just if you're a no-life casual it becomes a problem - that's when you should probably either play other games as well (to space it out) or pull up your socks and take a jump into raiding with a guild.
Or, you know, just PvP. PvP in Wrath was pretty darn good.

I hate to rain on people's parade, but the truth is, without a solid group of friends or a guild, you will find it really hard to get into heroics.
Back in original Wrath, I had leveled up an alt just before the random dungeon finder was implemented, and went into that character's first Heroic with the best gear you could get pre-heroic, including crafted epics. Upon arriving at the dungeon entrance, the group leader inspected my gear and kicked me immediately because my gear was "too weak for heroics". This happened repeatedly to me, and if not for my guild-mates running me through heroics, I would have been forced to abandon my alt due to a lack of content I was "allowed" to do.

This is pretty much how i have lived my wow life after i quit raiding some time in WOD and i love it so much. I think casual term has been distorted over the years , I dont raid ( out side of a few lfrs once in a while ) or run keystones , but i do put 40 plus hours a week into the game and have enjoyment my was.
When classic came out i treated it and TBC as sort of my 2nd MMO from wow and had a blast on Bloodsail Buccaneers ( US /RP) since night 1 the very minute we could log into the game just by leveling a few toons across the world and interacting with the peeps there in. I got the few goals i set like getting the Frostsable mount and grind out enough gold for flying.
My plans for Wrath were to grind up the polar bear mount , the Proto Drake mount from Mulocs in Sholuzar Basin , get the fishing pole from the Tuskars, Wintergrasp pvp and try and get one of the spirit beasts pets for my hunter .
I do remember ICC being very pug friendly so i will prob do some here and there and some how i am in a big time raid guild right now so i think they will have a cpl of spots for a few lowbies like myself. I wont do super dps but i know the fights and how to play my class and get along pretty well with the peeps in guild. So i am looking to Wrath to be like the old days for me

The casual experience has been pretty similar to original WOTLK for me. I'm a tank without a raiding guild so raiding is almost impossible lol. No one wants PUG tanks and I don't have gear for DPS. WOTLK casual play to me was always about getting pre-raid gear and then playing an alt, rinse repeat. It's pretty similar.

I played casual back then when WotLK was around and honestly, I can't say I enjoyed it very much. Sure, there were plenty of things to do which was what kept me playing but I didn't necessarily enjoy my time because I wasn't in a raiding guild after my guild disbanded during Ulduar. Granted now though, the opportunity to run in a PUG raid is much more viable and feasible than it was before when GDKP was practically unheard of and you could forget about trying hard/heroic mode anything with pugs. So things might be different this time around and I luckily have a guild that's relatively competitive and competent that I can enjoy my raiding experiences with now.

Although I play a scary amount of WoW from a normal person’s perspective I’ve always been casual because I rarely committed to raiding. It’s just a whole new level of craziness (with rewards). And you’re right in that all the TH-camrs make content for people looking to min max their raiding and assume that’s everyone’s goal. Even when they throw in a comment for a “casual” you can tell they’re just playing lip service. They don’t really believe in casually playing WoW. And yet most players I meet in the game would be considered casual in that they aren’t in a guild clearing the latest content weekly. So why all the videos for the hard core players only? That said I like your videos.

Great vid, I think the impact of removing LFD autogroup can’t be overstated though, not only can you not chain dungeons for leveling up alts but for casuals with low play time, it just makes the play time that much less impactful. Ion also said something about changing tokens around… does that mean no more daily quest for first dungeon of the day to give raid tokens?

  • @TheRosswise
    @TheRosswise 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

ANOTHER REASON WHY NO RDF WILL SUCK: With RDF, your first random heroic is treated as the daily. Without RDF, you have a specific heroic dungeon each day that everybody has to do to get their emblems. The problem is once you kill the first boss in a heroic, you are locked to that heroic. So you can only do one instance of each heroic per day. Why is this going to suck? Simple. There are a finite number of tanks on every server. So once all of the tanks have done their daily heroic, nobody else can do theirs. Once everybody realizes this fact (shortly after the launch of wrath classic), you will have to hire a tank. Like if you were buying a Titansteel cooldown, for example. How do I know this will happen? Because it already happened back in the day. I made thousands of gold tanking daily heroics. Discuss.

Blizzard are misguided for not putting RDF in the game. I appreciate the sentiment of retaining the social aspect, but this isn’t vanilla anymore, the game design around the dungeons is completely different. Dungeons are repeatable endgame content now, meaning the process of meeting up and going to the dungeon inherently does not hold the same value. It’s just not the same game and that’s fine by me. I’m sure they’ll put in RDF later but they should just have it at launch

RDF is really needed to help stop this problem of people overestimating and min maxing for no reason. The social interaction bit is very funny because I played throughout TBC and never once had a meaningful interaction in heroics, dungeons are transactional for most, people are there to get the loot and gtfo, they aren't there to take 3 hours to finish the heroic but just want to get it done ASAP. I bet that most of those people are either just playing the first weeks and then leave to retail again or many of them already play with an established group of people (or even a whole guild) so they don't need to bother about grouping anyways. And don't forget all those geared up or higher level gankers, who waited in front of the dungeons or at gathering hubs to corpse camp people. I've tried to join raiding guilds and do mythics/heroics. But I just get burnt out before the second raid launches. This expansion, I'm joining a casual guild, and either joining their pickup groups, or joining pugs.
If I can beat Lich King on 10n with full stacks... that'd be fine with me

I wanted to play a warrior but I heard that I need to raid a ton in order to be strong for pvp.
Is that true and if so, which class is good for casual play? By casual play I don't mean "easy" class but the one that doesn't need raid gear in order to be strong

Love the video and it speaks to fact of life. Sure you can market your business to the top 1% customer, but then you are only ever aiming for 1% of the total market. This is why retail became what it is today imo

Leaving out the RDF tool doesn't improve any social interaction, it just makes doing what you want to do more difficult and more time consuming. Worst thing about it is the missing teleport. I loved to level alts, and just teleport to dungeons in between. And that was back in the day when i had so much time.
If i wanna talk to ppl in 5 man dungeons, i can just start typing. Ususally you get a reply. And even if not, it's just a short dungeon. The players are the same, with or without the tool.
I really hope blizz will change their mind and make it more casua friendly and implement it, as it has been in vanilla. Community should be loud about this but casuals are usually not the ones, hanging out on forums to be heard. Just poll all active subscribed players for 2 weeks and go with the majority
