Hello! I have a question regarding the final stages of oogenesis. Are there 3 polar bodies in total at the end of oogenesis or are there two? Does the polar body obtained in the 1st division of meiosis undergo the second division of meiosis as well or no? Thank you!

no only two polar bodies
It halts at metaphase two not prophase two, until fertilization occurs.

For clarification, some sources say the second pause occurs at prophase 2, some other say metaphase 2. So which one is it really?
the mark scheme says prophase 2 (2009 hl paper 2)
