- This is an epic video where I show you the origin of every brawler's name. There are a lot of brawlers now and they all have a different name, so why did Supercell gave these names to them?

For Cordelius, I think he is named after the “Cordyceps” fungus. Cordyceps is a fungus that literally turns small insects into zombies, and as you mentioned earlier, Cordelius has gone a bit mad from the toxicity of the mushrooms in the forest, almost as if he got zombified by the fungi, completely changing his personality. So his name for me is literally just a combination of the name Cornelius and Cordyceps.
Does that mean that cordelius is from the last of us universe but he sended to starr park?
@@donbebusta well from what I know about starr park, they are kidnapping and mutating their guests into "brawlers" so i'm guessing they used some sort of fungus related methods to make Cordelius.
@@polishgoofball and they are somehow are able to travel between universes and they traveled to the last of us universe and grabed that zombie fungus and then giving it to cordelius to plant it in the starr park gardens so they can use it on other brawlers but cordelius got effected by it but instead of being 100% zombie he became a zombie but he kept his brain ( like albert wesker from resident evil which is also a zombie/horror shooting game )and now he's a human in a zombie body and then they desided instead of mutating future brawlers they give it to cordelius to use them as his weapon

Funny enough Rico was originally called Ricochet and I’m fairly certain the devs changed it cause everyone referred to him as Rico. I think they changed the name when the remodelled a lot of the brawlers
I think they changed Ricochet to Rico because it was too hard to make skins for Ricochet, but that could also be true

There was a rumour that Rico and Mortis got their names from the cartoon characters Rick and Morty. Idk if it is true or not.

-"Mortis" means death in Latin, while the word you used is just an adjective
-Buzz's name most likely comes from "Buzzkill"
-People have a lot of theories on what R-T's name could mean (Radio-television, Recording Tape, Real Time), but his name also sounds like "Artie". His name (R-T=Ar-Tie) gets split in two just like him in game!

Fang’s name actually originates from the well-known martial artist, jackie chan. His surname, chan (陳）translates to fang in english. Thus fang’s name.

Never mind! An answer on quora said his legal name was chan kong-sang, but that was the name his father gave him after changing his name as he was running away to Hong Kong. His true ancestral surname is fang. So Fang’s one of his surnames, but not a translation of another. The more you know :)
I thought fangs name came from Dragon Ball Z’s character Yamcha. His special move’s name is Wolf Fang Fist and he kind of looks like Fang. He also does martial arts. Probably too far fetched haha

I think for Surge, it's a reference to Latin, where the verb 'surgere' means 'get up' and with his super he jumps, so he kind of "gets up" in the air. Idk man, but when I learned it at school I founded it rlly intersenting and I think it comes from that

You did explain Sam well, but his whole name is Sam Bronson. Bron means like he is the brawn of the gang and Sam and son form together Samson, which might be biblical reference to Samson, a very strong man (withsswhis bare hands).

Actually, Lola's name was inspired by a Mexican soap opera, called "A Usurpadora", which had a character called Paola Brachio(or something like that) which is very known in Brazil, and the person that created Lola is brazilian.

The name Grom is formed from the word "огромный" and translates as huge in honor of his bomb, so the developers told the Russian TH-camr who asked them about it
no, grom means thunder in russian and his bombs that explode could sometimes sound like thunder. huge isnt the answer.

I think Pam's name could be in relation to the word "pamper" which means to "indulge with every attention, comfort, and kindness; spoil". Which relates to her being a mother and a support brawler who heals. As for Piper, it means pipe player, so it could kind of relate to her using a long range weapon, but I digress. It can also be a reference to Mary Poppins since she has the whole lady with umbrella persona going on, and her super is poppin'!

Tick kinda resembles to a bug, a tick to be precise xD
Pam's name is a reference to spam, as her projectiles are spammable scraps
Ruffs has a lot of buffing in his kit, aka his super and his hp buffing star power, so ruffs also resembles to buffs
I'm pretty sure the Brawl Stars Devs have said there's not any meaning behind Pam's name

Piper is actually a very popular bar, makes sense since she's in the same trio with barley, also the bar mascotte was a very fit girl with blonde hair, fang name actually comes from bruce lee since he's inspired by him and his surname is "the fang"

Fun fact: in beta and for quite time in global; rico was named ricoshet but brawl stars changed his name with his remodel and gave that name to skin for anniversary which resembles his older appearance

I think Buzz is named Buzz because he’s a buzzkill. A buzzkill is somebody who is a stickler to the rules and doesn’t allow others to have fun, which fits Buzz pretty well.
For the new brawlers that came out after this video:
Charlie: her name is based on the book/movie Charlotte's Web, and one of the most prominent characters in that book/movie is Charlotte, who is a spider.
Mico: the "M" in his name would most likely be there no matter what since he's a monkey, but it might go beyond that. He attacks with some sort of "Mic", and tamarins, a type of monkey, are called "Mico" in portuguese (probably just in brazilian portuguese, as I'm not aware of that word in european portuguese), and this might work since Dani, one of the Brawl Stars community managers, is brazilian.
Kit: nothing too deep here, I think his name just comes from the word "kitten".
Larry and Lawrie (not out yet, but they've been announced): Lawrie's name comes from the word "law", since he and his twin brother are some sort of police officers in Starr Park, who obviously enforce the law. As for Larry, I think they just gave him a similar name to go nicely with his twins' (even though technically Larry is the main twin, since it's the one you play as).
3:11 The skin is his old design, which was one of the most drastic model redesigns, but they also decided to shorten his name because it fit more as a name.

an explanation for buzz's name is that when you play a brass instrument like a trombone, you have to spit or blow into the mouthpiece of the instrument. this is called buzzing, and it is what makes the sound out of a brass instrument. this is kind of like blowing a whistle.

And I forgot how exactly the logic went, but I'm pretty sure it's something along the lines of Jackie Chan's surname "陈" can translate to Chan, Chen, or somehow, "Fang", in English, therefore Fang's name.

Fang's name actually comes from Bruce Lee, as Fang was inspired by the martial arts movie star. On top of that, Bruce Lee's nickname was "the Fang". Great vid tho.
Actually I think Lola's name comes for the word in spanish "Stola" which is the fox scarf she has, plus the name Lola is very common in spain and Lola seems to know spanish

Not to be that type of guy, but fang is actually named after Jackie Chan. His name can also refer to as the "Fang." Jackie Chan also did Martial art Action movies, which had kicking. Fang's attacks are kicks. Hope this helps :)
