Between Postmodern and Modern: Zygmunt Bauman's Sociology of Ambivalence

Zygmunt Bauman is largely considered to be the sociologist of the postmodern. Really, he seeks to explain the ambivalence in the contemporary world, caught as we are between the modern and postmodern age. If the modern was largely about order and system, the postmodern is largely about liberation from these things. But do we want to be liberated from the modern? Or is there an ambivalence here?
