Sounds more like an Emo than a Goth. Though Emo stole a lot of their visual identity from punks and goths, so it's not weird that you'd mistake it as goth (edit: corrected a brain fart). That said though, Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance was very popular amongst normies, so this sadly doesn't really indicate anything.
