Another C64 saved! I'm interested in seeing case clean ups. Always interesting to see people's methods and very satisfying to see a before and after.

I'll throw a cleanup in occasionally when it's interesting. Just for you 😉

Nice work. I'd recommend also running the SID tester program by Andrew Challis, it can reveal issues that the regular diagnostic test will not.
Also the police are on their way

I'll look that up! Have a marginal SID here I can try that with.
      They'll never take me alive!

Another good one Lee, I introduced my 13 year old to retro repairs.

That's wonderful Curtis! Would love to know how that went.

@@MoreFunMakingIt He was just in awe at how big everything was and how little storage was. It was funny when I handed him my 1541. I was watching this and an LGR 386 computer and he started asking what was going on so I broke out some of my stuff.

@@CurtisOvard That's so cool. Great that he's taken an interest and amazing he has you to show him how things used to work!

Glad I bought a memory chip tester as I'm having the same multiple issues with the 7 Speccies and 7 C64s I have to work on (collect them for some reason), so a good, relevant video for me

That sounds like the start of an epic journey, and possibly the title of a musical 😁
      Good luck!

Great job on the repair!! After working in many C64 myself, I have found that the dead test memory flashes are a hit and miss. The more you fix them, the faster you repair them. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Rudy! It's starting to be unusual whether dead test gets it right!

Nice. The rusty one I thought was suspect as whatever liquid might have creeped inside?

    • @MoreFunMakingIt
      @MoreFunMakingIt  ปีที่แล้ว

It's not so much the liquid gets inside, although I'm sure that could happen, rather than the legs corrode and that works it's way inside. I was sure it was going to be faulty!

15 seconds in and I said "U24 is faulty" ..you believe me ..right? ;) (great video as always, thanks!)

Great video! I can't get enough diagnostic videos like this, well done.
I am wondering about the RAM tester seen at 07:57. Can you tell me where to find more information about this device?

Thank you Michael! The ram tester I bought from a seller on ebay - www.ebay.co.uk/usr/analog-kid?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2559
They do a range of different ones. Hope that helps!
