    That spike thing makes it into a spud wrench, and aligning holes is exactly what it's for. The Koloss ratchets are really cool, I want the swivel heads too.

    I like to put the Koloss extension handle in the pocket you stashed the pin in.( a tiny 1/4" slice vertical at bottom) I then put the pin in the other pocket. Carabiner snaps to the belt loop.

    That’s considered a spud ratchet.

    I use a half inch Zyklop 8004 C jobbie and I really like it, feels good and is my go to. Only issue being the detent is quite far back so does not always grab the socket well, luckily it grabs my extensions really well so there is no risk of sockets falling off.

      Rodney Widger hey bud! I don’t own, just an employee working mainly on BMWS and MINIS. Kobalt is kinda weird right now, can’t tell if they are staying or going. • @littlejackalo5326

      @@AutobahnDan the Kobalt hand tools "disappearing" wouldn't affect whether Lowes honors the warranty. Maybe if Kobalt disappeared altogether, the warranty would be tough to have honored. But since Lowes owns Kobalt, as long as Lowes is around, the warranty should be fine.

    I'm just a home gamer, looking to upgrade my incomplete and hodgepodge collection of cheap Chinese tools. I just got a full set of Wera screwdrivers (including the impact set) and I also picked up the 11 piece metric ratcheting Joker wrenches. I'm already hooked and have a bunch of the foam sets on my wish list. I love the unique features and the quality for price when compared to Snap-On and others.
    Question...what is your opinion on the Zyklop speed ratchets for automotive use? Do you find that the heads are too big, causing you to use an extension where you wouldn't otherwise need to? I'll probably pick up the 8004's eventually too, but wondering how well I would fare with just the 8000 speeds.

    • @AutobahnDan
      @AutobahnDan  ปีที่แล้ว

    So Dan, I'm from the USA and every mechanic here has both full SAE and Metric sockets and wrenches, cars trucks, trailers, etc is pretty much split down the middle to weather its gonna be sae or metric. Is it the same where your from? I just thought about that. Also how often do you have to use those imperial style wrenches and sockets, here in America you might see 1 car every 15 years thats imperial so nobody buys imperial tools here. Maybe a few folks but pretty much nobody.

    The wiggle is because is a thin ratched. You are sacrificing precision for thinness.

    • @AutobahnDan
      @AutobahnDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’re talking about the push through, it’s super bad even compared to ratchets that are even thinner. Maybe the thought process was that dirt and debris might make it difficult to be a push through and a quick release so they left some clearance so it can be cleaned🤷‍♂️

    • @aimasira1989
      @aimasira1989 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutobahnDan push through and switch have some wiggle. This is because on the switch version they use the rear cutout on the frame as centering but also is the frame for the push-release and they cannot have a smaller tolerance. On the push through this goes for both sides.
      You will see it if you cut one open, there is a snap ring at the back that holds everything together.

    impressive, but why oh why oh why? There are much better ratchets. The unique ratchets like the Kloss and Zyklop speed ratchets are one thing, but the metal ones just aren't as good for the price. I much prefer my Hazet 916HPLG over the Zykop Hybrid Set (which is collecting dust from non-use) for not much more in cost for a much better ratchet. But I get the whole set thing, since I've gone out of my way to find every socket in both 6 and 12 pt for 1/4, 3/8/, 1/2 in short and deep.

    • @AutobahnDan
      @AutobahnDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Han Wagu bigger on the electrician scene. They love em! They may not be as high-quality as German made, but you can see the value in these of non-German with German quality control. If the price for it went any lower, then you’ll have mid grade Taiwan

      @@AutobahnDan electricians love metal Wera ratchets? Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of Wera tools, but the cost diff on ratchet heads just not there to justify spending less. @A.Dude. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate, you are kidding yourself with WERA. Let me explain. I'm originally from Stuttgart and we had flee-markets where WERA employees used to sell very nice screwdrivers... Those were made in Germany; what you are getting today, is far from that quality; most of the tools are made in Taiwan and The Czech Republic, the quality is no longer the same. If you want a German made quality tool, you need to look somewhere else, probably into Stahlwille, Hazet and also Gedore for some stuff, but not the red lines of products; those are made of chinesium. Your US store of choice is also adding some nice mark-ups and for this reason, combined with their terrible website keep me away from being their customer. Stay safe!

    • @AutobahnDan
      @AutobahnDan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A Dude Thanks for the concern, I am well aware that these are made in Czech and Taiwan. I have Stahlwille, Hazet, Gedore, Snap-on, Nepros etc. With Wera you get high quality high QC tools from those locations. The Taiwan bit ratchets are branded in other names highly sought after by the Japanese market. Not saying that all stuff from Taiwan is good, if you know what you’re looking for, you know what’s made properly from there

    • @A.Dude.
      @A.Dude. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AutobahnDan You missed my point, which was that with WERA, you get to pay for German quality and at the end of the day, you end-up with something else. I'm well aware that they make good tools in both locations, but the price needs to reflect that as well and also, it's not always been disclosed.

    • @AutobahnDan
      @AutobahnDan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A Dude they’re not much different than Gearwrench. Gearwrench is a US company with quality Taiwan tools. The prices are high on new tools just like any other brand. New Wera is a little high, but if you wait, you can find good deals a few times a year in Amazon. Another thing is that they’re not a cheap copy and paste Taiwan like Gedore Red or Wiha. Not everything from Germany is full 100%, and the end of the day, you just have to know what to buy.

    • @A.Dude.
      @A.Dude. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AutobahnDan Mate, Gearwrench is complete and total GARBAGE! Don't allow your butt to take over the writing! I already told you that the red Gedore is crap, so no need to bring that one up as well... You need to understand that now you are talking tools with a German engineer who happens to LIVE tools. Also, I'm not in the market so I have no need to wait for "deals" on Amazon. The thing is, that not every brand is equal and well regarded in all aspects of tooling. If you want the best sockets ever, you will have to look into Stahlwille and Waggon, if you want the strongest and thinnest spanners, Stahlwille again, if you're an electrician, you look at WIHA for their dedicated stuff, if you need a pliers of some sort, KNIPEX invented the plier and is made with SOLINGEN steel, if you even know what that is and so on. Wera started out with very nice screwdrivers and expanded because it has always been a consumer company which made decent screwdrivers. If you look into precision measuring tools, you don't get the luxury of choice to much; HAZET and GEDORE (blue) are decent choices and so on. You need to understand that American tools are sub-par to German tools; end of story! SnapOn is a brand with roots in the car-repair industry IN AMERICA. NOBODY BUYS THEIR OVERPRICED CRAP overseas!!! Please remember that. Old mechanics teach young mechanics that you will eventually end-up with Snapons because that is a sign of establishment... In any case that is BS! The other truck tools are GARBAGE to start with. Young mechanics in AMERICA are not properly educated, the public is not educated at all. That's all I had to say, I won't be wasting anymore time here; I stumbled upon whatever you had to say because I was bored with this crap-virus... Stay safe!
